My love of old brought us to this accommodation. When hubby showed me photos of where we would be staying I was thrilled! We chose the apartment 'Tahi' for our 5 nights and I loved pottering around in my little home away from home. With the option of 2 great outdoor areas I had my coffee watching the sun come up on the balcony and a wine in the arvo on the sunny private deck. The well equipped kitchen allowed me to cook a roast dinner and the dishwasher took care of the dishes while hubby watched tv from the comfortable couch. This apartment had a wee hallway that lead to the bathroom and large double bedroom, as an early riser I loved being able to close the passage door so that hubby's sleep wasn't disturbed. Our hostess Erika was on hand with plenty of local knowledge, suggestions of where to visit and the best places to eat. No complaints about this place, just lovely memories.

After the Covid lockdown we needed an escape and this place was exactly what we needed. Our apartment was extremely well equipped, very very comfortable, spotless with lovely soft furnishings. The view is beautiful, I could have sat for hours looking out across the water. The wifi was great, so much so that we were able to work and carry out on line meetings.
The owner Daniel and all the staff are super friendly. they simply can't do enough for you. Loved being able to use the paddle boards and he is able to organise trips if needed, Daniel is great company and very knowledgeable about the area. And Tippy the dog, oh I just loved him. There are so many places to visit in the area, we easily filled a week and could have stayed longer.
There are a couple of restaurants on the doorstep, definitely recommend the Thai, a well stocked supermarket is a 2 minute walk.
Over the years I have planned trips for a number of overseas visitors and have often recommended this place based on their feedback, everyone loves it, I highly recommend it. I really hope to go back soon, it felt like a home from home. GO, you won't be disappointed

We only spent the night, but we really enjoyed our stay. Though it was wintertime, it was raining while we we here, it was still a comfortable place to stay. Our Hosts Dana and Trevor were friendly and full of helpful advice and information. The accommodation was lovely and cosy, the bed was very comfy! The views from the balcony looked out over the estuary and hills beyond. Local food places included an awesome fish and chips shop come restaurant. There are some other neat little shops and eateries. All in all, we are happy to recommend this accommodation.

My husband and I stumbled on the waterfront apartments in mangonui just by a lucky break. It made our holiday. Daniel the owner and Erica the manager could not have been more helpful. The apartments are very clean, well appointed and in the best position located close to shops, restaurants, galleries and supermarket and are reasonably priced for the area and amenities. We stayed in a queen room and also the front apartment which is spacious and right on the waterfront. The weather was stunning so we ordered neaeby takeaway pizza and sat on the balcony with a lovely bottle of wine. Perfect! We highly recommend these apartments and hopefully will be back! Stayed for two nights and was pleasantly surprised by both Mangonui and our accomodation! We were lucky enough to stay in Whare which was perfect for our group as it provided ample space while still maintaining the cosy cottage feel. The highlight of my stay was lying on the daybed each morning with a cup of tea as the sun rose over the water - simply breathtaking. The location is less than an hour from Kerikeri airport and was also very convenient for our day trip to 90 Mile Beach and Cape Reinga. If you’re venturing to Northland you must check out the Waterpark Apartments!

Making things up as we go, not much choice in the area, drove into the carpark and met the owner/manager. He gave us a good rundown and allowed us to walkthru the apartment. His partner came to register us and also talked us over the great options around town. The room itself was fully stocked with kitchen equipment and utensils and the amenities are above average. Really happy with the choice, but the best part was at the end (or beginning ??), the sunrise…wow, totally east facing we got it all. Amazing. Thanks team you were great.

We stayed here for 3 nights as it was centrally located in Mangonui and easy walking distance to shops... We had the Ono apartment and enjoyed it. It is a 2 story accommodation with the bedroom on the upper level. The main level had the bathroom, kitchen, sitting area and the balcony. There was a fan in the bedroom but no available plug outlet to connect it, a little disappointing, other than that it was a good accommodation.

I stayed in Whare for two nights and wished I had extended my trip. The cottage was recently renovated, the rooms were very clean and cosy, and the staff were friendly and ensured that we had a wonderful experience. It was beautiful watching the sun rise over the water in the mornings and the location was perfect for visiting Cape Reinga and 90 mile beach.

Wonderful apartments in a beautiful village. We loved staying here because of the amazing views from our gorgeous apartment, friendly and welcoming staff and lots of lovely walks and stunning beaches nearby.
The apartments have great facilities, so that you can cook and enjoy the views from the balcony. There are also several good cafes, restaurants and takeaways in the village - we particularly enjoyed The Thai.
This is a fantastic place to stay. We’ve travelled a lot and this was our favourite apartment in the whole of New Zealand!!!

We enjoyed staying a night at the Waterfront Apartments in Mangonui following a day trip to Cape Reinga. Andrea was a lovely host who gave great travel advice and had great local knowledge. Our upper floor studio apartment was beautiful and had more than we needed for our nights stay but could see such potential for a longer holiday and it being a comfortable base for exploring the far north further. An added bonus was it was pet friendly too. TheWaterfront Apartments are situated in a great spot with cafes and gift shops etc just a short stroll away.
