Nestled in a prime location, Sawasdee Village garners praise for its proximity to local markets, shops, and the beach, despite some concerns about the surrounding area. The hotel's amenities, including beautifully lit pools and swim-up bars, contribute to a magical atmosphere that many guests liken to an Asian fairytale. While opinions on value vary, service is consistently lauded for its attentiveness.
The spacious rooms with swim-up access and ornate details are a hit, though noise and mosquitoes are occasional drawbacks. The hotel's cleanliness is widely commended.

I randomly booked this property directly through their website. And I wasn't wrong! A resort in an excellent location, you can reach the beaches of Kata beach, Kata noi and Karoon on foot (the furthest, you can take a Grab). We chose the Garden Deluxe (with a small table and 2 chairs outside the room) without breakfast (7/11 is right near them). In your room you will find towels for the pool/beach (ask for the beach bag at reception) which will be changed every day if requested, bathrobes for the shower, the much appreciated slippers, 2 bottles of water daily and all the bathroom accessories (toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, etc.). Fantastic room 😍 in the evening the entire path is lit up with fairy lights. The structure is an oasis of relaxation, silence and peace. There is also a lounge where you can have free tea or water with small snacks. The pools are wonderful. We also tried the spa with massages, really nice! I recommend it especially to those who want to relax after the beach (we thoroughly enjoyed the facility after lunch) and to families with children, very suitable. We will definitely return. I loved the swings with the colorful cushions in this structure, I really relaxed!

Beautiful area - a jungle oasis in the middle of the city, a mixture of Thai and Arabic style. There are mini fountains, swimming pools, spirit houses, statues, and large sofa swings with pillows all around. In general, great attention to detail that creates the mood. We had a room with access to the pool: this pool can only be used by guests of the specified rooms, which makes it private and it is the longest in the hotel. In the evening, fantastic lighting turns on throughout the entire territory, including the pools and paths, the hotel turns into some kind of Asian fairy tale. They also light mixtures with lemongrass - salvation from mosquitoes There is a shuttle to the beach every hour. Walking distance is 15 minutes, to Karon - 20 minutes, to Kata Noi - 30 minutes. There are many massage parlors, money exchangers and mini markets with food and fruits nearby. Nice staff, welcome drinks upon check-in, just a giant double bed with high-quality bed linen, a lot of accessories in the bath, water in the glass, tea and coffee, some cookies in the room, lighting on the ceiling in the form of a starry sky, a real tropical shower, access to to the pool and from the room and from the shower - in general, everything 👍 the hotel is worth its money Calm, adequate guests, due to the price tag you won’t find “Tagiiil-a” here, the maximum is instadives that are photographed on every corner) the hotel really is like one big cozy photo zone Due to the clever division of space and the abundance of greenery, you practically did not meet other guests, although the load was full. We'll be happy to come back again! They take collateral: money or a passport.
Minuses. Mosquitoes. Due to the fact that there is a lot of water throughout the territory: swimming pools, fountains, water installations, there are also a lot of mosquitoes. However there is mosquito repellent in the room. The cleaning is Thai, that is, they may not sweep up the sand in the corner, or not refill a bottle of water. The air conditioner does not cool immediately, it takes about an hour for it to accelerate and start working as it should. There is not enough foot fountain at the entrance to the hotel, all the sand from the beach drags into the room

Fabulous hotel, with welcoming and positive staff. You should definitely stay here for at least a couple of days. The bathroom has everything you need for living (hairdryer, soap, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, toothbrushes and bamboo comb, razor kit). The room has various mosquito remedies, a coffee machine with Starbucks capsules, a kettle, various types of teas, and a compliment in the form of cookies. Breakfasts are good, also during the day you can have tea/coffee with cookies in the room near the reception. There is a shuttle service to Kata Beach every hour, but you can walk (15-20 minutes). There are many cafés, massage parlours, inexpensive laundries and shops nearby. Some of the hotel's rooms are currently under renovation, but guests are being accommodated away from those rooms. Repairs don't interfere with recreation, but one day when I put the baby to bed for the afternoon, there was a very loud banging and drilling on the roof. The husband approached the hotel staff and they promised to postpone the construction for a couple of hours.

We stayed here for 9 nights recently and I would recommend it highly. It’s an oasis in the middle of a busy area, which is good because everything you could need, eg the beach, Kata night market is within walking distance. We stayed in a garden view room and it done the job, air con was good, it was tidy and cleaned regularly. The pool is directly outside of the room and it’s very quiet, often we had it to ourselves. The pools are pretty, in fact the entire resort is pretty, lots to look at and very instagrammable. Mosquitos are bad, I was using deet and was still bitten relentlessly, but the hotel do offer some sample size products and it smells strongly of citronella everywhere around the resort. Breakfast is good, usual options of western food and some Asian options. The staff are very attentive at breakfast. We booked the Thai cooking class through Sawasdee, it was 2000 baht each, about £45 and it was so fun. We had a trip to the market with a member of staff, where you can buy lots of spices, soup and curry mixes, fruit etc.. we then made 3 dishes of our choosing from a menu. Very fun, took roughly two hours and got a certificate and a nice recipe booklet to take home. The highlight of the hotel are the front of house staff, boy and K2 (members of staff) deserve a raise. They’re so friendly and attentive. I only have one minor gripe, we arrived on check in day around 9am and weren’t able to check in, which is fine I understand the check in time is 3pm, we were told we could use the pools but we would have to pay for breakfast if we wanted it; I think it was around 375 baht. We decided not to, but seeing as our check out time was 5am on the day we left I felt perhaps they could’ve allowed us breakfast. Overall, a good stay and I would come back.
Also, there’s two restaurants nearby I would highly recommend, one is the beach end of the road opposite the bar (the bar also does very good 100baht cocktails and shows premier league), I think it’s called Aroy.. Thai food is very good there. The other is the opposite direction up the hill before the main road called HUG street food. Best Thai food I have ever eaten, paid £7 for two dishes and two drinks and went back everyday for 3 days.

Thank you for staying with us and for your review - I will surely pass on the compliments to the team, especially Boy and K2! We're glad to hear you enjoyed your stay and also our Thai Cooking Class. Mosquitoes is something we have been trying to combat since the opening of the hotel. The hotel is fumigated at least 3 times a month, our pools are salted and we put chemicals in the other bodies of water that kills larvae, but due to the environment of Thailand, it is impossible to completely get rid of mosquitoes despite all the efforts. We thank you for your feedback and hope for the opportunity to welcome you back to Sawasdee Village again!

The hotel is located on a busy street in Kata. You don't suspect what lies behind the entrance. We were welcomed very hospitably by the staff. Check-in went very quickly and we were able to acclimatize in the air conditioning with a refreshing towel and a glass of juice. Our room was not far from the lobby. Everything looked spic and span. In the room itself a very large double bed with a canopy of gold-colored lace above it, towels and in the bathroom you could also find all kinds of items such as shower liquid, shampoo and conditioner. Toothbrushes and razor blades were also available. The hotel grounds are beautifully illuminated, especially in the evening. There are statues and ornaments everywhere. The pool is very clean, but not much space to lie down. Here too, claiming a bed by means of a towel was not lacking. The breakfast was very extensive. Both Asian and Western breakfast. Again, the staff was very friendly and hospitable. We enjoyed our 4 day stay very much. If we go back to Phuket, we will definitely stay there.

Almost perfect non- western resort. The property is stunning, enchanting and quintessential Thai royalty. We stayed in a cabana pool suite for the first night. Room was locked from the inside so we could not access. Staff was able to gain access. The room was decent but there are a lot of mosquitoes that you have to be careful to not keep doors open. Floors were dirty, I brought sanitizing wipes and cleaned floors to find plenty of hairs. I noticed front desk and they cleaned the floors for me. Luckily we moved to the Baray villa from the second day on. If your budget allows, I highly recommend the Baray Villa. Everything was perfect. Decor was gorgeous, room was very spacious and you have a private dip pool and access to a lazy Susan of sorts. There are lots of mosquitoes, I was bitten in the face and arms at night. The hotel provided the gold bowl balm, which helps with the itch and pain.
Only cons was the fridge was smaller than the one in the cabana pool access suite. I would love to have a larger fridge. The stairs to the master bed upstairs has non-slip strips made of sandpaper that can be uncomfortable to step on with bare feet. Also the toilet pressure is very weak, and placing toilet paper will clog the toilets. However, given how Beautiful and spacious the rooms are I would definitely come back. The staff are very nice, they aim to please and always promptly fix any of our concerns.
I wished the breakfast included a Thai noodle soup. We paid for the breakfast add on but didn't eat there much.
We found the shuttle to the beach very convenient along with the beach bag and towels.

I’ll make a note right away: we lived in this hotel for two weeks and managed to evaluate all aspects of our stay at Sawasdee Village. First of all, I want to say a huge thank you to the hotel staff: they are always ready to help, very friendly and responsive. I would also like to highlight the hotel area - very beautiful and unusual. That's where the positives end... Firstly, the hotel is located very far from the sea, be prepared to either walk 20 minutes one way or wait for a shuttle once an hour. Secondly, everything is outdated and it is clear that the hotel has long needed cosmetic repairs. Beautiful interior decoration does not help with general dilapidation. Thirdly, the breakfasts are monotonous, the choice is poor and clearly does not qualify for 4*, and for the money that it costs to live here. Fourthly, the rooms are very poorly cleaned. The floors are not washed, only swept, or washed very rarely. The bed linen was changed once in 2 weeks, even when they threw all the linen on the floor with a clear hint of replacement, it was simply remade, it’s just a SHOCK. And they don’t provide toiletries, only once upon arrival. And the main thing! NEVER, I repeat, NEVER, take the Garden Deluxe room. This is complete darkness. The room is the size of a storage room, everything is old, dirty, the cabinets are falling apart, the sockets don’t work, the air conditioner is attached to some kind of board and nailed to the wall (you can see everything in the photo - a complete collective farm). Let me remind you that the room costs about $200 per night, but it is no more than 2* (with a stretch). In general, I advise you to consider this hotel as an option for 1-2 nights, just to see the area, nothing more.

We’ve just had 22 nights stay here, we’ve stayed here several times, just love this little oasis of peace.
We had a cabana room, the rooms are beautifully decorated as is the whole resort, there is so much attention to detail.
The staff here are just awesome, from K2 who helped with our luggage, the team in the office, the cleaning staff, the girls at the pool bar to the restaurant staff, the lovely Jan with a beautiful smile as she cooked our eggs, to Jaran who waited on us along with many others, the staff here are so well trained and guest focussed.
We loved that smoking is no longer allowed at the rooms but only in one small area, it meant that we didn’t have to breath in smoke while sitting on our veranda or enjoying a cocktail at the pool bar.
We’ll definitely be back in the future.

My wife and I stayed her for 21 nights, with 1 night left for our stay. We had the Baray Villa. Firstly the staff. Above excellent , warm, welcoming, friendly and helpful. From the lovely lady who cleaned our room daily , to the breakfast staff and thank you to the lady who cooked us perfect eggs daily. A special thank you and mention to 2 bellboys concierge. “Boy” and “K2”, thank you both for all your help, and friendship especially our daily laughter. You both are remarkable in your duties, but more so thank you for your warmth and friendship. Room was immaculate . It was a 2 level villa with opulence seldom seen in Phuket. Grounds especially all lit up at nights was a fairy land . Exceptionally well maintained and clean . So beautiful just to walk around with there swing chairs everywhere. Pool was clean and an oasis. The baray villas have their own pool but the resort boasts 3 beautiful pools. Thank you to the reception staff who were always willing to help make your stay perfect. We have booked to return in June 2025 and would not even think of staying anywhere else. Location is perfect close walking distance to shopping , restaurants, markets and masssge centres. The masssge place right next door is excellent and offers laundry services as well for ridiculously cheap rates , and great massages. Really nothing negative to say about the Sawasdee. If I had to pick a mild negative is a couple of vegetarian options for breakfast would be good as it’s mostly chicken or meat and being non meat eaters , maybe cater more for those who don’t eat meat. Fish or vegetarian would be welcomed but still there are egg , cheese and salad options. Thank you to all at Sawasdee and see next June.

If you scour YouTube searching for "top hotels in Phuket" or "best resorts" - you'll be shown a list of homogenised, generic, corporate, 'could be anywhere' type places which look like every other hotel in just about any developed country I've ever visited.
Sawasdee (Welcome) Village Resort however, will simply blow you mind at just how utterly charming, culturally appropriate and authentic a place can be. From its illuminated grounds to flowing waters surrounding the entire resort (which are also illuminated at dusk), to the endless traditional décor which is everywhere you look - and the more you look the more you see. The attention for detail in this stunningly unique retreat is quite simply off the chart.
There are 3 main pools - one of which is near the main entrance which has its own swim-up bar and has a small child's pool behind the small footbridge. Another pool sits the the rear of the resort and links all of the rooms which have their own exclusive access. This pool seemingly goes on forever, again has a swim-up bar, under a series of decorative arches and hanging bells, under a bridge and beyond. A third pool is hidden and used exclusively by the villas.
We booked a terrace away from the pools and a stone's throw from the restaurant which was perfect as everything was very close by. The beds are emperor size and are very firm but surprisingly comfortable. Most nights we slept soundly. Unfortunately the occupants in the room next door (144) had a massive argument in the early hours one morning. We were awoken by one of them banging the door, which then proceeded into full-blown screaming and shouting at one another, along with what sounded like smashing the room up. I assume their other neighbours alerted the staff (it was around 0530 in the morning at this point) - 3 of whom attended and calmed the situation down.
My final point is about the staff. I have never been to a resort where the staff are as considerate, engaging, friendly and helpful as they are here. From the minute we arrived to the moment we left, every single one of the staff were an absolute delight to talk to. I will miss them all. I would like to single out K2 and "Boy" who really made us smile. As a testament to their character, we said we'd have to have a photograph with them before we left and said we'd be around 5-6pm that evening before. We left our room at just gone six and they were both there waiting for us.
If we ever visit Phuket again, this is definitely where we will stay - and thoroughly recommend anyone who is visiting this area to do the same.
Top marks.

No kids clubs or kids entertainment, depends which type of room you are looking at as to how many of each type there are, the cabana would probably take 2 adults and one child, the Baray probably 2 adults and 2 kids, the hotel is boutique style, so not a huge amount of rooms
There are more places to choose from in the Kata Beach area.
