French Farm Winery is nestled in the hills of the French Farm valley in Canterbury, New Zealand. Whilst we are no longer a winery the vineyard that was sold in 2008 is just 100 mtrs. down the road and is open 6 days a week. With the abundance of native trees and birds, meanderings streams and beautifully maintained gardens, French Farm Winery is known for its distinctive French-provincial style and décor, is a venue like no other. In 2023 it was bought by new owners who have loving created The Old Winery Garden Bar.

It was a cool day we called in, and the hosts immediately offered us blankets to keep the breeze at bay. Best pizza in town, and one of the best ever. Great location, and despite the name French Farm, we learned this is a suburb of Tuscany, so Italian and not French at all. This is also reflected in the Tuscan design of the location and subtle Italian mood music. A few nice beers and wines in the fridge too. Will be back for the pizza, and possibly live music over summer.

We had a wonderful visit to French Farm! The gardens and setting are beautiful, we enjoyed delicious pizza overlooking the sea. Our hosts were very welcoming and showed us inside the main building which is soon the be renovated, and the plans sound amazing! The room was extremely comfortable and the breakfast delicious, we can’t wait to visit again!
