The Rifugio della Rocca, nestling below the ancient castle at Rocca Calascio, offers a characteristic restaurant and bar, and the "albergo diffuso", a hotel whose lovingly restored rooms and apartments are distributed in various buildings in the village. The hotel also has a dormitory that can sleep groups of up to 16 people. Bookings can be made all the year round, and you can visit the Rocca (castle), the octagonal mountain church, the beautiful medieval villages in the district and the mountains of Gran Sasso. In the neighbourhood you will find good climbing sites, footpaths and routes for mountain bikes in the National Park, and cross-country and back-country skiing areas are on hand. Throughout the year the Rifugio Della Rocca organizes classical music concerts, in collaboration with maestro Orazio Tuccella's Officina Musicale ensemble, and literary and scientific lectures.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The restaurant, located at the foot of the famous Rocca, is very beautiful, characteristic, clean, spacious and well lit, comfortable tables and seats in the room dominated by the ancient fireplace.
Exceptional starters with very good products, pappardelle with wild boar good but a little loose, good braised sheep.
The waitresses were courteous even if some of them were a little distracted and made a mistake with the orders.
Normal prices considering that it is still a widespread hotel.
If you are in Rocca Calascio you can easily refresh yourself here.

We were guests for lunch in a typical warm and welcoming location, delicious food and good value for money. Super welcome even though we had no reservation. Excellent service, the guys were kind and professional!!

After the visit to the Rocca, we opted to eat something, a good choice! Good food (TOP Navelli ricotta and saffron gnocchi), good value for money, comfortable environment, everything excellent, but I give the 6 stars (not 5, more!) to the guys who welcomed us, who served and who cooked for us, they were fantastic, young and dynamic environment, typical cuisine, what more could you want? I will advertise well and will definitely return!

Total lack of professionalism and seriousness. There was no sign indicating problems with electronic payments and we decided to stop and get something. The connection didn't work (we tried about ten times) and there was no alternative way to pay electronically (Satispay or PayPal or other). We had to make a bank transfer (among other things instant and with a cost of €2.75 for the operation) and the ladies who manage it DIDN'T even have the elegance to offer us a coffee (among other things already paid for with the cost of the banking operation). Shame!

Beautiful place, accommodation with many potential but little attention to detail. Breakfast to improve: good cakes and jam but cafeteria not up to scratch. Mrs. Susanna welcomed us with extreme kindness. We will return confident to find the necessary and necessary improvements, considering the cost of the rooms and in honor of the beauty of the area. Appreciable definitely the attention to the ecological aspect. Place suitable for those who go on holiday with their dog.

We paid an exorbitant price for a cutting board and little else. Not comparable in terms of quality/price to any other place in the area where you can eat well at very honest prices. Among other things, not particularly kind. Sin.

Go only if you like to be among worms, dust, dirty blankets, dirty carpets. One roll of toilet paper for 3 people for 4 days. I wonder how a place like this can stay open. All nice but not enough. We're bordering on decency.

Superb apartment a stone's throw from the ruins of Rocca Calascio. Clean, comfortable, tastefully furnished. We slept in three. The attic is also strategic for families with children. The kitchen is also convenient. Great for extended stays. There is also an outdoor space for eating or enjoying nature.

An exceptional Rifugio in a wonderful place with a fantastic atmosphere and great people. Without air conditioning and yet pleasantly cool. Without TV and yet constantly new pictures and stories. Without SPA and yet enormously relaxing and relaxing. A small room yet infinite space. A small window and yet an amazing view. And when all day guests are gone, the peace and quiet is a unique experience.
Also a treat: The restaurant with its regional dishes.
A dream. And hopefully very soon and once in winter.

This is a gem but not for everyone. Rocca Calascio is a medieval town built on a mountain side. There is a ruined castle a couple hundred yards above the town. Views are fantastic. The couple who run this B&B are terrific. Went out of their way to make us comfortable. Our "room" was an excellently restored, three room stone house. If you like to hike, drive scenic mountain roads or just relax this is for you. If you want nightlife and action -- look elsewhere.

"Becareful with the parking there. There is no parking space near the hotel only pick up and drop off spot. Actually parking space is located below which is about 300m from the hotel. So if you have bags you have to first drive up the slop drop you bags than drive back down to park your car."
