I have been to several all inclusives and this is definitely the best all around….the food is really delicious especially el Mercado if you love Mexican food! Alejandro with the entertainment staff was always super kind and accommodating! He reminded me of how fun it is to exercise in the pool. Luis Ku at el cielo was exceptionally lovely, kind, and fun!! So glad our week lined up with his time at el cielo. And Gabriela at El Cielo was so warm and funny and always made our time at the el cielo pool great! And Daniel at el cielo bar…thank you for so many delicious cocktails and making special non alcohol drinks too! Thank you to all the wonderful staff at Atelier!
We have just returned from 3 amazing weeks, from December 12 to January 2nd at Atelier Playa Mujeres. We went there with great expectations based on all of its great reviews we have seen everywhere. It did no disappoint. The check-in was smooth. However it was missing some useful information. For instance no mention on the fact that all restaurant menus are available as QR codes instead of huge and cumbersome tablets. So it is a good idea to have a phone or tablet around. No mention either of the ATELIER mobile application that makes it easy to follow on the activities, make reservation. Also it was strange that on the check-in I requested an update to INSPIRA status on which they were supposed to come back to me and never did, while I later found out that Inspira upgrade were available on the application. The general architecture and materials used in the hotel were amazing. Its design reminded me of a great cruise ship that landed in a middle of a golf course. The landscaping was also memorable as it is niched in greens and threes sheltering a great variety of birds, raccoons, foxes, little grass snakes and iguanas. There is even a park if you bring your little dog companion. Its “art concept” is well integrated. While we stayed there, we saw clients of all ages and venues mixing with a generally zen and cool atmosphere. There are no shops or restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel, you will find some distance away the Hotels Excellence towards the South and Dreams up north with a dolphin tank. The Hotel make up for it with its beautiful discothèque opened till 3 am. This was also the place used for a most excellent Tequila and Mezcal class. You can also find a great refuge for the soul in their quaint and luminous chapel. The beach has great white sands to take long walks or to jog on. Swimming could be great as it is all sand underneath the warm Caribbean waters. It is without rocks; however strong wind brought some grass and algues on somedays. Tough it is true that the hotel already shows some wear for its young age, you will find personnel around busy working around on maintenance and restoration. The concierges such as Sandra and Andriana were helpful and always quick to respond. The room was spacious with one of the most comfortable beds I ever had. Great balcony and view I enjoyed for hours. There should be a way to kill those balcony’s bright spot lights at night! Moreover, the cleaning staff was uneven, missing to attend our room now and then. So tough the room was generally clean, it was not as immaculate as other hotel I have been in. We had to inquire about getting essentials as Kleenex and toilet paper. Our request were however promptly answered. I believe we were an exception here. Room service was fantastic, great food selection and it tasted great. The Spa offer the usual pampering but as well a sport oriented centre. The hydrotherapy there was out of this world. Food, it is definitely one of the great hi-lights of this hotel. The taste were often sublime, with a presentation that was soothing for hungry eyes. Everything was amazingly fresh. Someone with food allergies (like my mom with garlic, oignions and chives) never missed out. House wines were good. I started my mornings with a comforting and a rich cappuccino and a fresh pastry from Cafecito. It is also the place for yummy sweets, desserts and ice creams. After watching the sun rise on the island of Mujeres, we went to breakfast at the Mercado 19. It had the best fruits, juices, 2 eggs stations choice of breads, cereals cheese and cold cuts plus typical Mexican breakfast items. It also hosted an excellent Mexican menu for dinner. El Suspiro has breakfast, but its best attribute is its seafood selection for Lunch. It also shines in the evening. It has at least 3 variety of Caribbean lobster (langouste) dishes (while other all-included would make you pay extra for those). Limon y Sal is popular for snacks. Great Nachos and other food! Alba in front of the Gym has juices, smoothies in the morning and light lunch and salads for lunch. Takeshi has great asiatic and Indian dishes. It is classy but can be slow and loud at times. Cilento was my favorite for lunch and dinner. It has the best view from its patio. Daniel the manager and its personnel were all dedicated. Pizzas are succulent and about everything else on the menu. Los Abrazos was formal, a very impressive steak house. Its buffet for appetizers is worth the visit. After dinner we enjoyed a drink and the splendid view from the Cielo bar. Also, do not forget to peek on the family side, Es studios. It also has great food venues. Consentida Cafetaria offered at time an international menu with some great roast beef, grilled steaks, chicken shrimps and all the othe stuffing with decadent desserts. It offered on another evening a delicious Mexican menu. A favourite was definitely Cale do Luna a Mediterranean restaurant. Some of the best dishes there were the moussaka, fish, lamb au jus. Kopai for sushi and Japanese food was unfortunately inconsistent as it went from the sublime to a disappointing unimpressive food within a week. But they have a great Sake. Maria Dolores is available for any guests that stay at least a week. Do not miss on an amazing culinary experience in an exclusive decor and formal service. The centre of activities of the Atelier is its pool with its two large swim out bar on its end. I loved soaking on that warm pool from dawn to sunset. Hervey was a great animator and dedicated to all. His Rumba and aqua-aerobics had always lot of participants trying to burn some calories while having fun. Also he was involved with a mayan ritual on the beach, art classes and gym assistant. Kevin is another animator and a great comedian, fun, dynamic and always willing. Also there, to insure that you have a great time, are Marcos and Jorge. Maybe more activities like funny Olympics should be scheduled. How about some Spanish or culture classes? La Calle bar is a magic place to be at night. Drinks are there an experience that pleases all of your senses. The Best day travel agency is there to offer you great excursions. The Christmas celebration were sophisticated (and fantastic especially at Estudios for the kids) but the New Year eve blew it out of the park with its special dinner and a wild party on the beach. Another remarkable accomplishment from this Hotel are its COVID measures. I felt safer there than I feel now back home. You can pay for either and antigen test (required in USA) as well as CPR test (as required by Canada) either standard (less than 72 hours) or less that 24 hours done right at the hotel. The hotel will give you freely a hospitality suite (and food) with regular testing is you have a positive result for as long as it is required. The hotel had an old familiar feel to it reminding me of the original Royal in Playa del Carmen. I learned that it involves the same family of the late original founder of Best Day travel and of the Royals and Real. If you are a member of the Real club, they will try to have convert to the Inspira program that requires more money investment within one of those breakfast sale pitch. If you want the Atelier to be one of you favorite return destination it may be for you. It offer better rooms and higher level of services. Not that I was not interested but this was not good time for such a financial investment. For me it was also a disappointment because of its hard sale approach. Also, advantages mentioned because of my 3 weeks stay never materialized despite vague promises. Also for the sake of the Hotel you have to be vigilant of the people with that Inspira status. It is true Inspira folks pay much more and therefore are therefore entitled to expect much more. However their coexistence with commoners like me were at time difficult. I witnessed some Inspira members showing little class, being truly condescending or mean with the personnel; another member making at one time racist statements saying about the guest of a different skin colour. (Bravo, the manager that promptly offered to that person to leave the hotel) Another was making a public tantrum yelling at every personnel he could find because there were no chair available for him at the main pool. Sometimes personnel would removed the towels that were reserving a chair by the pool without any inquiry, just to accommodate an Inspira members. The reservation of chair and cabana is still an early riser game but please, but please assume your reservation and limit yourself to one space. A lady had a cabana, 3 differently located chair all to herself while the hotel was full and people were seeking chairs. She wanted to follow the sun orientation throughout the day for her tanning. Check out was a sad time as we really did not want to leave. May I suggest that you have printers and desktop computers available for guests especially now with all the forms required nowadays at the airports for returning to our country of origin? Concierges should be familiar with the Mexican required documents such as the health questionnaire, or tourist tax (that were found then unnecessary for our departure at the Cancun airport). Overall a great and modern, original resort that should be especially proud to all its people working there. Thank you Atelier and all its personnel for one of my best stay ever in Mexico.…
We came to this resort for a wedding and have been Absolutely amazed at everything! The resort is beautiful. The rooms are stunning and the service is outstanding! We stayed in one of the Inspira rooftop suite and it’s beyond our wildest dreams. Our 2 butlers, Francisco and Martin have made our entire trip so memorable. They have made sure all our needs are met and have given EXCEPTIONAL service! It happened to be my birthday while we were there and they made my day extra special with wine, flowers and a personalized card. Any questions we had or anything we needed, they took care of without hesitation! My husband surprised me with a massage and facial and it was the best massage I’ve ever had! Monica was my therapist and was phenomenal! Even the 80s show was great! I highly recommend coming to this resort!…
With out a doubt this is a beautiful resort with amazing people. What makes this place be pleasant are the people that work in the service industry such as the pool and restaurant personal. I do want to take the time to recognize the following personal that made us feel like home: Luz-The Suspiró Restaurant James and Bricel and Gibretho from the pool Jessica and Nancy from El Cafecito Chef Jose Luis Robles, Alberto,Oscar,Ricardo at Cala di luna restaurant. And Alex from the entertainment. Mauricio from El Mercado in the AM. The rating is a 5+ for them and their service. The poor rating is for the following event. Each person has a story of why they either liked or disliked a place. My experience started out fine until my sunglasses “disappeared” from my room (this was in evening time that the event happened) we proceeded to do their process we talked to a concierge manager then security came to our room to check our luggage and belongings to make sure they weren’t misplaced. They did not find them they told me they would do a further investigation and then they would get back to me in 48-72 hours. I did a daily check up on the investigation as I didn’t want to be forgotten. On the 3rd day a very unapologetic man told me that they did mot find out anything and that they could not take responsibility. They also “generously wanted to offer credit for the hotel” and that this gesture was generous as they weren’t at fault. That was a slap on the face as what they were offering was not even up to par of the sunglasses cost. I did talk to a higher up and they apologized for the inconvenience and that they would continue to investigate. These folks invaded my privacy twice when they took my sunglasses as they know the other part of the story. As I was reading other reviews in the past 9months money also tends to disappear. This incident made the stay so uncomfortable. I will NEVER return here due to lack of privacy on 2 different occasions. Also their rooms are inconsistent sometimes they put towels and snacks and their are times that they don’t even bother. I also on my second to the last day I was locked out of my room due to that they thought we were leaving that day when we were not leaving until the next day. Don’t even bother of putting the do not disturb light they will still knock your door a wake you up from your nap. Words of advise don’t take valuables and if you do LOCK them up.…
Firstly, I would like to say that my overall experience at Atelier was unlike any other I've had before. From the hand towels and glasses of champagne upon arrival, to the phenomenal room and extravagant breakfast buffet, this resort is truly unlike any other. The other half, comes solely from the one of a kind staff. While there are countless others that contributed to my time at Atelier, there are a few in particular that I would like to mention for their excellent service. -- Mr.Javier, our outstanding Beach waiter. With Javier as your server, you're guaranteed a great day in sand. He goes above and beyond for this guests, no matter the request (or how many) Javier continually exceeds expectations. -- Alex, my water aerobics KING! If you told me my sister, dad, uncles, and 30 other guests (female AND male) would be singing, dancing, and working out to Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, I would have laughed at you. Not as hard as I did with Alex though. -- Roberto (Aquaworld Sailing Director) took my family out on the water, pointing out sea turtles, sailing into the clear blue waters, and EVEN saving my Dad's hat. Awesome experience!! -- James & Jhordy, both create a top-notch Beach concierge. Nothing like a fresh towel, bottle, of water, and smile every day!! Also shoutout to Gilberto, who has established an excellent team who raised my standard of luxury service. -- Mr.Manuel, Mario, and Carolina from Takeshi, WHAT an experience! From the personalized message on the table, to the incredible sushi and spectacular Pad Thai. I will be back!! -- Bruno (from El Suspiro) and Daniel (from Cilento) - ensured my Grandpa felt the love with his Happy Birthday signs, the lovely Opera singing, and the Tequila/dessert pairing at the end of our meal. Experiences that will bring me back!!…
