Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a large home converted into 3 themed bedrooms - French, Tropical and Georgian. Beds are very comfortable. Only the French room has an ensuite but strangely only a bath tub with no shower. The Georgian room has no wardrobe. All other facilities are excellent. The property is a half hour walk uphill from the port and the balcony has great views over water and great night sky. Wifi is fast. There is no air con , but fans, so the rooms can get a bit warm. Breakfast is very good with cereals, fresh fruit salad, croissants and toast, yoghurt etc. I would have liked juice instead of the morning water. Edith is the hostess and is very nice. She will do anything for you and has led an interesting life! The surrounding gardens and pond are a real joy. Well recommended. We also suggest great coffee and cakes at the Little Kitchen down at the port and do the whaling tour at Port Butler. You have to book but its a must.

Edith is such a fantastic host. She made sure that we had everything we needed and had settled in. The room was fantastic. Decor was beautiful and the bed was one the most comfortable I have slept in.
The balcony area was a delight, with hammocks positioned to overlook the beautiful view.
Edith presented us with a full spread for breakfast, which was delicious.
Overall, we both greatly enjoyed our stay, and would 100% recommend staying at Mangonui Magic on your travels.

Seeping in old history, this local seaside village is a must for tourists to visit travelling to Cape Reinga, New Zealand.
The infamous Mangonui Fish Shop is a must to visit.
The walks, the wharf and local shops ooze charm.

Quaint and quiet home in little Mangonui. Edith is an amazing host who has converted her home into a wonderful B&B. It was middle of winter and she had a cozy firing rolling through the night. She warned us she liked to get up in the middle of the night to throw a few more logs on the fire because it was winter and that's what you do. Beautiful property with a great view. Breakfast was incredible and she made my wife and I a feast. Edith herself is full of incredible stories and travels of her own and clearly loves what she is doing.

Edith (who by the way is a most interesting person) was our host and her B&B is modern, very clean, and very comfortable. She gave us a 1st class breakfast and we stayed 2 nights. Our room was beautifully furnished and from the verandah of the house there is an excellent water view. The grounds are spacious and very well maintained. We would like to stay with her again. Recommended.
