Oyster Island Resort is fantastic! Bev, Richard and the whole team made my stay so special! From the moment I arrived I felt relaxed, at home and taken care of. My room was gorgeous, clean and perfectly suited the location. The team organised each day for me and were always available for a chat and a laugh. The resort is in a perfect location and I was able to kayak to the blue hole, snorkel, ride on the boat, reef walk and lay on the sandy beach! The food was fresh, delicious and varied each night. And the resort is in a great part of Santo, near kava bars, waterfalls, and other great sites. I would recommend this to everyone!
Oyster Island is a wonderful and special place, in a world of artificial and contrived resorts Oyster is a real breath of fresh air. From the boat ride over to the lovely waterfront rooms, I feel a restored sense of peace and tranquility. The new management team and the recent reinvestments have lifted this unique and rare place. If you are an active and culturally sensitive traveler this is a great place to visit.
The serenity and relaxation that Oyster Island offers, along with the hospitality of the new Managers and friendly staff has reassured us that everything is on the up and guests can be assured of a beautiful island experience. We stayed in a unit which sits on the waters edge. There's a hammock on the deck, and it was the perfect place to sit and enjoy the welcome drink we were presented with on arrival. Small sprays of ccloured flowers throughout the room gave it a very special touch. The new managers have put a refurbishment plan in place and they are working their way through the units to revitalise them. We had our breakfast lunch and dinner at the resort. While the menu was limited, the food was delicious, utilising the freshest local produce. All in all a…
Part of our day tour in Santo included lunch at Oyster Island. Lunch was good but a bit pricey. The find of the day however occurred when talking to the tours manager. As we had a second day in Santo we were on the lookout for something to do and the Mt Hope waterfall tour sounds pretty good. I have to say it is one of the most amazing experiences of my life! Floating down a crystal clear stream surrounded by jungle on all sides and then shooting through the scattered rapids was incredible. Water was a little cold but the warmth of the water coming off the waterfall at the end was great. We had 7 kids with us and the guides for our trip did a wonderful job of looking after them. The drive to an from the waterfall allowed us to see a slice of life in Santo as well as the…
We booked this resort in February and fortunately did not pay money at that time. Since then the "resort" was sold to new owners, who, I was told, live in China. Managers from Australia could not work with new owners and left. Since then this place is no longer a resort. It is a "dead" "resort". we came here mid May 2016: accommodations are in disarray, no staff, no guests - no one. It looks like a cyclone went right through it and took everything away. New owners have to spend money and efforts to bring it back to life. The location is perfect. You can come during day time and walk around if you do not believe me about the drastic condition in there . It should be really closed, reworked on and opened again. Poor locals, they lost jobs because of this..
