Detailed Reviews
We stopped at the hotel and attended a friends wedding. The venue is beautiful in a picturesque setting. The wedding was lovely but the problem was the teepee is situated next to the ceremony venue and staff decided it was acceptable to bin bottles half way through the ceremony crashing them into bins. The food was lovely a hog roast with salad. Staff were far to quick in removing plates while guests were still eating. I would recommend waiting till a whole table has finished to be polite. The guest rooms were clean and tidy but tired. The bedroom doors have no slow shut mechanism which I wonder if conforms to fire safety regulations. The doors are very loud and if you don't lock them with the key open when other rooms along the corridor are opened and shut. The shower in our room had very low pressure so the rain forest head was poor flow and the normal head didn't have enough pressure to work. For the price of the rooms I would have expected complementary shower gel shampoo etc not a bottle of Dove stuck in a holder on the wall one of which was broken and empty.
Overall a lovely venue which could be exemptional with a little time and effort to update. Not worth the room price even with the wedding discount.

What a wonderful family hotel in a great location we stayed in a river room suite and it was lovely to sit on the balcony and watch all the boats and numerous swans go by. The food was fantastic and plentiful especially the breakfasts. All of the staff were very happy and could not do enough for you. We would like to give a special mention to Enrico the duty manager we was wonderful and great fun.
We hired a boat from the Wroxham Boat Hire which was next to the hotel. They were also excellent and gave us much help with the boat.
A wonderful few days and we will be recommending both to friends and family and we will return

The Wroxeter hotel is situated in the village of Wroxeter and has some wonderful views of the countryside.
I attended a party in January 2025 and was looking forward to a great stay. The party was lovely, however I have a number of issues with this hotel.
1. The food that was served on the evening was adequate however the pizzas were “flabby” and unappetising. We had to ask for the plates to be cleared away when guests had finished eating.
2. The cake was “whisked” away to be cut up and returned. The pieces were enormous and each slice could have fed two people. When I asked for a knife to cut it in to more manageable pieces the member of staff looked blankly at me and I had to ask again.
3. Breakfast was well below what I would have expected. This was served between 8AM and 9:30 AM. This seems rather early for an event hotel, where guests did not get to bed till after midnight. Each table had toast already on the table at 8AM. So, it was cold when we came downstairs at 8.30 The food was left in heated trays, again from 8AM. Tea and Coffee were in thermos pots. There was a limited choice of individual cereal boxes and a few yogurts. There was no fruit or cold meats, which many hotels offer as standard these days.
It did feel as if everything was done on a shoestring budget, and some staff need some further training in customer service.

Stayed one night for family wedding. Venue appears short staffed on reception. Hard to reach on the phone, always have to leave a message. Patchy availability of staff on reception to respond to guests needs. Had to pay extra to access room early to change into wedding attire.
Room smelled strongly of vomit. After complaining a staff member was dispatched to investigate but simply sprayed air freshener to cover up the smell. Another staff member reluctant to accept that carpet smelled of vomit and tried to deny the obvious odour. Eventually someone attempted to spot clean the carpet with limited success. How can any self-respecting hotel clean and prepare a room for guests later in the day and hope they won't notice the stench of vomit?
Mattress tired and saggy, old thin and shabby duvet, no shower gel, shampoo or conditioner. Soap dispenser in shower was missing, just the bracket remained.
Food provided was basic quality. No wine provided to toast the happy couple, guests had to buy their own. No facility for indoor weddings, ceremony took place outside, either in the open if weather allowed or in a large tent.
Disco in the evening was enjoyable but dance floor had LED lights embedded which hotel wanted to be paid an exorbitant amount to turn on.
Overall impression was of a hotel seeking to maximise profit by providing as little as possible in return.

Went here for Christmas lunch last year (2023) and it was absolutely fantastic, so booked again this year and what a difference 12 months makes. Paid just under £100 per person (without drinks) and it was absolutely terrible. Can only assume there has been a change of management (or manager) but it totally ruined Christmas Day. It seemed that they had got too greedy and had taken on too many bookings and could not handle them. Staff were too few and some very inexperienced. Parking was chaotic with too few spaces for the number of guests. We taken in to the restaurant for 1315; a bread roll came 20 mins later; the starter came at 1400 prawns with a bit of salad and pea mousse so nothing had to be cooked; and on it went - another 40 mins for the mains - we had a traditional Christmas dinner which was OK but nothing special like last year; took another 55 mins for the puddings to arrive - the Christmas pudding had been hanging around some time and gained crusty edges that were inedible, it was sitting in a little bit of white sauce but no extra sauce or custard offered. Coffee and tea also took forever - most people around us had given up and left but we hung out and finally left at 1615, three painful hours and £550 for the five of us. Definitely not worth the money and we will never go back. Strangely no-one said thanks for coming! Thankfully there are other good options in the area and wherever we end up next year, it couldn't be any worse. Ruined Christmas Day completely, everyone felt completely deflated. Buyer beware!

I stayed in The Wroxeter with a group of friends for an event. It is a great location, close enough to cities that you can go have fun and far enough to get some much needed peace and quiet.
The surroundings are very beautiful, in the middle of the English countryside, which you can see through your room's window when you wake up. After having a tasty English breakfast, you can take a leisurely morning stroll through the fields and maybe even to the nearby roman ruins.
In the afternoon we tried a local pub that the staff recommended (10 minutes by car) for a nice beer and excellent fish & chips, and then went to visit The Ironbridge.
For the night, the hotel has a bar where you can get a nightcap, and some chatting before going to bed.
The room I stayed in was not too big, but it was clean, warm, cozy, and was not missing any of the amenities you expect to find.
The staff was very friendly and helpful at all times. They helped plan activities and in general contributed to having a great time. I'm definitely looking forward to staying here again.

We have just celebrated our 40th Wedding Anniversary with family and friends at The Wroxeter Hotel. Our party was held in the Eyton Suite which was beautifully decorated with the twinkle backdrop and white table cloths with decorative lamps in the centre of the tables. We chose to have a hog roast and a selection of salads, followed by desserts, and the food and service were very good. We danced the night away with our own band and the bar staff were attentive and friendly. All of the bedrooms were booked by our guests and we were all made to feel welcome from the moment we checked in. The rooms were clean and comfortable and we enjoyed a lovely breakfast buffet the following morning. Again, nothing was too much trouble and we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the hotel. The hotel itself is set in beautiful surroundings with outside decking and seating areas, which we were able to enjoy in the sunshine. A wonderful venue for celebrations!

Attended a family wedding on 27th December. I had booked a room as had a number of guests attending for the whole day. On arrival, we were told we could book in early for an extra £10.00, having already paid £120! I agreed reluctantly but then had to wait 10 minutes while a member of staff rummaged around in a key box only to be given a different room as the key has disappeared. This was not the reception or greeting I was expecting!
Once in the room, I was really underwhelmed. I frequently stay in Premier Inns, pay a fraction of the cost and get a much better service/room and having 1 tea bag and 1 coffee portion each was stingy to say the least.
The ceremony was lovely thank goodness but as soon as we were back in the hands of the hotel, you could tell they weren't quite as attentive as they should have been. It soon transpired that a much bigger wedding was happening the day after and you could tell that they thought we were not as important!
The food wasn't bad at all, thank goodness and the only member of staff who stood out was the Food & beverage Manager who was excellent! On the evening, the pizza & chips buffet was uninspiring and not what the family expected. Thankfully the DJ was a big hit and made the evening for us. The next morning, breakfast was very good, however, the gent who I believe was Italian, decided to be rather rude, took plates away so quickly that we felt he was trying to get rid of us as quickly as possible.
The Bride & Groom had a lovely day but they deserved so much better!
If it was my hotel, I would create a much better first impression, ensure EVERY wedding was treated the same, irrespective of budget/.numbers and I would get the decorators in immediately and re vamp the rooms!
If you are marketing yourself as a THE place to have a wedding, make it the day of the family's dreams, nothing else is acceptable really is it?

We came to attend the wedding of a family member upon our arrival the greeting from the lady on reception was fantastic and very helpful. ( we hope her operation and recovery goes well).
The wedding was outdoors in a lovely area, and reception in the huge TP, and the evening back in the hotel. All staff were very curtious, helpful and attentive with any request for help dealt with quickly.
Our room (8) was very nice, clean and welcoming and I know other family members stopping the night said the same about their rooms. Although after a heavy session perhaps a lift to our room would have been nice not a disadvantage too us but with age going against us it took a while longer to get the legs to work up the stairs.
I would thoroughly recommend any body to book your wedding at the venue.
Regards
John and Gill Graham.

We were there for a wedding, so the question of pets never arose. Staff in the office were very friendly, a quick call to the hotel might be the easiest way to find out.
It's about 0.4 mile it's quiet close a 2 min drive,hope this helps.
We recently stayed at this hotel and had the most amazing time.
Perhaps you should of picked up the phone or sent in an email asking questions of your concerns. I don't think writing on on a business Facebook page is polite!
Unfortunately the farmer who used to allow us day tickets near Eyton no longer does. I have asked English Heritage, who own almost all the fields (and river bank) around the Hotel, if they would let tickets, but they have yet to respond. I’ll keep asking. ed@thewroxeterhotel
Indeed there is and the gardens and views are lovely.
