I arrived without a booking hoping to stay in the dorm. I was told there was no water in the dorm and was offered a room at a reduced rate. I should have just left or at least looked at the room more closely. There were what appeared to be water stains, maybe damp, on the walls and furniture. In the shower there were the remains of a squashed cockroach. On pulling back the covers of the bed at night I found stained sheets. The bath mat was soaking wet, although the room was otherwise dusty with some cobwebs. I had to ask for toilet paper. Neither the bar or restaurant were operating. In the case of the restaurant this was just as well. I was able to use the kitchen but it was absolutely disgusting. It smelled like poo. The sinks were blocked with dirty, scummy water with a floating cockroach and food scraps. The stove was filthy and the kitchen was generally dirty. There were 2 staff, although they appeared to do little. I only spoke to one who did not speak English ( I can speak Bislama so this wasn't a problem for me). This guy told me the owner was in China which was the cause of all the problems. Although this of course is no excuse for the filthy kitchen and dirty room. The place itself is right on the waterfront, which is indeed a reef. There is no beach or place to swim. The outlook is nice although windy when I was there. There were some hammocks and some rusty dirty chairs on the water. The property has apparently changed hands relatively recently, and appears to have been allowed to rapidly run down. It would seem to be able to be restored to a reasonable operation if someone wanted to put some effort into it, but given its generally dirty state, I would avoid it like the plague, which in the case of the kitchen, may be literal.

My holiday spend at Reef Resort with my son was a very quiet and relaxing holiday - Bedding configuration to your liking, with spacious room/ Bathroom/ small refrigerator for your non alcoholic drinks LOL :) and ceiling fan as it is by the seaside no air conditioning is needed..... With a book in hand and a swing/ amuck by the seaside is very relaxing with the sound of breaking waves and water under your feet. No sound of traffic to be heard anywhere. A common kitchen where you can cook ur own food or place your order and a house-in chef can do your cooking for you. And WOW a pool table and bar to meet ur overall entertainment. Take a trip down to Reef Resort and find out for yourself or call Mobile: 7305825 for more information talk to Lyn Ati - Caretaker/Chef

We actually planned to stay at this "Resort" for three nights but left after one. The bungalow was dirty, there were cockroaches and ants, the bed linen was dirty and didn't smell good. Trash bins had not been emptied and the shower was full of hair and sand. Fortunately they let us check out after only one night and we just had to pay this night. We were told by the staff, that there has been a recent change of owner (from a local lady to a Chinese family) and communication was difficult since the new owners didn't speak english at all. The owner was sitting at the dining hall with us in the morning but didn't come to say hello. However the local staff was very friendly and the food was delicious! It's hard to tell what's happing to the Resort since the staff wasn't informed about the future plans of the new owner.

i was staying in reef resort for 4 nights. the place was super clean and quiet, Annie is the nicest person and a great cook! and the prices were good too. the location is fantastic- really close to all the places you would like to see in the island but there are no buses most of the day... anyway, i think the best way to travel in the island is by motorcycle or rental car- otherwise you gonna be ripped off by the taxi drivers. go to reef resort, you wont regret it :)

Annie has so much local knowledge and looked after us like we were family. Highly recommend staying at this place. The beach and the views are exceptional. We ate local food and heard about local customs. Such fun!
