Beautiful old hotel, rennovated and updated but not ruined. Gorgeous little garden to wander in, lovely verandah to sit and relax in upstairs to take in the delightful view. Easy to walk into the village to enjoy the history of the area and beautiful harbour. Indian restaurant next door - fortunately for us we love Indian food! As it's right on the road we chose a room at the back and were glad we did - although Mangonui is tiny, there are lots of visitors.

We stayed here for one night in the Ruru suite. It is a lovely place to stay. The room is a bit eclectic but beautifully appointed. There is a little balcony with a view over the bay. I would thoroughly recommend it

We booked the 'Ponga' suite with a wrap around verandah. Superb garden and harbour views. Heated rooms on arrival. Tastefully decorated inside and out with additional touches of fresh flowers in the Lounge and En-suite. Gorgeous toiletries. Fresh milk and plunger coffee daily. Comfortable bed. Superbly clean. Recommend.

Lovely old place, but when we visited it was a very cold and wet couple of days, would have thought heating would he on in room, but No, and it was cold, Especially for the far north. Rooms well appointed and beds comfy. Curry smell didn't effect upstairs but recked down stairs from the restaurant nexy door. Awful plastic green bedside lights.. Wouldn't return.

Room was lovely and bed comfortable. However, when we entered the property there was quite a strong smell of Indian food. We thought someone must have had a take-away, but it remained throughout our stay so think it was the result of the Indian restaurant next door. Luckily it did not seem to permeate into the room itself, so not major issue.
