Obviously there is not alot of choice when it comes to accommodation in Tuatapere but we book Last Light Lodge because it looked the best option. The room was clean and tidy but I thought somewhat overpriced at $140 when it didn't even have a private bathroom. Also TV dropped out constantly on the first day and there was no where to hang any clothes in your room or even put your bag on. Having a mirror in the rooms would also be a good touch

Thank you for your review. We have never advertised private bathrooms and clearly state shared facilities. it is a remote place, seasonal work, high costs with lower occupancy, not like in Queenstown for example, the room rates reflect returns. Tv runs on wifi, we are limited by service, however optic fiber should be connected to the town this year. Also we are always trying to improve as it is a building from the 70s - the new deluxe rooms that you were in are from November 2020 - and we take notes of your remarks to make the room more comfortable.

As part of our camp stay we were able to book a 2-course gourmet meal. It was lamb rump and apple crumble tonight. Truly best meal of our South Island trip. $50 p/p incl a wine or beer...such good value. Highly recommend this for a place to stop over. Thank you again for a lovely meal.

My husband and I stayed here the night before our Humpridge Tramp. We stayed in the newly renovated deluxe accommodation with shared bathroom. Really good value. Comfortable bed and nice and warm. We highly recommend having the dinner and breakfast. Classy dinner of blue cod, dessert of creme brûlée and a drink. The best breakfast to walk on too. Thanks for the hospitality.

We decided to book here at the last minute, instead of an early morning drive from Queenstown, before we walked the Humpridge. We stayed in the Delux Cabins which were clean and very comfortable. The evening meal was delicious and we loved the way the different groups sat together at the tables. Breakfast and our packed lunch was also delicious. The hosts were friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere of the place was great. The perfect place to stay before heading out on the Humpridge Track.

This was a perfect place to stay prior to walking the Humpridge Track. The hosts are incredibly friendly - warm, happy and welcoming. The evening meal was top class. We had blue cod which was cooked to perfection. The beds are comfortable with crisp white sheets, hot water bottles, if required, and everything is very clean. I would highly recommend this place. Loved it.
