Looking for an exotic place nearest to Everest peak, I was browsing the net. After some search I found this hotel. Either accessible through a 3 day trek from nearest city, Lukla, or a helicopter ride from Lukla. Charmed by its inaccessibility, and the reviews I sent a mail inquiring the possibilities of visiting with other nitty- gritty of the probable trip. In few hours, Mr. Shirish responded with detailed travel plan and other relevant information. i wanted a package Kathmandu to Kathmandu, covering air fare, Helicopter, hotel at Lukla etc. Shirish gave me the possible options. Though a bit pricey by any standard, we have decided to avail. I made a booking with no advance, but with a promise of paying in full amount on arrival at Kathmandu, Shirish agreed without and security. I was a bit surprised, as all other hotels I booked before and after EVH, had to make advance payment to secure the booking.
I was contacted on arrival at Kathmandu and made the payment. Next day early in the morning the expedition started. All went on smooth and as planned. We got best possible accommodation at Lukla, Timely Helicopter ride to EVH with a detour to Kalapatthar (base camp). The helicopter landing and the check in is excellent. Checked in at room no.4, with a direct full time view of Mount Everest from the beds.Nice neat and clean w/c with bathtub and running hot water, everything is just perfect, considering the inaccessibility of the place.
We have learnt that from salt to heavy furniture, everything is to be transported either by head carry or helicopter from nearest town. naturally every service is costly comparing to plain land city hotels. This is quite logical.
The rooms are perfect, the ambience is just fine, service is simply excellent, food is very good, and the view, needless to mention.
Finally I wander, how the owner did this impossible task of building the hotel 50 years back, when it was least accessible by today's s benchmark, with all standard amenities and comfort.
Last but not the least, without which my review will be incomplete. Mr. Shirish, (forgot to ask his surname), who from day 1 was in constant touch with us giving suggestions, guiding us to make our stay comfortable, even with matters beyond his jurisdiction. he also helped and advised us on our COVID test, which was a requirement for travel back home. Our fully satisfactory tour was successful largely due to Shirish. I can confidently certify that, he is an asset for any organization, the organization can take pride for a person like Shirish. We also thank the company for the excellent gift ( a duffel bag with EVH logo and monogram)
A little suggestion for the Hotel management. In room toilets, a toilet/commode shower can be fixed to give comfort to subcontinental visitors, as we are used to it.
I wish all the best for the Everest View Hotel.

Thank you very much for your wonderful review and we are all so happy to hear that you enjoyed your trip! We are grateful to have earned your trust and for your appreciation of the hotel and our service. Shirish is indeed an asset to our company and he is dedicated to ensure everything goes smoothly. We will definitely keep in mind the commode shower when we are able to renovate the bathrooms. The book written by the founder of the hotel, Mr. Takashi Miyahara will be published in a few months about how Hotel Everest View was built, and I hope that you will have a chance to read it! It will be up on Amazon, entitled "A Ray of Light in the Himalayas". Thank you very much once again and we hope to see you again soon.

Arriving by helicopter was unusual, but gave a WONDERFUL view of the Himalayan mountains! Considering it is in the middle of nowhere, they did a great job to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The food was great, they accommodated a vegetarian diet. The views are unparalled with a 360 degree view of mountains. The rooms are large and well furnished, with a small inadequate heater, made up for with two large comforters and a heating pad under the mattress pad. The carpet is a little tired, but a lot can be overlooked considering where you are!! The last morning there the clouds parted and we had a wonderful view of Mt Everest, 17 miles away!

Stayed one night on the way to EBC. Very impressive hotel considering the construction materials has to be delivered by yak, mule or humans 50 years ago. The hotel are still in good conditions, well maintained.
The room was spacious and clean equipped with small portable heater. Not sufficient to keep all the room warm but considering the location, the small heater was not bad at all, plus each bed is equipped with heated mat for comfortable sleep.
The 360 view from observation platform which is restricted to guess only was out of the world - the most beautiful breathtaking view I ever seen from a hotel. Food is not cheap, the Japanese set lunch menu cost USD 34, but understandable since most of ingredients are imported and delivered at site with helicopter.
Inclusive breakfast was great, the best among the hotels we stayed on the EBC trek.
All in all, good value hotel if you want enjoy the luxury and amazing view Himalayan mountains.

Sonia at Everest View hotel arranged a private helicopter around Everest, with a landing at the Goyko Lakes at 16, 500 feet, then dropping us off at the hotel to stay for two nights. The flight was smoothly organized from Kathmandu to Lukla to the hotel then back to Lukla and Kathmandu. To say the flight was spectacular is an understatement. We saw where Basecamp had been but has since been removed we saw the route to the climbers took and the phenomenal surrounding mountains.

The greeting of the helicopter by the manager and staff was welcoming. We were greeted with warm towels and hot lemonade and then that view. You see it is remarkable in the photographs but it is more moving when you were there. The view from the hotel is a dream. Being at 13,000 feet and then seeing the surrounding mountains from 26,000 to 29,000 feet, 30 miles away, is daunting. Lingering and seeing it from the cozy warmth of your bed is such a wonderful way to be in the mountains.

As others have stated the hotel is cold. But the staff do the best they can with space heaters and heating pads and double quilts so that your stay can be comfortable. Just ask them and they will provide a solution.

The morning is kind of crazy with all the hikers coming in for breakfast but they are in their own area and you can have the peace and quiet of your room, your private outdoor area, and the observation deck.

But the day hikes from there are lovely whether you choose to take a trail or just go cross country. If you go cross country around on the grounds you can get away from the chatter of the people. If you can stay two nights the first day you can get a sense of how you deal with high altitude and then the second day you can go for a day hike. The hotel might seem expensive, but when you think that everything has to be helicoptered in and that you have saved three days of hiking to get there it seems like a small price to play. And after the morning, with only 12 rooms, you really do get you enjoy the quiet and the changing light and amazing fact did you are on top of the world. Sonam Sherpa is a remarkable Manager dealing with our needs; he and his staff really are there to help you from advice about day hikes to dealing with the altitude sickness or the cold, to dealing with a sprained ankle — they take care of everything and really make you feel like a special guest.

We stopped over at this location for breakfast, as part of a helicopter tour.

Whilst the view and ambiance was nice, the food option was disappointing. There were separate menus for trekkers and people who were flown in. If you fly in, you are only offered 1 set breakfast menu, which consisted of a meagre portion of food for a staggering price of $31 USD/4000 NPR per person. The breakfast consisted of a plate with an omelette of your choosing, 2 pieces of sliced tomato, a piece of lettuce, 2 small slices of sausage, and a plate with 2 small pancakes and tea or coffee. Quite disappointing for the price paid. I had even initially requested to see the other menu, however the server had blatantly refused.

Can't speak for the other aspects of the hotel, but if you're here for breakfast and you've flown in, don't even bother.

Was flown by Fishtail Air Pvt Ltd for Everest Helicopter Tour collected from hotel at 5am for transport to Kathmandu airport for take off.
Being a solo traveler the helicopter takes 5 but was lucky that 2 other couples wanted to fly as well .
One no longer lands at base camp since January 2024 this has been disallowed.
One now flies Kathmandu/Lukla(refuel stay in helicopter)/ fly over Kala Pathhhar(5545 metres previously landed ) /Hotel Everest (3880 metres for breakfast)/Lukla (able to walk around a couple of hours) /Kathmandu.
Front seat rotation is practiced so all 5 are accounted for
I was also told to have R10000 to pay for national park fee and breakfast which is optional one can just take in the view .Breakfast menu is in $US .
The breakfast menu is varied and plentiful and can recommend having while looking at Mt Everest.
Even though I didnt land at base camp I was closer than I expected and I thoroughly enjoyed my day .

Sonia, the manager of Hotel Everest View, organised a wonderful adventure for us in November. Everything ran incredibly smoothly from our arrival in Kathmandu to our departure 9 days later. We are both in our mid-60s but trekked for 4 days from Lukla airport and stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. It was incredible to have a view of Everest from our hotel room (we stayed in room 3 and I think rooms 1 to 5 that have the best view so ask for one of those rooms). We loved the hotel although it is cold in November at that altitude. The electric blankets made sleeping comfortable but the electric heaters in the rooms only made a small difference. The staff light a fire and provide heaters near the tables at meal times. Staying there for 2 nights enabled us to appreciate the views and facilities in peace when there were no large groups around (groups tend to arrive around 10am and are gone by 1pm and much of the hotel is off-limits to them). The inside part of the spectacular viewing area on the roof of the hotel was actually very warm in the sunshine. Sonia organised a helicopter to take us back to Lukla with a flight over Everest Base Camp (which was deserted at this time of year) and the Khumbu Ice Fall. A truly amazing holiday. Thank you to Sonia and all the team.

Thank you very much for your kind words and we are so glad that you both had an amazing time! Trekking to the hotel and helicopter back is the best way to experience what Khumbu has to offer and I am so glad that you were able to do this. Yes, the sunroom is a great place to hangout for hotel guests and just soak in the views. Thank you very much once again and I hope that the memories of Everest will lead you to pursue more adventures in 2024!

I stayed at Panorama Lodge in Namche (also excellent but not as high end) as I believe this hotel was already booked and walked here for coffee and the view of Everest on my acclimatization day.

I live in New York and think the coffee I had here was the only place in Nepal where I had similar caliber coffee. It is worth the short walk up.

If you are a coffee or tea drinker, you won’t regret it!

Wow!

Experienced the hotel only for the view and breakfast via a helicopter trip close to base camp (landed at Kalapatthar area). After the trip to Everest, part of the trip included this stop for breakfast at Hotel Everest View.

It is amazing with trails all around if you have time before the helicopter comes back. Our pilot said 1 1/2 hours but it was actually closer to 4 hours before he arrived back.

If you have to stuck some place waiting to be picked up, this is that place!

We had planned our first trek to Hotel Everest View to see Mt Everest. We opted for Discover Altitude Pvt Ltd. It was an amazing experience. Though it was Pooja Festival time Mr Santosh cancelled his home visit and was with us throughout our trip. Inspite of busy season they managed to provide us with attached bath accommodation everywhere. The porter Krishna and Baktha took care of every need of ours throughout our journey. All of them were like our family members. We were highly impressed by the arrangements made by Mr Kumar the owner of Discover Altitude.

Hello, we do not have pressurized rooms with oxygen although we do have oxygen cylinders available. We would not recommend taking a helicopter from Kathmandu to the hotel directly for an overnight stay. If you are visiting via helicopter only for breakfast, then it is generally not a problem. Thank you.

Thank you for your query, we do not have a hot tub, only the bathtub below the shower in all the rooms. Currently we do not have enough water to fill out the bathtubs but all guests can take hot showers. Thank you.
