I have been living in Tulum for three months, decided to switch up the scenery and visit Bacalar Lagoon after everyone was talking about it. The drive down was beautiful and green (just be sure to fully gas up before you leave for the journey! There was not a lot of gas stations on the way)

Arriving at Habitas Bacalar you are greeted by a secured guarded gate, and then you are escorted to a beautiful open air reception area. Felt blessed Alondra asked us if we wanted a cleansing & intention setting ceremony with sacred wood and water from the lagoon. It was a beautiful meditative session for us to conscious and enjoy the land. Valleria and Danielle were very helpful if I had any issues.

The tent/rooms themselves were an experience! You would think living in a hut/cabin would feel small. But the high ceiling A-frame made the room feel better than a standard hotel room. The AC in the room also allowed for a comfortable stay, but you felt like you were living in the jungle with the outdoor shower.

Service was excellent! Servers were attentive and personable. The food is Michelin star quality and was plated beautifully. They really focused on utilizing the regional foods and flavors. Enrique, Raquel, and Miguel were fantastic.

What's PREMIUM about this Habitas location... is you can book a session as a beginner on the Lift Foils. If you have never heard of it, you get to fly above water with Lift eFoil boards and hydrofoils. Adam was a great instructor!
If this extreme experience isnt for you, you MUST ask about the sunrise paddle-boarding experience!

Only complaint I had, was I had #10 room and had poor wifi connection. So if you need to work from your room at all, I would probably suggest asking for one closer to the restaurant. BUT if you want to completely unplug, the rooms facing the lagoon are perfect!

& the mosquitos ate me up, BUT they provided each room with all-natural mosquito spray!

I cant WAIT to come back and share this experience with more of my friends & family. Would come back again.

This was perhaps the best trip I've ever taken. From the check in process to the meals to how the chairs were also angled towards the lagoon, there's not a single thing I would have changed. The staff were amazingly kind and attentive, the food was some of the best in my life, and the rooms are spacious but still cozy. It felt like paradise. I loved that there were different activities each day that anyone could participate in from yoga to live music, and that there were also solo things to do like paddle-boarding and kayaking. Habitas Bacalar is nothing short of magical. It's obvious that every single detail was thoughtful and intentional. I particularly appreciated that it's a plastic free resort and that all the food is sourced from local family farms. It felt both exotic and intimate. I could have stayed for weeks and still been amazed at the beauty.

Bacalar is spectacular; it's paradise. There are no words to describe it's beauty and history. To stay at Habitas, takes the experience to a whole new level. Habitas is a place where you unwind and connect with your surroundings. The rooms are actually canvas cabins that are well designed. They have A/C, running water (including hot water), comfy bedding, spacious bathroom with and outdoor shower in a very private and beautiful setting. There are yoga sessions through the day. The bars and restaurant are VERY good. It's like eating at a Michelin restaurant! Service is outstanding, the staff is attentive and friendly. We also booked massages at the wellness center: the experience was very relaxing. We also booked a private sailing tour, which was an amazing experience. If you're looking for a place to wind down, connect with nature (in paradise), and just relax, look no further: this is the place! I highly recommend this place!!!

Habitas Bacalar is an absolute dream. From the moment you walk on to the property you are met with a sense of calm and serenity. The spa services are all top notch-- amazing massages, facials and definitely consider trying the Temezcal and Janzu. I left feeling each so relaxed and rejuvenated. Yoga was also great. The food was absolutely delicious and had a lot of variety. Staff were all so nice and accommodating. I can't wait to go back.

The grounds and rooms are beautiful and the staff was very attentive. We missed our flight and arrived a day late. After messaging the hotel of our ordeal, they kept our room available for the late arrival. The food and drinks are bougie and the quality is top notch. A bit overpriced but hey you're in the middle of nowhere. We booked a ponton boat tour of the lagoon through the hotel and it was FANTASTIC! We were picked up at the hotel's little dock and it included a bottle of wine, a meats/cracker platter, and a fruit platter. Considering that the shower was outdoors, our encounter with bugs was zero. Getting driven in a golf cart to the room made the whole experience even more fun and secluded. Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay and would love to come back.

Extraordinary place. Location on the lake is mesmerizing, food is fantastic (albeit expensive), the soundbath meditation was a transformative experience, great beds (we stayed in room 14 which was very tranquil and private). If only I hadn’t been eaten alive by the mosquitos… Habitas kindly offers environmental friendly repellent but that just wasn’t enough for me. Small offer though for a stay in paradise.

This hotel is an experience in itself. It’s more like an eco-lodget, and the « rooms » are A shaped luxurious tents.
The location is absolutely stunning, you feel immersed in nature and the whole place is very relaxing. Being right by the laguna of Bacalar in such a secluded location is true luxury…
I also loved being able to attend the various wellness activities (yoga, meditation…), and although the rooms are not very large it’s not a problem since you will spend so much time outside!
The food is great (a lot of fresh local produces…) but very expensive and breakfast is not included.

We visited on May 2022.
We got there early, room wasn't ready.
Went to the restaurant to get some food. Both food and service were very good.
As soon as we finished we were informed the room was ready so we headed there to unpack and unwind. The room was big and cozy. The outdoor shower was a nice touch.
The hotel has no swimming pool as it has waterfront to one of the most beautiful Lagoons in the planet. It's just breathtaking. Couldn't stop looking at it. All these different shades of blue, turquoise and green.
We called our server to order drinks, he offered us a bottle of Mezcal for our entire stay, mixers included. We would mark the bottle by the end of each day and they would store it. By far the best deal.
Hotel was on the pricey range but also was worth every penny.
The service was excellent and the premises were beautiful.
The crowd was very hipster and eclectic. Very few Mexicans (mostly couples) and then groups of American tourists, from hippies living in Tulum to movie/tv actors from LA and groups of friends from NY.
It is worth noting there was no kids in the Hotel, not sure if they're allowed but there weren't any.
Kayaks and paddle boards were included and free for Hotel guests. That was a nice gesture. Some other resorts just usually try to charge for anything everything.
Our stay was nearly perfect. Only part we didn't appreciate much was the restrictions on regular sunscreen "to protect the environment" so they would only allow Organic/natural brands, which resulted in a painful sunburn.
I would definitely go back.

Our booking was cancelled on the day of our arrival, due to a mess up on the broker’s side. That can happen, but the way the handled the situation was not very professional. We received a message informing us that they had been unable to call us and asked us to contact them immediately, but didn’t provide a number, didn’t respond to electronic messages and it turned out that the phone numbers you find online are either dead or for WhatsApp usage only. So we ended up spending almost two hours of our holiday trying to reach this place to fix the situation and then ended up without a room for the night in the middle of the day. Not cool. All the hotel offered was apologies and a refund - which should have been obvious and not something to expect the customer’s gratitude for. Probably nice if you manage to actually stay here, but the (lack of) interaction really put us off and we wouldn’t consider booking again.

This hotel is by far the best hotel I have stayed in due to their mission on taking care of the ecosystem and taking care of their guest. I stayed in the Lagoon room and loved the outside shower, their matress was so comfortable, it felt so natural that I felt I was in a different life, if you are looking to get away and connect with yourself, this place is the place to do it at. The hotel looks better in person, it seems like you are in a movie. I truly loved the food options, everything is organic, loved the yoga classes, the best staff I have met in the hotel business by far. You will love the easy acess to the lagoon with the best sunrises. I noticed that any room you stay at will be a good experience since the hotel is not huge and thats what makes this place magical, no matter where you are at the hotel you will feel all the positive energy.
