I had a rather strange stay here. The host was pleasant enough but there were a few things that heavily let the place down. Firstly, I had no bed linen!! I had to use the bedspread and a dusty blanket. I mentioned it to the host the next morning and she still didn't remedy it for the second night. I was not offered breakfast on either morning although I saw another couple eat breakfast. The shower was terrible. No hot water except a dribble out of a low bath tap. I had to squat under it to splash water over me. Use of the kitchen was great. A lovely pet dog kept me company and the view out to the courtyard garden is nice. These things are not enough for me to recommend to others however. I would go elsewhere.
This is very much a homestay type set-up. A family have a couple of rooms that they let out (with private bathrooms). The rooms are separate from the rest of the house and face on to a pleasant courtyard. You share the same eating area and kitchen that the family uses but meals are not included (except breakfast) and you do not eat together. It was convenient being able to use the kitchen to prepare our dinner. When we stayed the woman was away and the man was there on his own. He was quite charming and friendly. The room was very basic. The bedlinen was old and worn and it did not feel freshly laundered. The beds were worse - one seemed broken and they were both very uncomfortable and we awoke feeling worse for sleeping on them. The rooms were only passably clean. Happily, the shower was excellent - hot and strong. Breakfast was dismal. It consisted of bread and jam and tea and coffee. The bread was stale. Most of this would have been ok except that the price (about $US40) was close to much better places we stayed the nights before and afterwards (indeed this place suffered by the comparison). The price was many times higher than the price that had been indicated in our guidebook, published just a year earlier (literally about 4 times higher!). If it had been at the original price it would have felt much different and less disappointing.…
