Lakeshore Suao which is one of the top rated springs hotel in the area was the hotel we choose for this stay. It took us ~2hr and 20 mins for to reach this hotel from Taipei. This is my first Lakeshore experience in Taiwan and they have a few in the country. Having some expectations in mind given the daily rate they are going I was kinda surprise the hotel seems small from the outside — and the inside. I’d say, typically a smaller chain of hotels with smaller areas to roam. The hotel only offer few standard categories of room with no suite option during booking, we book the double room with Mountain View for the glimpse of mountain and Suao town. The room which located at a small corner, truly offers great Mountain View and a great view of the town at the side next to the in-room springs tub — however, be aware that the windows are very much see through if you’re the shy type.
There’s nothing much to mention about the room besides the great view. The room which is kinda small, literally use up most of the available space to fit in every essentials possible. The only shout out is the bathroom which I enjoy taking in the views. Suao is famous for their high ion cold springs which cause the water to look murky. Fred not, it is 100% natural unfiltered springs.. there are no smell, and it doesn’t stain your body.. however, clothes maybe yes. I’d recommend to spend more quality time at the hotel which also have a gorgeous rooftop swimming pool – however small and can be crowded. They also have libraries with great views for the zen me-time. We also enjoy the breakfast spread the next morning.
All in all, it’s a decent “small spring hotel”. Having paid ~NT9k (~US$290), somehow I do expect more like better sheets. While I didn’t see any suite options, maybe it could be better with a suite as the room really does look like it’s taking all the available area and make it to rooms.. —- but this could just mean one thing = congested. I recommend coming here during the low seasons (google it), otherwise it can be really crowded. We stay here ~July 2022. Yilan/Suao is definitely one of the nicer places in Taiwan offering laidback environments.
Decent room size with huge bath tubs for hot spring and cold spring water bath. Iron rich hot spring smelled like rusty water… we had hot spring bath ever night to rest our tired body. Just perfect on those cold days.
Breakfast spread was decent. Lots of love delights. My favourite was the porridge and small dishes.
Parking available in B1. No disposable items provided in room. Instead, front desk will issue what you need at check in. No bottled water as well. Each level has a RO water point for you to DIY.
Only down side is the bed and noise isolation. We could hear next room perfectly clear throughout the night.
Enjoyed our stay. Stayed in a King Room with Mountain View.
Room was really nice and the the in room hot spring was great.
We had breakfast at the hotel which was a big selection (Asian breakfast). The breakfast time lasts all morning which was EXCELLENT.
We used the hotel swimming pool which was good. But very limited seating, so peak season I imagine would be difficult.
The hotel is a short walk to the main road with places to eat etc. So we had dinner outside the hotel.
