Detailed Reviews
We had a great stay in Les Champs Hualien. It's located on a very nice place, steps away from the night market and from the main avenue with all the restaurants and shops. It's a 10 minutes drive from the station so I really suggest yo stay in this area rather than the station area.
Rooms are small but comfortable, service is excellent and breakfast is also pretty good (they even serve the dumplings from a famous restaurant in the city). The only thing I would change is the carpet in the rooms.
Overall a great hotel, would definitely stay again.

Stayed 2 nights in this cozy boutique hotel. Room is spacious with 2 twin bed, and we can fully open 2 luggages. Clean and new room, toiletries to be collected at the reception. Breakfast is served at B1 via staircase, did not find a lift to B1.
5 mins walk to night market, and 10 mins walk to city eating places. Had dinner at Salt Lick (火车头烤肉店屋)for a change. Found a self service laundry shop nearby. Had coin changing machine and washing powder dispenser at the laundry shop. Just ask the reception for direction.

We were three of us staying in the Japanese theme quad rooms for two nights.
Rooms: While the room size was just about sufficient the amenities were great. Our room had low comfortable bedding which was perfect. The sitting area became our luggage storage. The toilet had a small bathtub with a Japanese style modern toilet seat. The Wi-Fi is free and fast, we even had a small balcony attached to the room.
Location: The hotel is situated two-three minutes’ walk away from the local night market, the main market street being another five minutes’ walk away.
Breakfast: Sufficient but not great, did feel it was limited for western taste but realized that is the case in most of the hotels in Taiwan (was the case with us for all our five hotels). They have the standard bread, butter, cereal flakes with cheese missing. There were about eight hot dishes but all of them were of Asian cuisine with about three to four of them being vegetarian. Just, I am not used to having noodles or dumplings for breakfast. They had a good coffee machine offering four-five standard varieties.
There is a 24/7 coffee/tea machine at the reception, we made use of it at nights while sitting in the hotel porch area.
Staff: Very friendly with a smile on their faces, helping us with direction and umbrellas. The ever-smiling face of the doorman always left us with a pleasant feeling.
Considering what we paid for the rooms, it was a bargain.

Location is great, and you are literally minutes away from the night market where you can find the famous grilled soy sweet corn and other ethnic dishes.
On the other side, there is the main shopping street where you can find souvenir shops and famous Hualien food like the signature and award winning pineapple tarts.
The hotel itself is good but a little dated. The lobby has been updated but the rooms need some loving. Our room had a hole in the wall, and some mold on the bathroom curtains.
The room was quite a generous size and there were two comfortable Queen sized beds. There was also a large bathtub, which was nice. There was a nice wooden planking floor but it did make a lot of noise when someone walked on it, especially in the middle of the night if someone needed to use the bathroom.
Breakfast was a small spread but had delicious items.

Really convenient for the night market. The hotel is immaculately clean but is really quite soulless. We had a balcony but it was grey in character and not conducive to sitting outside. There is a great little restaurant next door for lunch.

We booked Hotel Les Champs mostly because of its location. And yes, its location is unbeatable. The very big Dongdamen Night Market is just across the street. Right next to it is A-zhi-bao shop. The Hualien Railway Cultural Area is 2-min walk away. You can also walk to the Nanbin park in 5 minutes, and the Jiangjunfu Residences in 10 minutes. There are two traditional wet markets in 8-minute walk. Walking along the Zhongshan Road can lead you to the heart of the city, Zhonghua Road, where you can find a-zone. a zone is also known as the Hualien Cultural Creative Industries Park. It is around 15-minute walk from Les Champs.
Upon our arrival, the receptionist welcomed us with warm greetings. The manager was very enthusiastic too. We were originally given a room at the lower floor despite our reservation of one at the higher floor. Luckily, they were willing to change our room to the Tuileries room we booked. The room was not very spacious, but its bathroom was. The view was good, we could see the Pacific Ocean and fortunately also the sunrise from our room. There was a traditional parade downstairs in one evening, and we could watch the parade comfortably in the room. We also saw fireworks from the Night Market for a couple of days too. The room was pretty nice. There were also free newspaper and four cans of complimentary soft drinks every day. The quality of the toiletries was very good. The facilities of this hotel was basic. Since it is close to most places, we could simply use walk to many places. The breakfast was served in the basement (only accessible by staircase). Though not very elaborate, it was more than suffice.
Considering its privileged location, I will definitely consider it for my next stay if I ever visit Hualien again.

I stayed in this lovely new hotel in Hualien for three nights. Stylish, spotlessly clean, very comfortable room, superb plentiful breakfast, all accompanied by very good service from staff: What else is needed ?
You will even find a newspaper on your doorstep every morning.

Got last minute deal from Agoda on this very comfortable, nicely designed modern hotel, so excellent value. Rooms in modern Japanese style but generously apportioned with large well stocked bathroom and shower room and balcony (mine with wonderful view of mountain). Staff very attentive and Stephanie (back office/front office/generally in charge?) extremely helpful for English speakers with no Mandarin. Lovely restaurant, A Zhi Boa, in craft shop, right next door.

Loves the French style balcony. The interior design is quite modern and well kept. The concierge service is very nice and helpful. It's conveniently located next to the night market and few blocks away to the major city attraction of downtown Hualien.
