The chain of hotels, the hotel is also quite old, but the facilities are well-maintained. The venue is just opposite the exit from Flint Railway Station, about 3 minutes' walk away. The room is clean and odorless, the bathroom has a massage bathtub (not used yet) and dry and humid separation room, and steam is available! Cold air is also very strong. The meeting area of the hall, there is free coffee and snacks for own use, and the breakfast part, which is mainly Chinese style, is not a lot of colour, but good taste can be satisfied. Recently, there are revitalization subsidy activities, so until the end of November, the accommodation after arrival is very expensive. Give a small Recommendation...^o^y

big hotel close to train station. large rooms and bathrooms including a bath. friendly staff and very clean although the fittings are getting a little worn. Great breakfast in the basement and free coffee machine and couch area in reception. The robust construction of the hotel evident when it a great job staying together during the Magnitude 7.4 Earthquake despite the massive shaking and very loud vibration noises!

This was a cheap & average hotel for someone on a budget. The room was clean and the aircon was acceptable while the shower was dated but satisfying. The one feature I really disliked was the breakfast buffet which did not offer any Western options which was disappointing. Overall, this was an adequate experience and was satisfactory in the end.

We were (4 pax) walk-in guests and although it took a little time, they gave us a very good room for a decent price (2 nights).

The hotel is charming. They have nice clean rooms, comfortable beds, friendly staff, very nice breakfast buffet even an alarm on the door should anyone try to open the door when you're asleep. The fire escape mechanism seems bizarre, but could be very effective. Each room has a deploy-able arm and in the closets is a harness with a long rope enabling you to descend. We found it unusual and a bit funny, but that's how they prepare for the worst. An example of how they are mostly one step ahead of you.

In the basement is an entertainment center, where you can pass a bit of time playing games (table soccer, basketball, wall climbing, ...) should it rain or you have to wait for something/someone. Did I mention most are free??

When you stay longer, don't forget to eat at their restaurant. OK - you need to pay at the cashier on a different floor, but they do give you (as their guest) a nice discount, making dining there even more interesting. Food was of good quality and more than sufficient for us.
Did I mention yet the breakfast buffet was very complete, good quality and fresh?

Very good are the bikes you can use for free. They test everything before they let you bike. We took a several trips during the day and one nightly trip to the airbase (see further) and found it to be enchanting.

Unfortunately my son developed a bit of a fever the day we were scheduled to go and they prolonged our stay without any problem, at the same rate.

We stayed in July 2013, smack in the middle of Taiwanese military excises. Near Hualien is an important airbase, so we saw not a lot but numerous F16's, C-130's and a lot of other military aircraft fly over. The best part was that from our hotel room we had an excellent view of the aircraft descending into Hualien airbase. For those who like jets as well - at the nearby Carrefour, there's a third floor giving you a good view on the airstrip. Those who are afraid of nises - landing aircraft don't make a lot of noise - we slept (light sleepers) right through numerous airplanes landing early in the morning. Maybe because the noise is limited or thanks to the quality of the rooms?

Comfortable hotel, the room was fairly spacious and the staff were very smiling and friendly. We were both given free vouchers for a glass of red wine or an ice-cream for the two evenings we stayed.
I think that the main issue with deciding on whether or not to stay in this hotel would be location. It's very close to the train station - less than a 5 minute walk. However this means that the town centre with the largest choice of shops and restaurants is about 30 minutes away - although there are shops and restaurants near the hotel.
Breakfast was a disappointment - very Asian, with little for the non-Asian taste.

Not sure why its called Charming City, but we did enjoy the few hours we had here. Only enough time for dinner at nearby restuarant and then late night walk down the main shopping street.
It is a unique aspect of life in Asia that shops are open and people are about till at least 10pm.
The mild weather was ideal to immerse in the atmosphere of the city.

Very easy to find as it is very close to the Railway Station. The hotel is clean and staff are helpful, the rooms and the hotel itself are a little dated. There is wifi in each room and they give you a code when you arrive.
The location is great if you want to be next to the station but about a 25 minute walk into Hualien center where you will find most of the restaurants and shops.
The reception staff helped us to book an excellent tour of Taroko Gorge. It is definitely worth seeing.

Stayed in Charming City Hotel in Hualien for 2 nights. My friends and I were given vouchers for a free glass of red wine per pax. Room was spacious, clean and neat. The view from our room was brilliant! Mountains with cloud in the background, really beautiful... The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly.

However, the location of the hotel isn't ideal even though it is near the train station as going to the city center would take up some time. Hence, I would suggest that booking a tour guide/driver for a day would be an excellent choice if one would like to tour around Hualien. As for breakfast, it is buffet style but mostly Asian cuisine. There is also a separate menu where guests can choose from but with limited choices.

This is an excellent hotel. Very near to the Hualien railway station, just 5 minutes by walk. We had a great stay at this hotel for two days. Rooms were clean with a peaceful environment. Hotel staffs are very friendly and all are speaking in english. The breakfast was simply superb and it was complimentary. The hotel has also been arranging a trip to some tourist places around hualien including taroko. If next times we go to hulaien, definitely we will book this hotel again.

When we arrived at Hualien railway station, we pulled our luggages from the station straight to the hotel as it is a stones throw away. This modern hotel is conveniently located near the railway station and a suitable lodge for travelers coming enroute from either Taipei or Kaoshiung, to visit the Taroko Gorge and Chisingtan. Not a very pricey hotel for the modern interior and rooms. Perfect hotel in Hualien in terms of convenience and budget.
