Detailed Reviews
The cottages are wonderfully set up and very restful. Good walking in all directions, and a first-rate vineyard and restaurant next door. Fireplace stoves work excellently and there was never a chance we might be cold. Keruru and tuis throughout the beautiful gardens. Blackbirds sing from the trees at sunset. Chorus of birds at dawn and a well-catered breakfast when humans eventually emerge as well. Delightful.

I’ve stayed at Vineyard Cottages a couple of times, and each time I love it a little bit more. As soon as you turn into the driveway, you’re transported to a world away from work and worry. Elle and Barry are perfect hosts, checking on you just enough so you feel cared for, but not so much that it disturbs your serenity.
Each cottage is named and styled after wines; westayed in the Sauvignon Blanc cottage, which has the cutest little courtyard for enjoying a glass of something special amongst the vines. All the bathroom products are eco-friendly, the furniture sturdy and good quality, the wood polished and the rooms clean. And the beds are so comfy!
This wasn’t our first stay at Vineyard Cottages, and it won’t be our last. The perfect couples retreat.

We just stopped here to celebrate our 31st Wedding Anniversary. We booked an overnight stay with a High Tea and evening meal.
We stayed in the Pinot Noir cabin, it was spotlessly clean, comfortable bed and cozy with a roaring real fire to keep us warm.
The Hight Tea was a delicious mix of savory and sweet treats, washed down with a pot of tea and a bottle of bubbles.
An evening meal was prepared for us to reheat when we were ready to eat. It too was very tasty and well prepared.
All in all a wonderful night away from the city with the added treat of waking up to bird song no traffic noise.

Beautiful setting, great to have stand-alone accomodation, well presented cottages.
They looked attractive from the outside but when you approached and opened the door it was amazing! We love rustic decorating and got just what we love here, so roomy, too. All the furniture and surroundings were so quaint, every last detail was carefully thought about.
I am very concerned about the environment and LOVED that they are, too. The foods, beverages and bathroom items were as environmentally friendly as possible, great to see people who care! A very detailed information folder to browse through was helpful.
The fact that there was a fireplace to use was charming, the bed was really comfortable and we were left scones, jam and cream - yum! The orange juice for breakfast was so tasty. Elle and Barry were very friendly and helpful, Thanks :)

We prepaid our wedding accommodation out of the goodness of our heart, unfortunately we both went into level 4 lockdown for our booking/wedding. Upon rebooking a month later Elle rebooked us and advised of a price increase, i questioned the price increase as we prepaid and to book online would work out cheaper than what she was offering us, no response, I’ve emailed again for a refund and she’s still not responding. My advice would be to book online and only pay on arrival.

I'm sorry you felt the need to be utterly vindictive over every form of social media and review site possible. To set the record straight for people reading our reviews : The original booking for a group booking for multiple cottages and therefore a group price We moved the booking two or three times to accommodate the covid related change of dates When you booked for the final time if was for three rooms only and only one night, in a different price bracket. We received the email when we were away from the business for two nights because of a personal tragedy and when we got back to work you had already taken to the review sites. Throughout the covid period we did everything we could to be accommodating to all of our guests and survive. 99.9% of them appreciated everything we did. There is always .1% who make hard. To future guests, you will see from our other reviews, we love our guests, our property and our business. If you'd like to come and stay, please call us directly, mention this review and we'll be happy to offer you an early check in and late check out.

This was a solo staycation for me and I absolutely fell in love. It felt like a fairytale and hard to believe this is only a half hour outside of Auckland! There was a lovely breakfast hamper sitting on the kitchen table. Fresh juice, yoghurt and milk in the fridge. I booked the Winter at VC package which included a welcome platter of yummy artisan produce.
My first morning, I was welcomed with warm scones with fresh cream and jam which was absolute heaven. I couldn't seem to peel myself away from the cosy fire which offered a great setting to get lost in a book. The outdoor setting made me believe I was a million miles away and offered so much privacy. Waking up to absolute stillness and birds chirping, the serene countryside out my window, a stone's throw from The Hunting Lodge, I mean, does it get any better?!
Elle was an amazing host and I felt completely recharged after my stay. It was extremely hard to leave but I believe i've found my oasis for future getaways. Thank you so much again.

Had a wedding to attend at The Hunting lodge right next door. Booked and stayed in Sauvignon Blanc cottage. What an amazing cottage, everything inside was so well detailed to the style of the cottage owners were amazing. I have told my family to book there and will definitely book there again. Breakfast was included and nicely presented waiting in the fridge with homemade jams fresh orange juice and plenty of milk. (Not satchel milk) Had the best sleep wish I had of booked for longer.

If you are looking for a place to escape reality and snuggle up then this is THE place.
Our family of four (mum, dad and two littllies) headed over for a much needed post lock down getaway.
What a magical experience. The cutest little settlers cottages with log burner and original features, all set amongst NZ vines.
Walk around the state, visit the beehives and the neighbouring cows, head over to the fabulous Hunting Lodge winery restaurant next door or simply snuggle up in front of the fire with a good book and a hot chocolate.
Good for the soul!

There are limited accommodation options in the area. We thought that at $325 per night this place seemed expensive but decided that it must be exceptional.
We were very disappointed! The whole complex is very tired and rundown. The individual cottages are supposed to be rustic and may have been nice 20 years ago.
For the price overall facilities were not up to standard.
They offered a self serve breakfast which was minimal for the price.
Shower was difficult to maintain a constant temperature.
Lounge furniture was tired, grubby and uncomfortable.
The venue offers a conference and events service. Perhaps if fully booked for such a function it may operate better.
Whole property needs a makeover and may be better suited for a summer stay rather than a mid winter one.
Only redeeming feature was the log burner fire. Lovely on a cold winter night.
