Detailed Reviews
We stayed in one of the tent-style rooms with a nice view towards the river, the porch was perfect to enjoy sunrise/sunset or simply enjoy the view and sounds of the jungle. The owner was very nice and had great tips for exploring the national park. Food was also nice and they were very flexible when my friend had a stomach ache and didn’t feel like eating anything off the menu.

Fantastic place run by great people. A perfect place to stay while exploring Cat Tien national park. The owners went out of their way to help us plan our stay in the park. The lodge itself cooks great food and is full of information relating the park

We stayed in a comfortable well appointed platform tent with a deck overlooking the river. The lodge with delicious meals, lovely deck, comfortable sofas was close by. The staff, Abbi , loannis and Ka tu yem are kind, helpful and very knowledgeable about the surrounding jungle and its varied and diverse ecology. The lodge operation is based on sound practices of sustainability. The food is great. An upgrade of the bicycles would be nice and maybe some hammocks. The birding is spectacular.

The location is lovely right in the national park. The owners are very friendly and willing. However the room did not live up to the website photos. My room was dark, the outside light did not work and both my room and the bathroom was dirty. The three light switches at the door to my room did not turn any lights on. The AC did not work and that was fixed after the first night but they did not provide a remote so I could not turn it on. The bed had mosquito netting but had gaps between the sections rather than overlapping.

There is a lot to like about Forest Floor Lodge. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. We had Abi do several walks with us and she was excellent. The food is good. We stayed in the tents, which were very good. We probably had higher expectations of seeing more animals than what we did. The gibbon rehabilitation centre was closed when we were there and the dawn gibbon guided walk was booked out for two weeks, which was disappointing (it would hav e been good to be forewarned that we needed to book so far ahead). While the bear rehabilitation centre was excellent, there wasn’t lots of other animals around during our walks. But it was still a good place to go and we’d recommend Forest Floor.

We had 2 nights/days in this location and enjoyed it a lot. If you go, you have to be active in nature. We did an amazing Gibbon Walk and a beautiful hike to the Crocodile Lake. The staff and the owners of the lodge are wonderful people. The spot as such is great - you have to be aware that you are in nature.

The only quality accommodation actually within the Cat Tien National Park. We came looking for wildlife and as this was in the middle of the park we expected a certain level of discomfort. Not at all. Our room was comfortable with a huge bed, an excellent bathroom and a very efficient air conditioning unit. Don't forget this is an eco Lodge and the a/c is turned off overnight. The restaurant menu is fairly small but the food is of high quality and tastes wonderfull. Vietnamese food in the evening and a superb English breakfast. Our hosts, Mai and Roy, made us extremely welcome and went out of their way to ensure we were happy with everything.
During our stay we took several walking tours including one to Crocodile Lake. A night safari and a boat trip, including wildlife spotting, to the nearest village. Our guide, provided by the Lodge, was extremely well informed, very enthusiastic and keen to explain all of the flora and fauna that we encountered. An exceptional experience. Thank you!

Don't know if that was our bad luck or not, but when we arrived, there was no-one to contact for a reservation. There was only this one girl who's very grumpy at all time, seemed like she worked at the restaurant as a waitress but turned out she's the receptionist as well. At first, we went to the restaurant/bar for lunch. I asked for the menu and that girl looked at me with an unpleasant look and said "The restaurant is closed today". Funny thing is she told us that while bringing food to a table for a group of Westerner. We never understood that, and some of us were already angry by her attitude, but we chose to let it go and asked her where should we contact for a resevation. she pointed downtairs, so we went downstair and there was nobody there! I wait for 30 mins or so, very tired and still nobody showed up. We then decided to ask around for the receptionist and that very same girl came out from the kitchen, yelling at us: "You can only talk to me and nobody else!! Do you understand??".
Now, I was trying my best to not get mad while she's yelling at my face, and followed her to the reception desk to check in. I asked her "I heard that you guys are running a promotion from now to October, is that true?", and she looked at me with that grumpy face again and said "I don't know".
I said "You are the receptionist, you have to know either that is a yes or a no, you have to know, right?"
And she seemed very angry, repeated "I don't know"
"so if you don't know, is there anyone you can call to verify this information about the promotion?"
After that sentence, she looked at us, and said: There're plenty of room available at the headquarter of the park, the price is very cheap, so if you can't afford our price, just go back there for tonight"
I was shocked!!! i couldn't believe she talked to a customer in that manner and tone, but still, I put in my last effort to say: "I love it here, you guys have such great views and the place is just so much more private. I've been to this park for many years, I always stayed at the headquarter, now I just want to stay here, I prefer the silence at night"
then, to my surprise, she pouted her lips, mimicked my voice "Yeah, silence at night", and WALKED AWAY.
she walked away on us, on the customers.
So first we were ditched from the restaurant and then she basically hinted that if we don't have the money to stay there, just go away, don't waste her time.
What kind of service was that?
We had no choice but walking away, since she refused to talk with us. We never understood what happened that day, maybe it's because we are a group of Asians and that girl was really racist, or maybe that was just our bad luck. For all i know, everyone in the group was very very very angry and they said they would never come back to this place and would tell their friends and family so.
Well maybe that girl was right, we shouldn't be there at all. We should just stay at the headquarter, people are so much nicer and friendlier.

We had a very bad start to our visit. We booked the Forest Floor Lodge luxury car to take us there from HCMC.Expecting air con and seat belts we got no air con, no seat belts and no padding. The driver got completely lost and the trip took us 11 hours. The staff were very apologetic and offered to refund the difference between the ordinary car and the Forest Lodge car. The children were exhausted so we changed the day for the Gibbon Trek and went to the bear rehabilitation centre. We enjoyed our visit there however could have easliy done ourselves. We left late, not being told that there was a time set to see all of the bears and the internal workings of the centre,so we only saw some of the bears. It was wonderful to see them and we were lucky enough to have a chat with a vet who was working there, he had many stories for the kids about the travels of the bears to end up at the centre. The next day we did the Gibbon Trek, unlike everyone that did the Gibbon Trek, leaving at 4.30 - 5am in a golf buggy and returning a few hours later we were asked to leave at 6am and walk. We did see some animals and heard the spectacular call of the Gibbons in the morning however I couldn't help wonder what we were missing out on after hearing others tales. The tours are expensive, and I think I would have preferred to have given a donation direct to the animal centres.
The lodge itself is nice enough and the food anywhere in Vietnam is hard to fault. The staff were very friendly. It is beautifully located, and the sounds of the forest magical. Car to Dalat was a much better experience although the damage had been done, two tired children and partner with a sore back!

Two nights/three days at the Forest Floor Lodge in Nam Cat Tien National Park in April. It was hot, muggy, somewhat hard to get to … and we absolutely loved the experience because it was so different from everything else we did in Vietnam. The sights and sounds of the forest were incredible: beautiful speciosa trees and many other plants; birds; cicadas (massive waves of cicadas flying and singing at 90+ db); gorgeous sunrises across the rapids of the Dong Nai River; golden-cheeked gibbons calling in Dao Tien Endangered Primate Species Center. In the morning, the gibbons make an incredibly loud sound like sirens, so loud that we initially thought there was truly an emergency somewhere.
We stayed in one of the river-view tents and felt it was absolutely worth the splurge. The proprietors and staff were very friendly and gracious, the food was delicious, and you actually have a private bathroom – a bit primitive, of course, but perfectly adequate, and our room even came with a personal gecko in the shower cabinet that was so loud at times I about jumped out of my skin. I concur with the other reviewer who wondered why some reviewers don’t manage their expectations given the location of Forest Floor Lodge in the middle of a tropical forest/jungle. (FYI, if you stay in the little village near park headquarters, it will be considerably less expensive and there will probably be considerably more noise from the bar(s) and karaoke there.)
I’m sure that visiting this park (and staying at this lodge) aren’t for everyone, and if you go, make sure you are prepared for the right type of weather. But if you’re up for a little adventure and exercise, it makes for a great experience.
