I really enjoyed my stay at Hualien Wow, I’m planning on another visit to Hualien soon and hotel will be my first choice! It was great a great location, excellent value and perfect service. The rooms were well appointed and the closeness to the train station is very handy.

We were blown away with how friendly the staff were, how inviting a social environment the hostel provided, how clean everything was and how well-equipped the rooms were. This is so much more than a hostel; it was a home base for our three nights in Hualien. There are LOADS of restaurants nearby (though we went to the roast turkey place across the road more than a few times!). And the hostel has -- get this -- breakfast included. Toast with spreads and eggs is a lot more than you get at most hostels in this price range (zero).

Other than the fantastic location by the train station, I really enjoy the hospitality of the staff. I needed a scooter helmet to hitch a ride to Taroko with a roommate, but none of the rental shops were open that early, so I got to borrow one from the reception staff and I'm super grateful to him because I had a fantastic time after that. The next day, my train leaving Hualien wasn't till 6pm. So after checking out in the morning and leaving my luggage at the desk, I went biking to Qixingtan, so that by the time I got back, I was in need of a shower. They let me use the shower in the public area to freshen up before I headed to the station. Can't get enough of how kind they are! Also the bed is very comfortable and the facilities are sufficient. I wish there were more space and/or hooks to use though. I didn't use the breakfast since I prefer classic Taiwanese breakfast outside. You can rent bikes from them I think, but I prefer renting from the nearby shop, bicycles are so convenient to get around the city with. Overall a great stay and would come back.

We stayed here for 3 nights and we totally recommend it. There’s so much nature in Hualien, we recommend to stay extra nights to explore beyond Taroko Gorge (which is totally beautiful and worth exploring!)
The location is just perfect: right in front of the train station, walking distance from shops, restaurants, convenience stores, and super comfortable location for exploring Hualien either by train, scooter, or bus. If you are planning to rent a bike or scooter, you can do it at the hostel and start exploring right away! They also provide tours and a lot of information to help you plan your activities. The staff is super kind and well informed. They speak perfect English and will help you make the most out of your stay.
The hostel is very clean and modern. It has different types of rooms: we stayed in a private room with toilet. It was on the 9th floor so we had a lovely view of the mountains and the city and a lot of natural light. It was also very silent over there :) The room is big and comfortable, with a small fridge, kettle, complimentary coffee and tea, a desk, and the best surprise of all was that the bathroom has a bathtub which was perfect for relaxing after a long day of hiking!
We loved the breakfast which was very complete: eggs, cheese, ham, jam, butter, nutella, peanut butter, bread, fruit, coffee and different types of teas. They also have a very big kitchen in case you want to prepare some food.
The common area is very big, bright, and comfy. It’s ideal for relaxing, eating, or working.
The wifi is very fast and reliable.
They also have coin washing machines and hanging space which is super handy.
Do not hesitate to stay here, we’ll definitely come back!

This hostel is great. You're really close to the beautiful Taroko National Park and to the Hualien City Center. Plus, you're 200 meters away from the train station.
The hostel staff will provide you a brocheure with information about transportation, recommended treks, and hotspots. They can also guide you to good restaurants and any other thing you can ask them. They have a perfect english and are super warm and attentive.
They also rent bicycles. There are a lot of scooters rentals nearby (great option to explore the beautiful area).
We had a private room which was great. Big, with lots of natural light and an amazing view to the mountains. The bathroom has a super nice hot tub that comes handy after a long day of walking around at Taroko.
The hostel also provides a complimentary breakfast, consisting of tea or coffee, eggs, toasts, ham, cheese, butter, jam, peanut butter, nutella. You can also do laundry for real cheap. And there is a big and comfortable common area, perfect for working or just realaxing. You can also refill your bottle water for free.
My recommendation is to stay here for 3-4 nights. There is a lot to see nearby (especially if you rent scooter). Perfect stay.

Perhaps it was just me, but when I stayed for 2 nights, there were many groups of school children also staying, so at times I found it to be quite noisy. For one of the days, they totally occupied the breakfast dining place. I actually also found a dead tiny cockroach in my dormitory, however the cleaner promptly cleaned it up the next day. Apart from this, the beds were very spacious and comfortable, big bathrooms, and very convenient location. Taroko Gorge is amazing and should not be missed!

Room space was slightly small, limited space for put personal belongings, air-con seems not fully function, a bit warm.
However the room given has a nice hill view, breakfast vouchers provided, also equipped with tour services.
If wanna explore the "golden triangle" where night market, shops and restaurants are located, i would say need to do some walking, or otherwise look for cab.
Overall satisfied.

WOW Hostel is situated close to the trainstation. Around 200 metres from the main entrance. It is one of the tallest houses on the corner. You cannot oversee the big letters WOW.
Check in and the breakfast|chillout area is on the 2nd floor. 1st floor is a nice cafe where you can sit on the outside, kind of streetcafe.
The (numerous) staff can speak english very well and you will be handed a little map of Hualien with the most important spots (bicycle|scooter rental, foodareas nightmarket etc.) They offer single or double bed dorms, girls only dorms and family dorms (huge). My wife and i slept in an double bed dorms with 3 other beds (1 double, 2 single beds). We shared a big bathroom with shower and toilet with the other guests of our room. Your sleep will depend on your roomates =)
On the 9th floor you can do your laundry. 2 washing machines and 2 dryer are provided. Supplementaries can be bought right next to the machines.
The free breakfast contained toasted bred, cooked eggs, marmelade, peanut butter, cheese and ham. Hot water for tea or coffee is also provided. After eating everyone has to clean up for himself, which means washing your plates or pans if you cooked yourself an egg for example. Surprisingly it worked really well. If not the staff will clean the rest.
Around the hostel (max. 10 min walking distance) you will find a few little restaurants where you can snack yourself thorugh the day.
In the evening you can drive to the big night market (2km) which contains a lot more food and a kind of amusement park =D
All in all this hostel was one of our best so far here in Taiwan.
I can recommend it to the fullest!
