I've been back here 3 times in the past month as I'm doing work in the Far Far North. Visitors won't be disappointed with the choice of rooms - lovely bed linen, and heat pumps and full sized baths in many of the rooms all add to the joy of staying here. The hosts, who sadly are shortly to move...

My wife and I stayed for three nights in this charming boutique hotel and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The Ruru suite we had was spacious, with a balcony outside the bedroom overlooking the bay where we enjoyed a glass of splendid local wine in the late afternoon. The original kauri floors and woodwork had been preserved when the hotel had...

A lovely spot, overlooking the sea, with excellent places to eat very close by. See other reviews. Jean has done a very special job over the past 8 years making this a high quality, quirky, boutique hotel, with spotless rooms and perfectly varnished wooden floors. Scrabble, playing cards and a full set of metal Boules all provided, with special playing...

We stayed in Ruru suite for two nights. The staff and managers were extremely friendly and helpful. The building is a very nicely fitted out heritage listed. The property has a lovely vegetable garden, for the staff and residents use, and Simon the manager kindly showed us round. A short walk along to shops and restaurants. We walked further along...

A lovely experience staying at The Old Oak! Two of us stayed two nights in the Totara studio and had no complaints about its size. The room was well fitted out, extremely clean with excellent facilities, and Jean really made us feel welcome at the beautiful hotel. The location is convenient for day trips further up north, or south or...

My wife and I had an extremely comfortable three night stay in the Pohutukawa Suite at the Old Oak Boutique Hotel. A modern fit out, and spotless room, in an historic building with our own garden courtyard and sea view, was magic! The magic was enhanced by the courtesy and charm of Simon and Kiyo. As hosts they are the...

This was our second stop for two nights, part of an extended 6 1/2 week holiday to New Zealand. It is a lovely house and Simon & Kiyo were very friendly and helpful, we stayed in the Tui & Kauri garden studios and both were very clean and big with lots of room. I would highly recommend that you stay...

We have been so impressed with this Hotel, and its Managers. We initially booked for 2 nights, then extended to 3 then 4 nights. There is plenty to do locally in a picturesque and tranquil location. Simon could not have been more helpful with great suggestions and tips to meet our needs and expectations. The rooms are comfortable and really...

As a lover of heritage accommodation, The Old Oak Boutique Hotel was an obvious choice on our trip around the North Island. We had an upstair suite with a queen bed and smaller rear single bedroom with modern bathroom and kitchen - a lovely comfy stay in a Grand Old Lady - love to see old buildings restored and utilised....
