We are just home from a February half term ski trip - 3 Scottish families with children aged between 6 and 17. Approx 1hr 20 mins transfer from Turin airport with a transfer arranged by the hotel who were waiting to meet us . Lots of things seem to take ages to do in Italy for example hotel check in ............apart from that is the speed at which the Italians drive !.
Hotel is around a 10 min walk out of the village of Sansicario , few ski shops, schools, equipment hire, wine bar and 3 restaurants along with a spar supermarket. Great warm lockers by the lifts provided by the hotel so you don't have to take everything back down to the hotel, I even left my helmet and gloves in the locker each day. If you hire the ski equip from the hotel it is delivered to the locker on the first morning so you never have to carry the equipment. Ski passes also available from the hotel. Frequent shuttle bang on time if you don't want to do the 10 min walk ( which no one seemed to do as its quite hilly) . Staff are all friendly, check did take forever. Hotel itself is very cheery and bustly , and extremely child friendly - our 7 year old roamed freely and we were quite comfortable with this. Hotel was warm but not over powering. nIce atmosphere in the evenings, with live singing. Drinks from the bar had to be put on a pre loaded card , bar service was slow but the prices were reasonable for a ski hotel.Lots of places to sit and have a couple of drinks before dinner and play cards etc. Busy dining and you were required to sit at the same table each evening , food was excellent , 4 courses each night which you had to pick from a menu the previous evening . Vegetables were available but we didn't realise until the last night , the same with fresh coffee available each morning but we werent aware. Red wine included with dinner - certainly not Barolo but just about drinkable , white also available but you have to ask. My kids loved the pool , never tried the sauna etc . There was kids club we didn't try and live entertainment each evening which was "entertaining"as it was so un PC. Kids loved it all, and value for money you couldn't go wrong, Rooms were nice and clean with lots of fresh towels, nice big baths with plenty of hot water. Wifi rubbish in the rooms but OK around the reception area.
Sansicario links up really easily to Sauz d'Oulx and Sestriere, good skiing for all abilities , lift passes reasonably priced but don't loose them , they wont replace them. Snow was scarce when we were there , in fact no proper snowfall since December but they did a great job with what they had plus the cannons. Rooms pleasant with great views, bit cramped for 3 but fine for 2. All in all we had a great trip and it was brilliant value for money .

Nice hotel
Friendly staff
Very clean and tidy place

Great food , breakfast buffet style with good choices, evening meal is usually at least 4 courses and is selected from a printed menu issued the night before. Evening dinner is a bit of an event at this hotel with fine food, sometimes too fine for my teenage children's tastes but the children's menu can be ordered as an alternative.

Bar prices are reasonable, glass of prosecco for 5.5 Euros and similar for a large Beer.

To pay for services you load a Blue Serena payment card that is handed out at reception and use this instead of credit cards or cash.

There is a cash machine in reception (charges about 3 euros per transaction).

I would have given 5 out of 5 but the checking in system was not efficient and could have been quicker if more staff were allocated to check in at busy times such as a coach arriving.

Not the quietest of hotels in the public areas as its a family hotel but we expected this from other reviews before we arrived. However the hotel staff make this place and there is a good atmosphere.

Views from our rooms, and the bar area of Mont Chaberton were really good (when it wasn't snowing).

Hotel owned Ski lockers in the village (on ground floor of an apartment building with toilets / baby changes facilities) and the hotel shuttle bus were excellent

I would like to echo the comments from other guests who stayed during the first week of February 2024. This truly is a wonderful hotel that ticked so many boxes. Friendly staff, excellent 4 course dinners every night (with a salad bar too) and wine and sparkling water included, good choice for breakfast with a barista making coffee to order (aswell as serve yourself coffee machines for those less fussy than me), good spa facilities and clean, well managed pool (be sure to book your slot at reception in advance - no charge), shuttle bus running to the slopes a mere 5 mins away every 15 mins and a ski room for your boots and skis at the bottom of the slopes. If you miss the bus or choose tostretch out those muscles after a day on the slopes its a 13 minute walk to the hotel. At 4pm every afternoon, apres ski starts in the lounge with lively entertainers providing soft drinks and snacks (again complimentary). The lounge area is a great meeting place with a bar and large glass panorama looking out to the mountains. There is evening entertainment provided for the younger folk as well as a kids club and table tennis. The only observations I would make regarding worthy improvements would be that the bathrooms whilst decorated beautifully lack shelves and space for your toiletries and there is a lack of hooks to hang items to dry like salopettes and ski jackets (and towels for that matter) which for a family of 3 in one room means they are hanging in the most imaginative of places! I got a little frustrated with the light switches beside the beds too....I think anyone who has stayed there would probably agree its hard to find the switches amongst the 'blanks' next to them. These seem extremely petty points to raise but reviews should help improve places so should not omit these observations and at the end of the day are not showstoppers. We will definitely return......when you have experienced things this good it is hard to imagine you could find better elsewhere! Thank you everyone at the Hotel Majestic San Sicario!!!!!

The Hotel was awful - avoid at all costs
1. We were unaware that we had booked during the Italian half term - it was full of large Italian families with loads of kids, as a result was very busy and noisy.
2. I could not use the hotel pool or spa facilities as they needed to be booked in advance and the pool was always full of kids [no adult swim times] They were also only open for limited periods of time. There was also a charge for the spa but it was fully booked anyway.
3. The buffet was service only so you usually had to wait to be served. The food was ALWAYS COLD and the menu was limited choice. The staff were running around like 'headless chickens' - not enough for the number of guests.
4. Once allocated a table in the restaurant [more like a canteen], you had to stay all week at the same table for all meals.
5. Drinks in the bar were expensive and you couldn't relax because there was always a 'kid's' show going on in the bar area before and after dinner.
6. Reception staff were rude and unhelpful generally.

Just back from trip. When we arrived we were told that it was compulsory to purchase the 'ClubCard' which entitles users to the facilities. This was not mentioned on the website or other. We had no choice but to buy for the 5 of us. However, the next day when we tried to book the sauna, swimming pool or anything else we were informed that everything was booked up apart from one sauna slot that the next day at 3pm! I spoke with the Manager and he just smiled, shrugged and said "yes it is a problem" but offered no solution. You could not make it up! In our group we have one room for 3 grown men. When we got to the room the single beds were made up as a double and single. These were quickly changed to that they were all singles...but 2 of them touching each other with not enough room for any of us to get out of bed sideways. So in summary we were only separated by the bedding. I again spoke with the Manager who said "this is not breaking any laws"! His remarks were incredible. The hotel has so much promise. Looks very nice from the outside but once you enter you see the dirt, ripped sofas, stained bedding. To top it of on the final night, following a fire alarm we noticed the fire detector was covered with a plastic 'maintenance' cover. I pointed this out to the staff who said "oh yes that isn't right" but made no attempt to change it! Prior to leaving we asked if there would be any refund on the facilities (club) card as we had used no facilities all week to to them being fully booked. We were informed "No because you have had full use of the lockers and bus". We explained that we had our own car and so didn't use the coach or lockers. They just sneered at this. On the plus side the food was great and plenty of it. The restaurant service staff could not do enough for us. It is like the hotel is run by 2 different companies. Definitely avoid.

Dear Guest, We carefully read your review, and we thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience, but we are very surprised and regretful to read these negative words about your stay. The Membership Card entitles you to the following services: shuttle bus to and from the slopes (about 500 meters and 3 minutes ride) and the shopping center, free ski box with reserved locker at the foot of the slopes, daytime and evening entertainment for adults and children. For the children, dressing and accompaniment to the Ski School, until the return to the hotel, access to the Serenino Club, our Mini Club, and to SerenUp, the Bluserena Teeny Club, with assisted lunch (on payment for guests in half board). Access to the swimming pool (open at set times) and gym. It is compulsory from 3 years old, € 28 per person per week. This Is specified in our general conditions. The rooms and many other aspects did not match your taste and we are sorry. We are all year round engaged in staff training in order to keep our service at the highest levels. We wish you will give us the chance to make you change your mind. Bluserena Staff

Currently staying here at the time of writing with Crystal Ski.

The pros: well organised flight and transfer from airport in reasonable time. Nice room with balcony. Cleaned daily to a high standard. For the volume of guests, the food is very impressive with a range of options at breakfast and dinner. The bar is well priced.

The cons: the hotel feels like a creche or children’s nursery (the website does not suggest this at all) - it’s full of families with crying kids. You can hear them crying and shouting from our bedroom. It needs to be made clearer that this is a hotel for families and kids; not for adults.
The spa was fully booked for the whole week - this is simply ridiculous. This was one of the reasons we booked our stay there. Apparently they give the same time slot for each person/group every day. Thus you will get some people spending 6 days in the spa; and most people with none. Who actually thought this was a good idea? And the pool… no slots available within 48hrs; and even so, no adult-only sessions.

Overall: food good, skiing good, but hotel services very poor. We desperately wish we picked somewhere else. We won’t be back.

Couldn’t fault the hotel. As this was a skiing holiday, we only spent the late afternoon/evening in the hotel. The transfer to the ski lift was regular enough but you could walk there (15min uphill walk to skiing). The ski lockers was a great add on so you could leave everything there each day. Cannot comment on the spa/swimming facilities as we did not use it.
Considering it was busy each night, the food was excellent with plenty of choice and the service even better. Everyone was friendly and the speed of the staff was impressive. Gaetano & Loris looked after us for the full week, both were amazing.

Great family hotel with first rate staff and great food.
Mostly Italian clients with a few Brits. Good swimming pool that was free and easy to book. Only small criticism was no kettle in room. (British with no tea in morning is a scary thing)
Coach to slopes works well with free locker.
Thanks to the director and all his staff for a great two weeks.

Everything very good, except the ski school, branded with the hotel's logo. They refused to welcome a single kid several times for overbooking, without even double checking, not caring at all about the kid smile and needs. It's a real pity, because everything else was well done and well organized. They were showing up the logo of the hotel, so should have been given more attention and dedication to their clients. They should not allow a single lady to spoil an experience. The manager of the ski school should be taught how to deal with clients with kids and to understand what really matters, which is not a simple ski lesson, but the experience of staying with other kids. She did not make any basic efforts, she simply did not care at all, even having the office completely empty. This is a black spot, very negative in my view, within an organization that showed great dedication and efforts to welcome its clients.
