Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We have stayed here before and it was certainly better 5 years ago. It is now very minimalist. The bed was horrible. It was worn out and uncomfortable. We had to put the duvet under us to try and soften the blow. Then we didn't have a blanket to put over us. Ok, we could have asked but we shouldn't have to. The cooking element had two burners but it was so small that you could only put one pot on it at once. They only supplied a frypan and one pot. The furniture was awful. A basic table that was meant to be a desk. Old style square thick timber. The shower rose was small and very low. They are also "cheap" nopt having pay way giving some lame excuse of people's limits on their cards. Basicslly, they didn't want to pay the fee. Overall, it was clean but very ordinary and we won't be staying there again.

One of the best accommodation I have stayed in. I stayed here for 4 weeks for work and the Host Janine was extremely friendly and helpful. They were even able to wash my clothes whilst I was at work. The beds were extremely comfortable and the showers had excellent water pressure in comparison to other lodgings. They were even able to accommodate my work truck which was impressive. I will definitely be staying here if I'm back down in Wellington again.

This family friendly lodge was absolutely fantastic. We flew in late to Wellington and they left our keys in a lock box since their front desk closed before we got there. Their front desk was so helpful in providing recommendations and insights into Wellington and New Zealand. We arrived right before Christmas. As Americans, she let us know that, by law, everything would be closed down so we wouldn’t be able to get food anywhere. This helped us a lot and were able to walk to the nearest Pak’n’Save to get food for both Christmas and Boxing Day. Which makes this another great place. Each room is equipped with a small electric stove, microwave and kettle. The rooms are so spacious and the beds are epically comfortable. I also thought that the use of the key to keep the lights and AC on was an interesting way to keep track of the electricity. Overall, this has to be one of the most friendly, down to earth, places I have ever stayed. Needless to say, the next time I’m in Wellington…I will definitely be staying here again. Thank you Boulcott Lodge for making my stay as monumental as you did.

We stayed here for 4 nights as a family of 4 with 2 teenagers. We had a 2-bedroom downstairs unit. The unit was warm and very comfortable, with room for us to spread out. The beds were very comfortable. The room had cooking facilities in the room but we didn't use them. Friendly staff, close to good cafes, and Queensgate Mall. Very quiet unit.

We had a lovely stay at Boulcott Lodge recently. The room was very comfortable and spacious for three of us and had everything we needed for a three night stay. Will definitely stay again when visiting friends in Lower Hutt.

This is a very good motel, well priced. Stayed one friday night. Check in was a very pleasant experience, very friendly and helpful. The room was modern, spacious and well appointed. Very clean with kitchenette and small living area. It was also very quiet despite being on a main road and a handy location as well. Would happily recommend to anyone.

My husband and I came to Lower Hutt so he could receive medical treatment at the hospital - the hotel took us as guests despite a very full schedule. The room we stayed in was lovely and warm and inviting. I like it when hotels have inbuilt handsoap and shower gel/conditioner as this one does. Plenty of amenities close by and transition between the hotel and the hospital was easy and painless. It made a stressful time very easy to deal with and the staff are lovely. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Room nicely appointed. Parking a bit tight but off street. GST was not included in the original booking quote. We have travelled extensively and this is the first time it was added. Would stay again. Very quiet. Friendly staff.

First impression was the tight awkward parking requiring you to either turn in a small space or reverse onto a busy road. NO breakfast options available even though it’s advertised on website. Uncomfortable budget beds. TV in bedroom that didn’t work. What more can I say? Won’t be back.
