The Occidental Jandia Mar offers a variety of amenities, including pools and entertainment options that receive positive remarks, despite some guests noting maintenance and Wi-Fi shortcomings. While the hotel's location offers stunning views and nearby attractions, the steep approach to the beach can be a challenge. Opinions on service and value vary; some praise the staff's responsiveness and friendliness, while others point out inefficiencies and high costs. The hotel maintains an overall clean environment and a vibrant atmosphere, although the rooms are considered outdated by some and could benefit from better soundproofing.

I wanted to take a moment to express our appreciation for the fabulous experience we had during our recent stay at your hotel. The food and overall ambiance were truly exceptional, and these aspects of our visit were very enjoyable.

However, I would like to bring to your attention a few concerns that affected our comfort. Despite having small children and a pregnant woman in our party, we were assigned a sea view room on the second floor without lift access. This made it quite challenging to navigate with a baby pram and multiple pieces of luggage.

Additionally, the sleeping arrangements were not ideal. The room was equipped with single beds for each person, including the children. Unfortunately, the mattresses were uncomfortable and the beds of low quality, tending to move around, which significantly impacted our rest.

While we loved many aspects of our stay, addressing these issues would greatly enhance the experience for families like ours. Thank you for considering our feedback, and we look forward to seeing how you continue to improve the guest experience.

Dear Ashish, Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that certain aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. We understand the inconvenience caused by the room assignment, especially when traveling with small children and expecting mothers. Our hotel aims to provide a comfortable and accessible environment, and we regret that on this occasion, we fell short of this commitment. Furthermore, we apologize for the discomfort experienced due to the sleeping arrangements and the quality of the beds. We strive to ensure a restful night's sleep for all our guests, and your feedback is crucial in addressing these concerns. Despite these issues, we are delighted that you enjoyed the culinary offerings and the overall atmosphere of our hotel. Our buffet restaurant takes pride in serving a wide range of international cuisine and local Canary Island specialties, and it is great to know that these were highlights of your visit. We hope to welcome you again in the future. Best regards, Equipo de Dirección Occidental Jandía Resort

I wanted to comment on the family vacation we spent at the hotel. My husband and I went with our three children, ages 8 years, 2 years and 2 months. I have to say that we arrived at the hotel with low expectations due to all the comments read, regarding the food, cleanliness and the existence of cockroaches above all. To my surprise, nothing to do with the comments, you can go with complete peace of mind, the cleaning is correct, everything is clean in general, rooms, facilities...if we believe that the dining room becomes small at times for so many people, and the constant lack of glasses is important. For the rest, the food was very good, we never saw a cockroach!!!!! The pools were fine, there were some glasses but gentlemen!!! this is not the hotel's fault, it is It's the guests' fault!!! I saw more than once how people left the pools leaving their glasses on the ground, let's start there, and the waiters picked them up when they could, the truth is that adults are worse than children. If you want them to serve you your drink and pick it up in the hammock, then you pay a few euros more and you go to a five-star hotel and you press a button on the umbrella. They have that service. The rooms were very good, large and with many details such as a toothbrush, you sleep well on the mattresses, we didn't like the pillows. The water park for children and adults is spectacular. I don't know who enjoyed them more, my children or us. In conclusion, we had a great experience Great and we will definitely repeat!!!! Thank you to all the wonderful waiters and lifeguards!

I rate the hotel very positively and I don't fully understand some of the unfavorable opinions, but maybe it's a matter of the package we chose (it was an upgrade). The hotel is located not far from the beach (800-900m) which is reached by a quiet road with an underground passage, but the descent (or entrance:)) is steep for most of it (there is a shuttle on the hotel-beach-hotel line twice a day, which we didn't use). The room may need renovation, but it is very spacious, with a gigantic bathroom and comfortable mattresses (this is key for us). The minibar is refilled every day. The food is very good (pizza, fish, ice cream), although it was sometimes colder at later times of service. Beverages and alcohol (branded including very good beers) served in several outdoor and indoor bars, at a high level. If you have the opportunity to use the Toscana restaurant, I highly recommend it. The swimming pools (including the water park) and the surrounding infrastructure with bars are maintained at a high level. The SPA is very nice and adapted for children, the gym is also decently equipped. There is a covered parking lot next to the hotel, but there are many parking spaces in front of the hotel (on the street). The service is polite and helpful, but the entertainment deserves an additional star, especially the evening ones: a cross-section of variety and the quality of these performances at the highest level. Everyone will find something for themselves, from dances, through magicians' performances or quizzes. The overall assessment is very good and we had no comments. Worth recommending.

We visited Occidental Jandia Mar with a large family group between Christmas and New Years (30th December - 6th January 2025) and were left very disappointed with the standards of this hotel.

We arrived at the hotel at 9pm on the Monday and as you can imagine we were all very tired from travelling all day and were hoping to get into our rooms and relax for the evening. However, we encountered various issues with our rooms and booking. Firstly, we found we were all dotted around this very large complex even though we were all on the same booking. To add to this my partner and I were travelling with our four month old baby and had requested a room with a cot, which we hadn’t received. We also needed a kettle in our room to make our daughters milk during the night. So we ended up having to spend a large chunk of our evening arranging for a cot and discussing getting a kettle for the room. The worst part of this was the reception staff who were so rude and unhelpful. They were making comments under their breath and speaking in Spanish, which I’m sure was so we couldn’t understand what they were saying. They said we couldn’t have a kettle until tomorrow and that I could use there microwave in the night, which wasn’t ideal. To add to this the reception staff refused to give us our premium wristbands for 2 days even though we had evidence we had paid for it. Even though, this wasn’t the start to the holiday we wanted we didn’t want it to ruin our time, so woke up hoping for things to improve.

The food in the buffet wasn’t great and was cold a lot of the time. Although, the food on New Years Eve was really nice and the staff in the restaurant were lovely. The hotel seemed to be lacking staff as we had to wait in very long queue for drinks. Speaking with other guests, the staff also tried to start charging guests for drinks on New Years Eve, which is ridiculous as it’s an all inclusive.

The most worrying thing about this hotel was the colour of the water coming out of the taps in our room. When running my daughter a bath I noticed the water was a disgusting yellow colour, please see picture attached. The staff tried to say it was the laundry detergent, which is rubbish as it left a dirty stain around the rim of bath. Speaking with our neighbours they were trying to move people to other rooms, whilst also asking them to sign a non disclosure agreement, to try and stop them from mentioning this to other guests. I had been sterilising my daughters bottled in this water for a few days, which I think led her to having an upset stomach. Both my partner and me also got ill from what we think was from the water in the hotel.

This hotel needs a lot of improvement, especially in the customer service department. I will say this hotel has a lot of good entertainment for young families. However, I wouldn’t recommend staying at until they have addressed the above issues.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your review. We are deeply sorry to hear about the various issues you encountered, notably with the room allocation and the amenities for your baby. Our intent is to offer seamless service from the moment of arrival, and it's clear we fell short in this instance. We understand how important it is for families to have the requested items, such as a cot and kettle, readily available, particularly with a young child. Additionally, we apologize for the manner in which your concerns were addressed by our reception staff. It is disappointing to learn that we did not deliver the warm and efficient service we strive for. Regarding the delay in providing your premium wristbands, we recognize that this should have been handled promptly and accurately as per your booking details. Concerning the food temperature at the buffet, we aim to provide a wide selection of quality dishes and will be reviewing our procedures to ensure that all offerings are served at the appropriate temperature. The incident with the tap water in your room is concerning, and we are investigating this to understand what may have caused the discoloration and to address it immediately. We take the well-being of our guests seriously and are distressed to hear about the health issues experienced by your family, which we sincerely regret. However, we are pleased that you found the New Year's Eve dining experience to your liking and that our restaurant staff made a positive impression. It is also gratifying to know that the entertainment provided for families was a highlight of your stay. We look forward to welcoming you very soon. Best regards, Equipo de Dirección Occidental Jandía Resort

We were very satisfied with the environment, the hotel rooms are spacious and clean, rather uncomfortable beds, but spacious built-in wardrobes and enough hangers. We are traditionally unlucky with the shower - it didn't close and didn't have a curtain, so we had to be careful not to spill everywhere. There are no insects in the rooms, nothing basically flies on the island, there are no wasps, but unfortunately we saw a couple of really big cockroaches on the stairs outside the hotel, which worried me, so we didn't sleep with the door open so we wouldn't bring them home. They advertise wi-fi in the rooms, but basically it doesn't work, only for a while early in the morning. The restaurant is spacious, you can always find a table in peace, the waiters try to clean quickly. The food is varied, tasty, always some seafood and fish, but also European food, really everyone can choose and everything is tasty and they keep adding. Only sometimes a little warm. Pools nice and clean, but we never use them, plenty of sunbeds around. The sea is not that far as the crow flies, but since there is basically only one access road, we ended up measuring about 1.2 km to the nearest beach and the hotel is at the top of the hill, so the way from the beach is half up the hill. But since it's not dead hot and it's windy, we didn't mind. But probably a problem for less able walkers, the shuttle bus does not run often. But the reward is the kilometers of uninterrupted beaches, which are also wide and spacious, people literally get lost there, you don't feel like someone is constantly breathing down your back. Plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas for a fee. The sea is beautiful, but we were lucky enough to have big waves. Walking along the promenade along the beaches there are many shops where you can buy everything from clothes, perfumes and souvenirs to food, we found one Spar. A very nice experience for us and a beautiful relaxing holiday, if it weren't for the cockroaches, without a single mistake.

Child-friendly hotel on the mountain!!
Ideal for families with children, entertainment for adults at the pool can be a bit annoying, but children's entertainment is very important!
New water fun park for small and large children.
Very large selection of good food!!
2 x bus shuttle to the beach.
Massages and pedicures in the spa are a bit expensive, but the 70-minute Ayurveda massage from Ms. Tabata was a highlight.
A big compliment and thank you to the reception staff, Ms. Nathalie Escalante and Mr. Luis Ramos, for the decoration and organization for a birthday child.
The dress code in the restaurant should be more closely monitored, a no-go in swimwear for lunch and an absolute no-go in flip-flops and short sports shorts for dinner.
One very negative thing was the sunbeds in the shade reserved very early in the morning and some of them by people with sunbeds reserved for hours and not used, this should be checked more often and put a stop to by putting away towels.
Despite everything, we will be back!!

noisy, several times I had to ask for replacement of cutlery in the restaurant - they give out dirty, plates on the points also sometimes leave much to be desired. Coffee machines are regularly broken or poured it is unclear what, hot chocolate without chocolate, coffee with milk without milk, quality and coffee and milk average. Late October, maybe "out of season" but soured watermelons and rotted melons are the norm, there's every chance of replacing sunbathing with a dark toilet. Ice cream and sweets are full. Meat is also good, EACH time there are several kinds of fish on the grill and several kinds of meats are accompanied by meat and rice dishes like paella, beef strogan, whole baked ducks/turkeys. bakeries for every taste and color, muffins, croissants. The staff is polite but slow, quite consistent with the Spanish. One warm pool, full, within a meter constantly someone "bottles," kids normal. The second pool is unheated, the children's aquatic playground with fountains feels good too. The water park is medium temperature, neither cold nor warm, the slides are varied for all ages and three are straight huge, the limit for children is 10+. The beach is nice and sandy and the surf line is clean and shallow comfortable to hang out floating on the waves, in the afternoon the water breaks slightly and the surf zone warms up perfectly, walking is not difficult, but returning steep long climb, for the youngest and oldest can prove difficult. shuttle from the hotel to the "shopping center", from which 5 minutes to the beach. Medium quality for average price. All the cons overlap unlimited WINE, pink, excellent quality. The beer is also good, not empty but not dense, suitable for heat, but smears it heavily on the deckchair. We only went for the water park, before that we were next door to Princess, quieter, cozier, cleaner, better (coffee and wine worse), but there the pools for the baby are already "small."

We have just spent New Year's Eve and a few more days in this hotel, to enjoy Fuerteventura. We have been very comfortable in the connecting rooms. The separate slide park is new and has been a delight for the children. The pool is heated and It has been a joy to enjoy the wonderful weather of Fuerteventura at this time. It has been better than expected, a different Christmas. The New Year's Eve dinner has been spectacular with drink service at the table, good decoration and very well presented food. The New Year's Eve party is very good with party favors, grapes and fireworks.
I have also seen points against it, the breakfasts are somewhat weak without serrano ham or yogurts and the replenishment is not adequate. Also at lunch and dinner half an hour before closing we no longer saw replenishment so you have to go during regular hours In general, they start clearing the water park and dining rooms ahead of time. The location is quiet and parking is easy on the street, there is an exit to the street in the back area.

I have to block all negative reviews absolutely first. If you know you're flying into a family hotel, you can't expect a five-star superior.
families Single both couples can spend a wonderful holiday here.
The complex is very spacious, you don't notice the number of many guests at all.
Very positive to note is that one of the pools with hot water was ideal for the children the second pool between 21 and 24°. Ideal for swimming.
The water park is also a highlight for all age groups children very great once a week foam party.
The staff, whether service kitchen, reception cleaning always very friendly and helpful. Those who want the beach can either walk with a short steep ascent or four times a day there is a bus shuttle, which you can use for free. At the normal buffet restaurant there are different theme nights every day and there is definitely something for everyone. This is not a star restaurant is should be clear to everyone actually the food was freshly cooked, sustainable and varied.
Every day, fresh fruit, salads, fresh fish, meat and children's dishes.
That of course others with guests take either have forgotten at home or never had one, the hotel unfortunately can do nothing. Table manners are not spelled highly or not at all by commanding guests. However, the service personnel are always on the move and try to clean the bomb tables again for the next guests. Evening program is made for everyone individually for the children super, and the kids club is mega, German English, Spanish with mottos and varied, whether pirate costume, party or mini cooking class.
I have a small catch with ground-floor rooms but this should be booked in advance, who wants to leave the windows open at night.
The rooms are spacious With large comfortable beds nice terrace to sit in the evening. Of course you can see that it has also come of age but the renovation work is constantly underway and you can tell that it is not a standstill.

Myself, husband and 2 year old daughter visited this hotel for a week in January.
The hotel as people have described is at the top of a steep hill, we walked this hill 3 times during out stay with a pram, it is steep but it is also walkable so don't be put off it by too much.

We had all inclusive and I had read reviews about all inclusive plus before we arrived and was worried we needed to upgrade, to be honest I'm glad we didn't waste our money because going all inclusive was absolutely fine.
Drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic were absolutely fine. The hot chocolate from the self serve machines were delish 😋
Food was fine from both the buffet and snack bar by the pool, food was hot and something for everyone, including me who is very fussy!
Only thing I didnt see was hash browns at breakfast 😰

We stayed around the heated pool, there was plenty of sunbeds at any time of day, no having to reserve/fight for any. Take a sunbed towel if you don't want to pay a deposit for one.
The splash park, although it was only open Thursday- Sunday when we were there, it was a great little place right on your doorstep.
The entertainment was good, kids disco really got the kids involved. Jan from the entertainment crew was really enthusiastic and really engaging.

The room wasn't the best but then again we only booked a standard room. It was spacious enough, although there wasn't a floor length mirror, lighting also wasn't the best. The bath was hard to fill up also with it being next to a solid wall inbetween the bath and sink. And directions to the room werent the best.

We had our photos professionally taken from the hotel photographer, they were stunning photos and charged at €11 a picture although we were told a "good deal" would happen, €390 to us wasn't the best deal so in the end we just bought 5 photos although could have bought so many more but if you do want photos, budget for this ☺️

We would come back to this hotel as the grounds were beautiful and well maintained, we even said we weren't ready to return home which normally you want to get back to your bed.

My only negative comment is that there is no concierge to help you with your bags when you arrive. We had 3 large suitcases, 3 hand luggage, a pram and a tired / irritable 2 year old and we had to struggle walking round the hotel trying to find our room with our luggage.

Yes, the gym opens fully when the spa opens. You need to pass through the spa to get to the gym, but you can get a gym card that allows you access to the gym earlier. I think possibly there is a cost I'm not sure
