Detailed Reviews

We stayed one night at the camping la frontera. We were warmly welcomed! There are warm water showers, eco friendly toilets, possibility to swim in the river and a nice, shady place to camp. It was quiet during the night and we would have stayed definetly longer if we had time to!

I visited this place with my partner and our son. Rooms are cozy and the place is nicely decorated. Paula, the host, is extremely kind and she get well with our son. The place is located at about 600mt from the Sendero a la Junta and it has its own access to the river.
After camping in Ensenada* for few days this was the perfect place to have some rest.
For two nights in a row I had solid 11 hours sleep. :)
*It's really hard to find quite places in summer in Chile. Locals like to party till late and they are noisy.

We visited Cochamó valley after the season not expecting much, but it was incredible 7 days. We spent two nights in this amazing camping. Pavel and his wife are so welcoming. They gave us advice what to see and we could also leave some unnecassary stuff there. Camping area offer several nice spots for a tent. Pavel brought us firewood for fire that was really nice as the nights are getting cold in autumn. They also offer breakfast and pizzas, which is really helpful if you do not take enough food. And lastly there is a shower with hot water that is incredible after spending several days in La Junta :) Highly recommended!!!!

The house is super cozy, and it took the heat of summer pretty well being alway a bit fresher than the outside, but in the cold night it was warmer. Paula is super nice and is always super willing to help you and make your stay the best it can be. The river is right behind and you can even bath in the cold waters. The lack of electricity never felt like an issue. It's a great place to stay.

My stay at La Frontera was my favorite part of my trip to Chile. The cabin is near the trail head to La Junta and also has camping sites and access to the river. Paul and Paula were friendly, knowledgeable and gracious hosts. They taught me much about the history of the area and importance of protecting the Cochamo valley. They are committed members of their local community and their sustainable lifestyle is a great example of living a simple life on the land. Note there is limited power from a solar panel and no refrigeration at the cabin - a great way to disconnect from the world for a few days!

My husband and I had such a fantastic stay at La Frontera. The location and home itself are beautiful and the hosts Paula and Pavel are so kind and welcoming. We loved learning about all of the sustainable practices they use at the home and appreciated their passion for conservation and love of the land. It is so impressive that they designed and built the home themselves, as well as the other structures on site. The guest house is very cozy and only accommodates 6 people at a maximum—which made it feel like we were their personal guests. La Junta trailhead is only 500 meters away from their doorstep. They gave us great advice about the area and La Junta itself. Dinner and breakfast were both great as well! I would recommend renting a car to best explore the surrounding area especially as they have parking available. La Frontera was one of the most memorable parts of our 2-week stay in Chile, and I completely recommend them especially if you are looking for a unique, ecological way to truly experience the nature of the Cochamó Valley and the lovely hospitality of Paula and Pavel.
