Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed here toward the end of Feb 2024. An absolutely lovely B&B. We were picked up after our flight from Invercargill at the flight centre in Oban by Peter and immediately treated to a full tour of the town. His wife Iris greeted us at the B&B with a detailed tour of the shared quarters and our room. Our room was spacious, overlooked the back garden and a long scenic view over the town and out to sea. The lodge is located up on a hill, so the view is wonderful to wake up to in the morning. The bed was very comfortable. The shared kitchen is well stocked, and opens up to a shared room with furnishings for sitting and enjoying a meal, the view, and reading. Peter took us on a wonderful tour of Ulva island the next day. He has been on Stewart Island from age 21 and is now 77. His first job was attending to the preservation of species on Ulva Island so he knows it like the back of his hand. Truly and amazing experience to stay with them. This is their daughter's B&B who is away in England. Peter and Iris also run their own B&B as well nearby.

Wonderful place to stay - spacious, comfortable and well-located but more importantly Peter and Iris know how to host and care for those staying.
Peter made our trip to Ulva Island so much more, with his intimate knowledge from years of working and caring for it. Equally the road trip with him gave us just the sort of insight we enjoy, to start to get a sense of the history and how a community works. Three days, definitely not enough but a great introduction to Rakiura.

This lodge is tops. Close to everything, Amazing views. Fully equiped kitchen to cook for yourselves.Awesome hosts, super friendly, and Iris loves to make sure you are happy and comfortable. Lovely rooms, each with their own bathroom and view. Kaka visit you everyday on the deck. They peck at the window to let you know they are there. Accommodation comes with a tour to Ulva island with Peter and his endless wealth of knowledge. You dont want to miss Ulva. We spent 4 of the best days of our 7week holiday in the South Island here.

The room is spacious. Good location. As the owner is a retired ranger, he gave us the Ulva island tour. He is very knowledgeable. The owners looked after us very well. They gave us a great piece of information. We were very lucky to see a daytime kiwi too.
