I ventured through spectacular scenery from Queenstown to Tapanui for the premier of Disney movie Pete's Dragon, shot on location in Tapanui.
The Forest Lodge Hotel features immaculate large rooms/units at the back of the local pub. The Mataura Licensing Trust know a thing or two about providing comfortable accommodation.
The rooms are big, the beds are extremely comfortable and the rooms are spotless.
The service from staff is excellent and very helpful.
The restaurant do an awesome selection of food and the burgers are to die for.
If you are venturing in the heartland of the south island stop in at the Forest Lodge and take in the amazing scenery and pop into the bar for a cold Speights 5 Malt on tap.

The Forest Lodge Hotel is situated in idyllic Tapanui, deep in the south land of New Zealand, home to the Disney movie Pete's Dragon!
The Rooms are large, immaculate, and feature a large lounge and a very comfortable double bed. There is a kitchen, separate bathroom and toilet area. The rooms are well maintained and serviced regularly.
There is also free access to a washing machine and dryer!
The local pub is 10 seconds away and the Burgers are awesome!
Grab yourself a Speights 5 ale from the tap and relax next to the fire place.
The locals are very friendly.
Well worth taking a trip to this magical part of the South Island.
