Error in our travel arrangements, I am sure could have been easily sorted if the foyer had been open. Ringing the bell & knocking on the doors did not get answered. HANG ON A SEC, FOYER OPEN TILL 9pm said the sign.& it was just past 8:30pm ... so? Being tired from all day flying we were annoyed to say the least ... & totally bemused at how an airport hotel can close its main doors before the last of the passenger influx from Queenstown airport !!! What to do? Holiday Inn 10 paces over laneway was open, looking vibrant, Bar/Restaurant still open... solved. Staff warm & totally accommodating. I subsequently cancelled my forward reservation with Wyndham Gardens & we returned 2 weeks later to... guess where? MISSED OPPORTUNITIES. YES INTERNATIONAL TRAVELLERS HAVE RETURNED . & you need to lift your game!…
The building is hermetically sealed, relying on heatpumps to cool the rooms in the blazing summer sun. What that means is that the rooms are often very hot and exceptionally stuffy. In addition, there are strict limitations on how much laundry powder, shower gel, toilet paper and other consumables that guest can use, something I've not come across before
Clean, bright, quiet, handy for shops and airport, well equipped, excellent value and very helpful staff. Equipment provided included washing machine ,clothes dryer, fridge, dishwasher, microwave and induction cook top.
Very hard bed, making sleep very much a challenge.Sofa was uncomfortable so it was pretty much difficult to relax in comfort. Not a very aesthetically pleasing environment other than the view outside. Dishwasher and laundry facilities good though.
Garbage. Woefully insufficient parking on site, not even half as many parks as rooms. I used to stay here regularly for work but have just cancelled my next two visits which I had pre-booked. Arrived in the evening in pouring rain and was told there are no parks so you'll have to pay at the public carpark half a kilometer down the road. The carpark in question was more of a muddy bog in an open field and I got utterly drenched walking back to the hotel (so did my luggage and laptop bag so I didn't even have a change of clothes). Needless to say I'm not impressed and to add insult to injury their listing on Expedia says free on site parking included. I will never stay here again.
