We stayed at the fabulous Silks Place Taroko for four days and three nights in the gorge view room with two queen size beds. The room has a direct view of the gorge which one would never get bored looking at all day. There is a balcony with chairs and a table where one can sit to enjoy the view and sound of running water. We took the dining option to have two meals at the hotel (a total of six meals). We had one dinner at the buffet, which is once is enough for me. The Chinese restaurant there offered the best dining experience, whether lunch or dinner. The lounge that we were able to access also offered a great breakfast and afternoon tea experience. We preferred the breakfast at the lounge versus the buffet breakfast that was the alternative offered. We took late dinner time slots as we knew that we would have afternoon teas at the lounge. The hotel offered two local tours with fantastic tour guides for a very low cost. The tours included an air-conditioned van or bus, bottled water, and a small snack. The tours were divided into morning and afternoon tours, and they went to different places. The tours mentioned that the walks were for “all ages”, but I think that an older child, say ten or older, may tolerate the walking/hiking a little bit more, especially the afternoon tour. The outdoor infinity pool was fantastic, and my wife enjoyed the small craft classes that the hotel offered during the day. Evening singing from local aboriginal groups made for a great night swim or top off the evening of relaxation. I want to especially comment that the lounge manager and staff were highly professional and attentive to our needs. They managed our daily schedule and offered helpful suggestions. The cleaning was top notch. I was able to observe that they wiped clean the ceiling to floor windows as they clean the other rooms, and I assumed, based upon the cleanliness of our room’s windows, that they were cleaned regularly as well. Each night they included a turndown service with a light dessert. My son injured himself just before the trip and had a large bandage covering his elbow, and the staff frequently asked if he was feeling better or whether they could assist in any way. Alas, all good things must end, and we had to leave. If one could afford it, the gorge view room is worth it. We look forward to going back there again in the future.

I greatly enjoyed my stay at Silks Place Taroko. Though it may be one of the most expensive hotels in Taiwan, certainly outside of Taipei, I think it offers a very unique experience that you will not get at other five-star hotels. The location is right in the middle of the Taroko Gorge in Tianxiang, about an hour away from Hualien train station. The building itself may not be very remarkable but it is the only luxury hotel probably in the entire region, and the staff provides very attentive service. The best part about the hotel besides the location is the outdoor pool, which enables you to enjoy a view of the gorge and the mountains while you swim. There are also multiple jacuzzis and lounge chairs for relaxing. As far as I know there are very few hotels besides the Lalu in Sun Moon Lake which can offer such a experience in Taiwan. They also have a night time music show with Aboriginal musicians and a movie showing around the pool area. Most people who come here will have a car, but public transportation is also available, though it does not run very frequently. The hotel also has a shuttle that you can take for a modest fee, but since the gorge is rather large and not very walkable it is still probably advisable to have a car or to have someone drive you around.

My wife and I stayed at the Silks while we visited the Taroko Gorge and could not be any happier with our choice. The level of detail begins before you even arrive. The Silks does a great job of communicating with the guest to set up arrival via shuttle bus. Once you arrive you are greeted by extremely friendly staff with all the information you will need to maximize your stay at the gorge. The hotel has a nice charm and the amenities are fantastic. Definitely suggest taking advantage of the sauna and spa for a massage after a long day of exploring the gorge!
The old saying of “you get what you pay for..” definitely comes to play here. If you are thinking of visiting beautiful Taiwan and visiting the Taroko gorge look no further and book your stay at the Silks!

My biggest travel pet peeve are hotels that try to pass themselves off as "luxury" stays but don't live up to their promise. This hotel is one of those places. It severely lacks the level of sophistication and solitude that it advertises. And for what we paid per night, you’d expect MUCH better customer service.

First of all, if you're expecting a peaceful, quiet escape - forget it. There are screaming children in every hallway. As I checked in, not only was there a motorized leaf blower going off but there was a tacky "Santa concert" happening in the lobby. I couldn't hear a word the receptionist was saying. Not a warm welcome. And throughout our stay, I would hear the cleaning staff shouting to each other in the hallways. This is NOT how to curate a peaceful experience. And every one of our meals was interrupted due to unruly kids throwing tantrums (and their dishes) on the floor.

On top of all the noise, the property is WORN DOWN! There was a stale musty smell through the halls that was persistent. The rooms are dingy, the bathrooms are outdated, and the furniture needs to be replaced. There were stains in the carpets and sheets. And there were bugs crawling all over the room.

Unfortunately, if you want to have a comfortable stay inside Taroko Gorge, Silks is the only game in town, as they say. And that means they know they have a monopoly on the market and as a result they can charge what they want and don’t have to try that hard for their customers.

It all left a very bad taste in my mouth. Especially after the exquisite service I got at Eslite Hotel in Taipei.

All the service staff were incredibly enthusiastic and proactive in helping us take photos, which added a special touch to our experience. They went above and beyond to ensure that we captured memorable moments during our stay. Additionally, the housekeeping staff were extremely friendly and created a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We stayed 1 night in Badic room and 1 night is honeymoon studio.
Pros: Honeymoon Studios are pretty nice and give u some feeling of Japanese culture. Great room amenities, including face masks and nice coffee. Have amazing roof top pool and Jacuzies that open till late evening and give u resort feeling. Have nice tour guides for Taroko National Park that are very attentive and not make u feel bored.
Cons: basic room is really basic and maximum I will give 3 stars for it. Club Facilities are very poor, offering very limited foods and 3 types of wine without any beer options.

It's actually worth it for two meals, and the dishes are pretty amazing whether breakfast or dinner.
If the room faces the mountain view, it should be beautiful. There is a large bathtub in the room, which is necessary for relaxing on vacation.
There are two large swimming pools, one is built to resemble a mountain and has a hot spring pool, there is also a night movie in the mountains, one is indoor heated and has a steam room, and the game facility room is not sloppy, so you will not be bored even if you stay for a long time.
When checking in for accommodation, I asked questions about the Baiyang Trail and did not hesitate to share my personal experiences.
After checking in, you will receive a text message informing you that you can check out in advance, and the location and time of the control point will also be mentioned.
Because it was a little difficult to arrange our itinerary during the restricted time, Dafang told us that we could still use some of the facilities in the museum after checking out, so we didn't leave until the restricted release time.
These considerate services allow travelers to arrange their time with peace of mind, which is highly recommended.

I picked up the "1 night 2 meal" package for 2 on the official website. It's extremely good value and the food was brilliant. Both dinner and buffet breakfast offered various choices and they were all quite tasty. I believed our room had undergone some refurbishment as well, which didn't feel like something built almost 20 years ago. Highly recommend to stay at the room with river view, it's definitely worth the add-up price. Just don't go there during summer vacation, otherwise there will be loads of shouty, jumpy kids which does decrease your "relaxing level".

If you are going to Taroko National Park, there are limited places to stay. This is the primary hotel and for that reason, is somewhat overpriced. The hotel is charming, well apportioned and has wonderful views in the gorge. The food at the buffet is wonderful and features a number of local Taiwanese dishes that are worth trying. The only downside is that because the air is very humid, the hotel has a bit of musty smell in the carpet that the staff try to cover up with various fragrances. The carpet should be ripped out and replaced with a hard surface. The pools (indoor and outdoor) and the spas are well cared for. There are lots of outdoor activities only a short stroll away. There is a really nice play room for small children. We really enjoyed our stay.

The room rate booked before the trip includes one hotel room and two meals (Wesley buffet dinner and buffet breakfast the next day). The pre-trip reminder message I received (including mobile phone messages and emails only mentioned traffic information and no other content), that night with Before the husband and the child entered the restaurant, the waiter at the counter guided us to our seats. At this time, he "did not give us any menus or information to inform us of other things to pay attention to." During the meal, the husband said that he saw beer on the next table but did not see it on the bar. He said that we should ask the waiter. After the gentleman asked, the waiter only told us that we wanted "extra" beer. There were two types of beer, Taiwan Beer and Gold Medal. He asked us which one we wanted? The gentleman replied which one we wanted, and at this time the wine was delivered. The waiter didn't tell me anything else. Before the end of the meal, when I went to pick up the meal and returned to my seat, my husband told me that I had to pay 220 yuan for the bottle of beer. In fact, I already felt it was unreasonable, but due to my mentality of going out to play, I wanted to forget it. I immediately reported it to the waiter, but they only told me that they would report it to the superior supervisor. Then the receptionist at the restaurant department showed me the wine list and said: Oh, all our wines need to be paid for. , when I was about to check out and leave the next day, I looked at the consumption details and discovered that not only was the beer charged, but there was also an additional 10% service charge. After summarizing the customer complaints, the reply I got was that the Consumer Protection Law I quoted was incorrect and I did not fully understand the Consumer Protection Law. They had confirmed with the Consumer Protection Law that they had no problems, no responsibility, and no need to add any explanation anywhere on the buffet. I need to pay for the extra points. Is it a cognitive problem on my part to be forced to spend? I am not asking for photos today and I am not necessarily not paying. It depends on whether the hotel is sincere and takes the initiative to absorb this small fee in exchange for a customer experience. When I visit again in the future, the conclusion is - no.

Suggest you reserve the seats first, otherwise you might not have your favorite timing for dinner and restaurant. Two dinner time, one is 17:30-19:10 and another one is 19:30-21:30. There is 20 minutes to clean the area in between.
