We arrived after midnight and didn't really know what to expect. We didn't mind trying this place out as other family members have recommended it. The wobbly doorhandle wasn't a good sign to start with, then the lighting was just too dim, room size was just too crammed for 2adults and a 7yr old and all our luggage. The aircon was awesome and we drifted off to sleep. Awoke to 3 of our luggages on the floor with ants busying through clothes and all. Took a good 40mins to try and rid of ants before we went for breakfast. Ordered breakfast as we had arrived maybe 10mins after breakfast was over, only to wait for nearly an hour. Pool was very dirty and doesn't help when I saw the janitor sweeping rubbish into the pool earlier. Getting an internet login code took 40mins which added to another reason as to why we checked out and went elsewhere.

My wife and I have stayed here twice; once the week they opened and again in Aug. It's location really suits us well as we have relations nearby and it's in a neat shopping hub. It's central location makes other places easy to get to with a marketplace right across the road, regular bus services to and from Apia or the airport, or even for site seeing on their local have-to-be-seen-to-believe buses which can take you all around the Island. Taxi fares to and from Apia or the Airport are very resonable priced too.
The on-site restaurant is very good both with ambience and with very good food. The restaurant staff are well trained so the service is great.
The motel staff are very friendly and helpful too. The showers are worth mentioning - they're great, good size, plenty of hot water and good pressure. Beds are comfortable and you even make a cup of tea in your room if you want. They have a pool which kids seem to enjoy. I know it gave us great respite when it was hot and you order poolside drinks form the bar if you want.
We've had a great experience Moanalisa and as we'll be in Samoa again later this year, and if we can get a booking, we will look forward to staying there again.

We stayed here 3 nights during our trip. The hotel is nice, clean, good A/C, but very loud. They had a band on a Friday night and the guests in another room nearby were drunk and very loud. You could hear them laughing and talking until the early morning. Then one of them got sick and you could hear her puking. There were no washcloths (facecloths). Breakfast was minimum - did not include juice.

Arrived first day no towels available, no coffee and tea facilities as advertised, went to have a shower and the shower head came off, no aircon for the room remote it is controlled by staff. This place is so run down. Requested for another room as the shower head is not working still the same. No towels, no coffee and tea facilities definitlely not what they advertised. It was much better and cheaper for us to stay at Moatoga Hotel than it was to pay more at Moanalisa Hotel and the service and rooms were really bad. Highly do not recommend Moanalisa Hotel.

Booked and paid online in July 2022 for December 2022. Arrived at 2.30pm to check in. Staff were just leaving to go home. No knowledge of our booking. Showed our online itinerary, so finally got our rooms. Rooms okay. No towels or coffe/tea, cups, plates or utensils. Place is totally run down. Rubbish tip along the back fence, near where were placed. Had kids so main thing was the awesome swimming pool in the picture. Algae everywhere, couldn't see the bottom as water was green with scum. Kids very disappointed. No breakfast as advertised. No fresh towels no replenishment of toilet paper, internet was non-existent.
What is advertised is one big LIE. If you value your happiness and sanity, don't go there.

Sadly this was our worst experience of the three hotels we stayed at. We spent three nights. While the room and view was lovely, the service left little to be desired. There was only one cup no milk provided, and the coffee and whitener sachets were all dried out.

The room was never serviced during our stay. The staff came while I was in the shower my husband asked if they could come back. They never did. We came back to the hotel around 5.30pm. We noticed there was no fresh towels and the rubbish had not been collected.

We called the front desk and the gentleman bought up the towels and explained the cleaners were running late. Come the evening there is loud banging slamming of doors and loud laughing.

Next morning we are heading out we are stopped by the lady at the desk to ask if we would like to extend our stay? We told her we had already paid for three nights. She did not respond and walked away.

Final day still no clean towels, rubbish left in room. We got back to room after midnight. While I am packing, receptionist calls and asks what time we are going to check out. She informs me she needs to log this time in.

In there hotel manual they state they clean their rooms daily and check time is 10.00am. It also stated the room service was open at particular times. Each time we called no answer.

We paid cash up front but were made to feel like we had done something wrong. When we checked out the lady didn't bother to ask us if we enjoyed our stay. She only asked if we had ordered drinks then took the key and walked away. Not a good experience.

The service was terrible. The bathroom had a foul smell you couldnt not flush the toilet properly. There were cobwebs behind the doors and on the ceiling. The stuffed up our dinner not once but twice. They also stuffed up my booking by over charging. They made the mistake and did not give us a discount. The breakfast and dinner orders about an hour, both meal were terrible. And to top it off whilst were havinh dinner by the pool one staff member turned off the pool lights.I was not happy at all. I will not be recommending this place to any of my family.

We were placed here after our flight was cancelled by our carrier. It was 3am so we wanted to get a few hours sleep before returning to the airport. O M G what a dump our up stairs room was hot and smelly the sheets were stained, there was hair's in the beds and we hate to think what was smeared on the bed side table? The bath room was filthy with a broken toilet ,one cup no milk for a cup of coffee the small fridge wasn't even plugged in. If we don't end up with scabies it will be a miracle.Breakfast now that another story thank god for the food voucher at the air port shame on virgin for putting us there you will also hear from us . Oh and if your a frog and fancy swimming in a algie invested pool you will be quiet at home.

My wife and I chanced upon the Moanalisa Hotel (it's in the completely wrong category as a Bed & Breakfast or Inn) having driven in and straight out of the dreary Airport Lodge. The Moanalisa is clean, modern, bright and with a proper hotel foyer and reception. The one thing is doesn't really have, although it tries, is street appeal. The road frontage ain't too great! That's irrelevant I suppose.

After a really, really friendly welcome by a really lovely lady, formerly a Samoan TV star, we were shown a wonderful room with ensuite facilities, TV, fridge, jug, tea, coffee, sugar, creamer, excellent air-conditioning unit, variable speed overhead fan and the comfiest beds of our whole holiday. No view though but by then it was dark.

The rear of our room opened into superbly illuminated and planted gardens in the centre of which was a really lovely and irresistible illuminated swimming pool - and a good sized one too. Had to give that a good long go. It was excellent. So was the hot shower afterwards. The nearby bar and restaurant area which are also adjacent to the garden and pool were also excellent. The service was excellent. I am using that word repeatedly but I am not exaggerating.

The young lady who owns the establishment on behalf of her MP father was truly wonderful, helpful, informative, humorous and friendly. She made the time to come and have a long friendly chat with us and make us feel most welcome, despite the fact that the Samoan Prime Minister was due to arrive for dinner within the ensuing half hour, having booked less than an hour earlier.

The restaurant team took it all in their stride and coped magnificently. One wonders if the Samoan PM will add a comment on this forum. Suffice to say that, if the Moanalisa restaurant is good enough for a PM, it's good enough for humble travellers like us.

Breakfast was very, very good (I can't say excellent all the time) and our overnight stay at Moanalisa was a wonderful way to conclude our holiday in Samoa.

The street location wasn't great and it wasn't a few steps across white sand to an azure lagoon - but it was a tremendous place otherwise. We would most certainly stop there again in preference to anywhere else in or near Apia. It is not a major distance from the airport or the Savaii ferry and it's exceptionally good value. Our overnight cost 180Tala and that was substantially better than the 280Tala being asked for at Airport Lodge. The 100Tala difference would a taxi to anywhere. Breakfast being included is always a welcome touch. It's dreadful being charged extra for tea and toast.

Having had a good look round Upolu and Savaii, I would holiday again on Savaii but spend the first and last nights, if necessary to coincide with ferry and flight timings, at Moanalisa Hotel. Yes, it's a proper hotel, not a B&B !!!
