Although a bit run down, I liked the hotel and its dated charm. Rooms were clean ... just old and in need of a spruce up. Staff were friendly and helpful. Owner was aloof and gave the impression we were an inconvenience to her (very few guests so maybe we were?). Things I didn’t like: 1) outdated internet system that required frequent reentry of the code with one code per device and codes only good for two days. 2) having to pay for breakfast when we were told it was included (I guess the included portion was the dry old white toast referenced by others). If I come back I’ll stay elsewhere.
This hotel reminds me of a 1970's South African game park hotel. I don't know why it just feels like this. It's in the centre of Luganville. Even though it's not the prettiest of towns it is handy to restaurants, taxis, supermarkets etc. The hotel feels tired. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the main road. The room is large and clean, but needs a spruce up. It smelled a little stale. No TV in the room. The manager was very helpful. She had us booked into the Millennium Cave tour at the very last minute and organised us to have sandwiches to take. All staff seemed friendly. It is opposite a fairly depressed "beach" and park area which has the potential to be quite nice if it wasn't for the plastic and rubbish strewn along the shore.
adequate hotel located right in the centre of Santo . our air conditioned room was a comfortable retreat from the hot days outside . easy walk to supermarket & cafes . hotel dining room had enjoyable menu & bar
By Santo standards this place is just OK, by international standards it is poor. Saturday afternoon and no staff to be found, couldn't buy a beer, couldn't find anyone to get the password for the WiFi, could have fired a shotgun in the lobby and no one would have noticed. Breakfast was ice cold toast and days old coffee. You'll read about the expat's having a beer in the evening but it's basically four old mates out the front. The restaurant of an evening has 2 people in it. The gardens are nice, the rooms adequate, although in need of maintenance and the bathrooms need a good scrub, but the big let down is the service. All of the negatives could have been salvaged if the service levels were increased. Some warm toast, fresh coffee and a cold beer aren't much to ask for in the big scheme of things. Be prepared, take your own coffee and beer and snacks and you could actually enjoy yourself around the pool.…
The staff are friendly and very helpful but are so afraid of the owner/manager that they don’t speak unless spoken to. The bathrooms could do with a bottle of exit mould. I found the rooms are ‘lacking’ for the prices charged and the beds could do with a urgent upgrade. The one meal we had was so disappointing and took so long that we ate out for every meal thereafter. We were also disappointed that we were charged taxes after being informed by bookings. com that it was inclusive of the quoted and approved price, these things leave a sour taste in ones mouth. Lungenville has far better places to stay, we will NOT be back. W&Jfiji
