I had booked Arosmari in January, thinking I would be ready for a relaxing break in August - a really great decision! From the moment of arrival at Chania airport, everything was perfect. We were greeted by one of the Simpsons team who had ensured the hire car was a few steps away and ready to go. Driving to Vamos we were treated to wonderful views of the White Mountains and our first look at the lovely village with its fabulous tavernas, a couple of bakeries, a bank and some cute shops. Sotiris and Alexia were there to meet us as we arrived round the corner at Arosmari which was simply a haven of peace and beauty. I could have happily sat around the pool under an olive tree all week, venturing away only to sleep in our pretty and immaculately clean cottage (we were in Camomile) or eat. The spectacular breakfast buffet prepared each by Stella and Ruby was a highlight. We were lucky enough to be there for a music evening in the Arosmari amphitheatre and thanks to expert advice from Alexia we took a trip to Kournas Lake which with its glorious mountain setting and cool water to swim in. Thank you to everyone for making our stay so special, so relaxing and so enjoyable. I will be sustained through the winter by memories of sunrise runs along the pink gravel paths with their banks of fennel, the sandy beach at Kalyves, wandering around beautiful Chania, lazing on terraces or by the pool with a beer and the sound of cicadas and the fantastic companionship of all those working and staying there. Thank you.

We had a delightful week at this charming hotel which comprises 10 traditional renovated stone cottages loosely grouped around a beautiful central garden, large swimming pool and breakfast area. We stayed in Fennel Cottage which had wonderful views from the upstairs balcony of the snow covered White Mountains. Its semi rural location on the outskirts of Vamos village was very peaceful yet it was only a short walk to the village tavernas, bars and shops. There are numerous local walks that go through some beautiful countryside. In May the wild flowers were gorgeous. The concierge/host Alexia was lovely, enthusiastic and extremely helpful; the breakfast staff Stella & Ruby produced a fresh and inviting morning buffet; we feel we must give a shout out to all the staff including cleaners Elena & Maria & handyman Sotiris.

We had such a lovely time at Arosmari (Bay cottage). Many, many thanks to Nikos, Susan, Sotiris and Ruby who did everything they could to make our stay so fantastic. This is a little gem, a quiet retreat in a beautiful Cretan village, with plenty of tavernas, shops and cafes. We can't wait to return!!

My friend and I stayed in Arugular Cottage. We loved it. There was lots of space and everything we needed. We cooked on several evenings. The grounds were large with a large swimming pool, a breakfast room, a shepherd's hut, a threshing circle and an ampitheatre where a weekly music event is held. Breakfasts were very good with lots of choice. We didn't sample the light lunches. We visited the sister hotel and the beach which was lovely. Many thanks to Susan who couldn't do enough to make the holiday special. And also to Sotiri and Ruby the cook. This was our second visit to a Simpson hotel - we stayed at the Blue Jasmin in Kefalonia in May and had an amazing time. We will definitely be using Simpson again.

We stayed in Basil Cottage for 2 weeks. The cottage was delightfully quirky with a fabulous view over to the White Mountains from the balcony. The pool area and the grounds are an absolute delight and wonderful to explore. Susan, as others have commented is brilliant. Her knowledge of the area is just outstanding and nothing is too much trouble. She is well supported by the lovely Sotiris and Ruby who keeps him in line! We loved the village of Vamos though it could be served with more choice of places to eat. Just a great couple of weeks and we met some lovely people too!

We just finished a week in Thyme cottage in Arosmari Village Hotel. We loved it. A huge thank you to Susan, Sotiris and Ruby and all at Arosmari for making our trip so fantastic. The whole ambience is so pleasant. The perfect place to relax and unwind. They take such good care of you. I genuinely couldn’t find any fault. Simpsons organised everything so well before and during the trip and at the airport too. We will be back.

On the edge of an authentic Cretan village, overlooked by the towering White Mountains, this place is utterly enchanting. It effortlessly combines beautiful landscaped gardens, a handful of delightful cottages, a stunning pool/spa area and sublime service with the very best of Greek hospitality and pure Cretan charm. Without doubt one our most relaxing, enjoyable and memorable holidays. We are already planning our return. An absolute gem!

This is an amazing place, not just because of the stunning rooms, stunning pool, stunning grounds but the people. Sikir looked after us like kings and queens, ruby's cooking is amazing and Susan keeps it running smoothly. Nikos the owner put on our own concert and BBQ and it is such a special place. We also met great like minded guests to go off on cookery courses and play games by the pool. It was a very special holiday thanks to all of this and one we will treasure for ever! Thank you! Pete and Jo xx ( cycling, gardens, sailing, swimming, real local Greek restaurants, local concerts. Recommend a 100% and would go back today! xxx miss you all !!!!

Still missing Arosmari having recently returned from a fabulous holiday! We felt at home right away and after three weeks (I extended!) could have stayed on forever! What a wrench it was to leave such a beautiful place - I cried in the taxi to the airport. But it's still there for you to enjoy, and we will definitely be returning! We can't speak highly enough of the staff. Sotiris and Susan kept us entertained and informed whilst delivering a very professional service. Nicos, the owner, and Ruby were also very kind and helped me out on a couple of occasions with transport and creepy crawlies!! We loved the quirky design of the hotel and every day discovered something new. We really couldn't find anything negative about it. The pool is beautiful and warm and all the guests experienced having it to themselves occasionally! With the honesty bar next to it, can it get any better? We also had massages from Roberto and Manuela who have a beautiful energy and are highly skilled. It's only a short walk into Vamos centre which caters very well for tourists yet retains authenticity. The people were incredibly friendly and there were a surprising number of quality events on. Another bonus was that we were able to use the facilities at the GK Beach Hotel in Kalives which meant sun loungers and umbrellas on the shore line, and when it all got too much, lunch just behind in the restaurant. There is lots to do in the surrounding area too. We only made it to Chania though!

Dear Marlow43 Thank you for your wonderful comments about Arosmari and it's so nice to hear you extended your stay there. Having been there myself, it felt like a traditional Greek charming oasis set in beautiful surrounds just on the outskirts of the lovely town of Vamos. I am also very pleased the staff looked after you so well, they are a great team and from personal experience, I totally agree that Roberto and Manuela are highly skilled and give the most amazing massages. We all hope to see you back there again soon. Best wishes Aaron Greenberger Customer Service Manager Simpson Travel

One of the most relaxing holidays for a while. Our little cottage was full of Cretan charm and the view of the mountains from our veranda was beautiful. We were made very welcome and looked after daily by the staff; Susan, the Simpson’s Rep could not do enough for us. We would definitely use Simpson’s Travel again to visit another destination and hope we find another Susan there! Thank you for a wonderful holiday!
