We stayed for a few days, and really enjoyed our time on Oyster Island. The staff are super-friendly, as is the owner who is around daily. The rooms are pleasant, and the shower has hot water on demand, which is wonderful. The island itself is simple and has a few beaches which you can snorkel from. The highlights are getting a kayak and paddling to the blue hole, and the food. People come from other resorts for the food, which is fantastic. We really enjoyed our time on Oyster Island, and if you're looking to see a blue hole and spend some time relaxing, then this is your place.
We had a fabulous time on Oyster Island for the weekend. The staff were great, the room just right, the food delicious - every meal - and the Island itself just amazing! We snorkeled - saw 2 turtles - and swam, kayaked and walked and had a great time. In fact we had the most relaxing time we have had for a while! Thanks too to the staff band who entertained us at the excellent Sunday lunch smorgasbord.
Place is very good for snorkelling and maybe diving, kayaking to nearby islands or to nearby rivers and blue holes. All that you can do on your own. And yet just a half an hour drive to Luganville and airport, so you don't need to spend lot of time in/out. The island, being quite small, also has some to explore. The resort itself is very well maintained, almost all bungalows are two steps from the shore, and restaurant is excellent. Trails to beaches are well marked and clean. We noted only two minuses. First, they ddin't tell that all snorkeling spots are not at their best times (after 2015 cyclone Pam?). And second, they tried to give us kayaks and snorkeling gear in the worst condinion they had, once even almost broken.
A bit of a late review but it sounds like Oyster Island is heading back to where it was. We travelled in February '16 when Brad and Sarah were still resort managers and they blew us away. We visited one day just to have a look and they convinced us to come back the next day so they could take us out on a snorkelling tour. It was some of the best snorkelling I have ever done, it was just fantastic! We went back again the next day and hired a canoe very cheaply to go to the nearby blue hole, which was a perfect way to spend an afternoon. They also shouted us a bottle of sparkling during our dinner as it was our honeymoon. We had lots of issues with flights during our trip and found out while we were there that our flights had been cancelled. Brad and Sarah helped us to arrange…
We stayed at Oyster Island Resort for 12 nights. From our first sight of the resort we knew that it was perfect for us - the staff were amazing! The room was romantic and we loved the outdoor shower and relaxing on our balcony. The snorkelling was fabulous from Midway beach especially at high tide and the food was exceptional. The two tours we did were fantastic - Turtle island and Mount Hope beautiful scenery and we were taken to both by John - he did a great job! We would highly recommend this resort and we also plan to return in the future. All the staff are amazing and are to be congratulated on their exceptional service and dedication.
