#3 of 9 Speciality lodging in Luganville
Oyster Island will be closed until further notice. Set on a private 25 hectare island just 2 minutes crossing from the mainland. Oyster Island Resort resides within a Marine Reserve, abundant in marine and wild life. Sandy beaches, tropical rainforest, coral reefs and war plane wrecks make for fantastic snorkelling. Bungalows line the waters edge, each with private decks or patio's, enjoying stunning views out over the calm lagoon waters. Family Vila allow room for parents and children to enjoy the large grounds and gardens and are set off the water for safety. Skilled Chefs serve the very best of local and western cuisine from our waterfront restaurant. Only 20 minutes from the airport and township.

We had a 5 night stay recently and while we loved the location, accommodation (especially the open air bathroom), great and varied meals and the cocktails we found management far from helpful. The staff were brilliant and doing the best they could especially Helen, Christina, Richard and the Johns but got little support from the Managers even when it was busy. On arrival no one was there to check us in, we found out later understaffed and no management. Our rooms couldn't be done on New Years Day due to lack of staff, only 4 bungalows and yet the management was on site but couldn't help. We of course survived but this seemed to be the norm. We arranged with one of the staff for a trip to the waterfall, cut our trip to Port Olry short to be back in time only to be told by

I have to say this is our 3 trip to Oyster Island over the last few years and it has lost its luster. Accommodation is up to the standard we are use to at Oyster but a few things let it down. For example the areas around the bungalows especially when the tide is out need to be cleaned daily. Each day we would wake up to rubbish on the waters edge. Whilst the local staff are excellent and try their best even the food is top quality the current management are speading their own resource between two properties and not always on site making it difficult as times. It took over 1.5 hours to check out whilst the staff hand wrote out the bill for both our families. Whilst i understand we are on an island in the pacific paradise 1.5 hours is too long. Our last trip was more

We enjoyed our stay at Oyster Island and found the owner/managers Nabil/Bev to be extremely helpful. They arranged for us to have champagne and a 2 fabulous cakes on the evening of our wedding anniversary and my husbands birthday which was a lovely surprise. The staff were all attentive and eager to please. If anything they were over staffed given the number of guest there. Special mention to Helen who was extremely helpful and always smiling! The rooms were clean, comfortable and more than adequate the only gripe was that we the hot water in the shower went from burning hot to cold without even touching the regulator! The resort arranged a local driver for us for the day to visit one of the blue holes, Champagne beach and Port Olry. It was a great day (8am - 4pm) and only

We did not stay at Oyster island but rather had an enjoyable experience having lunch and kayaking out to Matevulu blue hole from here. For lunch we ordered a variety of dishes - I personally got the lobster for 2000 VUV and shared a jug of sangria with friends and was truly impressed! The lobster was perfectly cooked, and I have never had such a large jug of sangria for that price before! Delicious! For 1000 VUV more each, we hired kayaks from the resort and travelled to the Matevulu blue hole (meant to be 45 minute kayak but we definitely took longer!) The resort is very lovely, with complimentary houseboat shuttling back to Santo.

We stayed at Oyster Private Island for 3 nights. The staff are helpful and very easy to get along with. They have Kayaks and snorkling equipment available free of charge for anyone staying at the resort. You can kayak to the Blue Holes which is a must do. Snorkel around the island where they have 3 plane wrecks just meters out from the shoreline. The restaurants have a good selection of meals. I enjoy a beer or two and found the prices were cheap! about $5 for a bottle of VB. The rooms are clean and modern. The bathroom is beautiful with an open roof over the shower. My only issue with the bathroom was the doors are frosted glass so you can be seen when using the loo. Decks are perfect for an early morning coffee or afternoon beverage. I fed the fish from my deck. No
