We took our 9, 11 and 21 year old, along with our two dogs. There really is something for everyone and great amenities. The kids were fascinated with the gas top toaster and we all enjoyed the lawn games and hammocks. The tents and shared lounge, kitchen and dining were perfect for us all and we had so much more space then I expected. Make sure to connect with Max to see what else is on offer around the farm -you won't be disappointed.

A huge thanks again to Libby and Ben for an awesome time at Birch Hill.

We had an amazing time exploring parts of the farm we hadn't seen before. Loved the trip up the creek looking for stones the kids had a blast.

We love being able to bring the horses and ponies along with us, thank you for making this so easy with a great paddock for them.

Max and Andy were again great driving us around the farm setting up picnics by beautiful streams!

We will be back soon.

We had an fantastic stay at Birch Hill. We have been in NZ for a few times with our young family. The kids have not stopped talking about their experience in Birch Hill. Ben and Libby are very thoughtful and gracious host. The design of the campsite exceeds our expectation. It is beautiful and practical.

We spent our day walking around the huge farm and the evening around the outdoor patio and fireplace. It's a perfect opportunity to live off the grid. The sunrise, sunset and the stars are stunningly beautiful.

We are very happy about our stay and will do it again . I highly recommend the experience!

It was truly an amazing getaway to have found Birch Hill via Liz and Sonia from Canopy Camping Escapes. My family has not stopped talking about the experience and wished we could have stayed ‘forever’! We all fell in love with the whole campsite.

The owners, Libby & Ben were not around when we checked-in, but Max and Andy made us feel warmly welcomed. It was an easy 3.5 hrs drive from Wellington via the A2 taking the Wairarapa route to Hawkes Bay with stunning scenes along the way.

For a family of 5 adults, we had plenty of space to ourselves and everywhere we looked there were beautiful touches of home from home, so relaxing and comfortable.

One would be forgiven for not doing anything at Birch Hill, as you could easily have a nap in the hammock, or slump on the beanbags, cook on the outdoor grill, eat al fresco whilst admiring the varied landscape in front of your eyes. We all went for a 45 mins stroll along the streams and up to Boar Hill Spring to be rewarded with a spectacular view of the sea and farm lands.

For two days we felt like the last surviving people on Earth, confused as we were ‘off the grid’ with no mobile phones, tv, electricity with just the sun energising the solar lanterns and the stars giving us the glimmer of lights with various sounds of wildlife emanating from all around us, and yet we could have hot showers and bath at a twist of the taps!

There were moments when we felt living primitively, making fire, improvising our own entertainment with the selection of games provided on the site but at the same time we have the modernity and luxury of the 21st century! It was indeed mind boggling and magical!

As a travel agent, we’ve travelled a lot and visited so many majestic places, but Birch Hill is a special place we will treasure the memories of and will highly recommend to our clients!

This is the second time me and my partner visited the Birch Hill glampsite (first time was October 2016) and we were very happy we decided to come back. The scenery is stunning and so very peaceful. There's plenty of little luxurious touches, such as the outdoor bath and the outdoor shower, the fireplace in the tent, etc.

Ben and Libby are amazing hosts. They are very friendly and you can always reach them if you have any questions, yet fully respect your privacy. The fresh hen eggs they gave us were also some of the tastier eggs I've had in my life.

All in all a wonderful getaway and I cannot recommend this highly place highly enough!

(Photos are from the October visit, as I hardly made photos during this stay)

We spent Waitangi weekend at this perfect spot an had great plans to explore the surrounding region - but the campsite is so lovely we barely left.
There are lovely, luxury touches every where - from the rugs, candles and books, to the extremely well equipped kitchen. We slept in one of the three, spacious tents - and the gorgeous furnishing and comfy would put some hotel rooms to shame!
The station is beautiful and there are some great walks with spectacular scenery. Plus Libby and Ben are fantastic hosts!

Most relaxing weekend ever!

We visited this stunning glampsite to celebrate our anniversary. It was an absolute dream. We didn't overthink it before arriving at Birch Hill, which is why we were even more surprised to arrive at a beautifully kept farm on a rural cul-de-sac. This glampsite overlooks the farmland, with the utmost privacy. Every little detail was carefully thought of which added to a spectacular stay and is testament of the incredible hosts that Ben and Libby are.

The solar powered lights and gas bbq, cooktop and water were more than needed so the fact that the site is not supplied with electricity is a non factor. It was actually quite fun to be off the grid for a change.

The absolute favourite was the outdoor bath under the stars..

Officially sold on glamping and Hawkes Bay.

We had an absolutely amazing stay at Birch Hill over Christmas 2018.

We went with family and close friends and took our horses and kids bikes along for and adventure too.

We couldn't have been happier with the stay, the fittings of both the tents and the main building superceded our expectations. Beds and bedding were extremely comfy and of very high quality.

I highly recommend the buggy tour run my Max and Andy as it really gives you an idea of the scale of the farm and what is available for the best walks and tracks to take along to get where you want to go! Max and Andy also organized the archery activities for the kids which they absolutely loved.

Libby and Ben's (hosts) kids have also set up a little icecream freezer at the main house where guests to use an honesty box system to buy themselves treats, we certainly made use of this on several occasions!!!

Just 20 minutes from Porangahau beach where we were also able to take the horses and motocross bikes for a ride.

We absolutely loved our time here and will be back.

I spent a lot of time researching unique Kiwi accommodation for a road trip with my family. Out of a group of fantastic stays, Birch Hill was by far everyone’s favourite. The site itself is stunning with the most magnificent vista. The tents have been outfitted with a lot of thought and and care and are a beautiful fusion of rustic luxury.

The communal living area is perfectly set up with all the ammenities you need while camping (or just just living for that matter). The outdoor bath and shower are a real highlight and the kids loved the bird houses and hammock.

Libby and Ben (site owners) were extremely accommodating and helpful. More importantly they are really good people who take a lot of care of both the site and their guests.
