Would definitely recommend the old oak as fabulous accommodation. The 2-brm room we had upstairs was quaint and full of character. The room was immaculate and well appointed. The hosts were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. They have been there 4 months and are very passionate about the history and character of the hotel which is amazing. Thank you Jennifer and Justin. We loved our stay Regards Chrissie and Margaret

I was upgraded to the Pohutukawa suite before I arrived and it was so lovely! A very spacious room and the bathroom was gorgeous. I also loved the beautiful bathroom products on offer. The shower handle was a bit stiff to use and not great pressure, but everything else was fantastic. Lovely to sit on the verandah and watch the water and the garden beside the hotel is so pretty. This hotel has been beautifully restored. Really good to have Netflix available on the TV too! Menus in the room for local eateries was a nice touch. I was sad not to meet the owners but the codes for entry made it very easy to arrive and leave. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Beautiful old hotel, rennovated and updated but not ruined. Gorgeous little garden to wander in, lovely verandah to sit and relax in upstairs to take in the delightful view. Easy to walk into the village to enjoy the history of the area and beautiful harbour. Indian restaurant next door - fortunately for us we love Indian food! As it's right on the road we chose a room at the back and were glad we did - although Mangonui is tiny, there are lots of visitors.

We stayed here for one night in the Ruru suite. It is a lovely place to stay. The room is a bit eclectic but beautifully appointed. There is a little balcony with a view over the bay. I would thoroughly recommend it

We booked the 'Ponga' suite with a wrap around verandah. Superb garden and harbour views. Heated rooms on arrival. Tastefully decorated inside and out with additional touches of fresh flowers in the Lounge and En-suite. Gorgeous toiletries. Fresh milk and plunger coffee daily. Comfortable bed. Superbly clean. Recommend.
