Just the most delightful venue for an overnight stay within an hour of Calais. Lots of character in a truly historic setting. The owners are attentive and helpful and the room was full of nick nacks both fun and practical. A firm comfortable bed. Though the only served meal is a tasty continental breakfast in the conservatory there’s a well stocked shop offering wholesome meals in sealed glass pots which were unexpectedly tasty. These can be heated up in a microwave in the bedroom and Madam supplies plates, cutlery and wine glasses. For less than €50 euros we had a tasty pate starter, a beofe bourgignion and a sausage, lentil stew washed down with a very pleasant bottle of Bordeaux wine - all purchased in the shop. Alternatively there are a variety of restaurants within 12km but the shop food proved very good for what we wanted. We’ve booked again for a trip in August. Worth noting that check in is not before 5pm.

Enter this property over the draw bridge and you enter a calm, pretty and sophisticated oasis… Isabelle our charming hostess..took time to show us our room and it’s features… coffee machine microwave kettle. The room was on the small side but it ticked all the boxes… food/ super from the small shop was average but the grounds were perfect for the dogs … tho chickens on the prowl! Breakfast in the conservatory with 180 views of the garden … perfect

This is a beautiful place with fabulous buildings in a quiet area. There is a building in the garden for special events such as weddings or parties which might disturb the peace if one was unfortunate enough to stay when such a "do" was occurring. My night in a chalet themed ground floor room off a fountain and statue filled courtyard was utterly peaceful, in a good bed and glad of it after a long drive up through France. The shower was one of those where if one wants to get all the jets in the right places one needs a degree but to get the basics it was simple to operate and the water was hot. Plenty of towels, even a hairdryer. I loved the little animal statues all over the place; the two inquisitive fowl in the bathroom, the owl or the mouse in the two window recesses, etc. Madame was attentive to my dietary needs and laid out a quality continental breakfast to suit. One ate it in the conservatory facing the garden where ducks and Moorhen "laughed" or dashed about in the tree branches. One crosses a river as if a moat and passes through a doorway which could have housed a portcullis and guards to park securely inside. The buildings were rebuilt on 12th Century remains in the 16th Century and are lovingly maintained. I had to eat and rather than drive double figure kms I opted to eat in a local take away doing Ch'ti specialities, burgers etc with chips. It was different but the lack of table d'hote is its Achilles heal.

The shower facility was simply a bath with a shower head attachment with no curtains so you had to kneel in the bath to take a shower.
The attic barn we stayed in was mainly of timber construction, there was no fire or smoke alarm fitted which in the UK would certainly have been illegal. It would be a tinderbox if it caught fire. There was one water fire extinguisher which would have been inadequate. There was a gas powered woodburning type stove which by the proprietors own admission was defective and could not be used during the night because of the loud noises it made; there was no CO alarm fitted to the property - worrying! On the night we stayed, the proprietor had allowed some sort of show (a clown with an amplifier and a dozen or so in the audience rotating every half hour) to take place directly outside where we were trying to sleep, it continued for 4 hours until 11pm. When I first phoned the proprietor around 9pm to ask when it would finish as we had an early start the next day, she said there was one more show, when I phoned again at 1030 she said "This is a B&B, if you want to sleep, stay at a hotel"! The proprietor refused any form or refund and clearly felt that disturbing guests for her convenience was perfectly acceptable. From a safety perspective alone I would avoid this place, but for the arrogant disregard to our ability to sleep, I would avoid at all costs.

with a charming host, comfortable room, home-cooked evening meal, very nice breakfast, modest bill and so much nicer and better value than most places in Northern France. Circumstances made it impossible for us to stay on our return journey but one we would certainly stay at again in the future

Had a very comfortable stay at this lovely B&B. We needed somewhere not too far into France and this was ideal. Room was very comfortable and a lovely home made breakfast. Secure parking was important to us as we had a car full. Hosts very hospitable. Thank you.

Very friendly, welcoming, helpful host. Comfortable room - the fan we requested was very welcome as it was quite warm. Lovely grounds with chairs and tables for sitting out near a duckpond. Nice continental breakfast. Overall a very nice stay for one night.

Great place, very welcoming host. We were in the family room which was a good size - four poster bed, and another bed in an attic area. Great for the kids' imagination ! Especially as it is in a old chateau, complete with moat, drawbridge and big gate. The grounds have some ponds with ducks, garden area and a spooky little hut and raised walk way. The room was decorated with a skiing theme, and lots of little knock knacks. So idiosyncratic combination of things but comfortable, welcoming - recommended.

We liked everything about this property. Good, efficient response from owners regarding check-in time. Friendliest of welcomes from the owner and her old Dalmation "Urgo". Loved the grounds, our room, the food, the wine, the breakfast, the ducklings running around. Wi-Fi worked perfectly. The owner speaks a little interest but makes a huge effort to speak French slowly, clearly and using simple words so even a novice can enjoy speaking to her in French. The general area is lovely too.

Stopped over after arriving on the Eurotunnel for an overnight stay with our two dogs before the long trip south. We were met by Isabelle and shown around the lovely room. We had a booked an evening meal and can strongly recommend as it was all very nice local food both for dinner and breakfast. Cannot say how nice the stay was, so quiet and peaceful. We shall definately be staying here again and next time for longer
