We were due to arrive just after midnight into Papeete for a cruise, departing the same day. Being summer we were only travelling with lighter suitcases. Researching Papeete accommodation (both the negatived/positive comments) we booked this motel due to its location to Fa'a'ā International Airport. Inquires with the motel indicated late night taxi costs from the airport to the motel were approx. 30 XPF (A$45) as a taxi after 10pm is at a night rate, even though the motel was less than 500m's away. Our Air NZ flight was further delayed, arriving at 4.30am, with a taxi driver indicating the cost would be 50 XPF (A$70) to the motel. Hate to think what the cost would have been for a 10 km fare.
We walked across the car park up steps and around via the bitumen road, with 200 m's being a steep walk with only 1 car seen. The walk took us less than 10 min's, we were greeted by a friendly staff member, who I'd advised from Auckland of our later than expected arrival into Papeete.
Our stay had been pre-paid with check-in being quick. Our room on the 3rd floor was clean and quiet, with an excellent shower, firm but comfortable beds, working aircon and wifi. We slept, as that's all we wanted to do until shortly before our 11am checkout.
I've stayed in London, where the costs were far more excess with similar room standards. Our room which some would consider basic, meet all our needs for our late arrival and we would happily book the motel, in the future for arriving or departing Papeete.

The hotel is quite basic, but fine if you need a place close to the airport for a morning departure the following day. That said, if you want to go into town for a meal or to look around, a taxi will be expensive (about XPF2,500), so a location perspective, it’s not the best, apart from being near the airport. Buses run close to the hotel, but the last one is at about 18:00. Also, just getting from the airport to the hotel is a bit of a pain if you want to walk and have multiple bags. Finally, note that there is no bag storage available unless you will be coming back in a few days or a week and spending the night there. If you have an afternoon or evening flight and want to leave your bag for the day, this is not possible.

The Tahiti Airport Motel is a well-kept facility in a very convenient location. I stayed for 2 nights, once outbound to Mo'orea after a late-arriving flight and once inbound. Walking to the hotel from the airport involves a bit of a climb, so I took a taxi. On the way back from the hotel to the airport, I walked, and it was easy and convenient, though I only had carry-on luggage. My room had a great view of the airport, the channel and Mo'orea.

3rd time stay, convinient as always for a quick night stay in between flights.

Thai airport is right across the airport. They used to have a direct access to the road which unfortunately was closed by the neighbor. You now need to walk around. It's a quick 10 mins walk but a but uphill. It's doable with stroller bag. It's can be a little difficult if you have large suitcases. You can also take taxi for 2000xfp especially if you are arriving after sunset.

Hotel is basic but has private baths, clean rooms and air conditioning that cools the room quickly. Water bottles, small snacks and breakfast are available at extra price.

Highly recommend for if you are looking to spend a night between flights and close to airport

My wife and I have stayed here before so it was somewhat of a known commodity, but it had been a while. We booked on-line and were down for two nights. The easy way directly up the hill is now blocked, and you need to go up the road just past the Chinese restaurant. The road is steep and fairly dangerous at night , so a taxi is a better option. We arrived in the late evening and the reception was open and quite helpful. I had a bit of a problem with the A/C, but the staff sent someone up to help quite quickly. Very nice. I was impressed that they seem to have a new or renovated elevator. This is not the Ritz, but it is clean and quiet and the bed is comfortably firm. You need to order the breakfast the evening before and pay, but for Tahiti, the price is fair. The croissants are fresh and the coffee is hot. You can get the bus downtown (on the Main Street) for only 200CPF ($2 US) and it runs frequently and is clean. Careful returning as it might stop running at 18:00. We had a great visit here, the staff is great and they even called the cab for us. If you are inbound for a cruise this is a great and reasonable option.

I highly recommend this convenient, nearby hotel if you have a layover in Papeete. We had extra baggage so we took a cab, plenty were lined up out in front of the airport. Twenty dollars, one way, to the hotel, but I recommend it, especially after a long flight. We paid in XPF, procured at the airport ATM, but the cab driver said he would have also taken US dollars.

Upon arrival, the desk clerk was helpful, friendly and efficient. One of them even helped me carry our bags up the 6 stairs to the elevator. Bottled water and some snacks are available for purchase in a cooler near the front desk. Get two waters. Tap water is non-potable. Use bottled water to brush teeth. Elevators and hallways are quite warm but your room will cool down quickly once you turn on the AC. Mini fridge and water cooker in room, TV, A/C and solid wifi. Black Pearl jewelry on display for sale in glass case in the lobby.

Room was fairly spacious and clean, large bed, desk, chair, soap, tea, wonderful floor to ceiling windows with blackout shades. Bright room w good light. Bring adapters if you want to use the electrical outlets to recharge your US devices. We brought an extension cord that then gave us 3 outlets instead of just the one. Two bath towels and 2 hand/face towels were provided. Night stands on both sides of the bed. Check out 11am

Easy online reservations.
Recommended.

We’ve travelled to Tahiti before so we knew the airport hotel was just across the road from the airport. We booked a night there as we arrived from Raiatea at 8pm and had a flight to go home at 4am the next morning. We put our luggage in some trolleys and walked to the back of the airport car park. We then carried our luggage up a flight of stairs. You then have to cross a road but there’s a crossing. There was no clear signage where the entrance was. We started walking looking for the entrance but it was very dark and some people were lurking so we didn’t feel safe to go wandering looking for the entrance. We went back to the airport and asked the information desk where the entrance was. She said they had blocked off the former entrance straight across the road from the airport and the only way to get there was by taxi around the back of the hotel. The taxi wanted to charge us 3500 ($50 Australian). Since we were going have to pay the same again to get back to the airport we decided just to stay at the airport till our next flight. We were so disappointed as we wanted a rest and to freshen up before the flight. We weren’t willing to pay $100 in taxi fees on top of the hotel fee that we had already paid especially when it was so close to the airport.

I had stayed at this hotel twice before and was very satisfied with its location, right in front of the airport, convenient for early Check-out or late arrivals. However, for a few months now, direct pedestrian access has been closed!!! We are therefore forced to make a mind-blowing detour of at least 20 minutes walking in the dark according to schedule, on paths not very reassuring to reach the back of the hotel on foot! The same for the return to the airport. This of course requires taking a taxi to and from the airport at 2000 francs each way. Without direct pedestrian access, this hotel has no interest. You might as well choose a much cheaper Airbnb and pay for your taxi in the same way. Very very disappointed and angry not to have been informed of the situation before our arrival!

It was very convenient for a 1.30am arrival. We walked despite the time of night and it was relatively easy - steep steps in one place but certainly manageable (taxi queue was quite long) - only 5 mins walk. Despite other neater e reviews we found the rooms basic but very clean and good A/C - all that is required for simple stop over at a reasonable price. Well done

they don't have a day room system. We tried to check in at noon, and they wanted to charge an additional $50. We were told normal checkin was at 2pm. Thankfully, a room opened up at 1pm, and they let us check in at 1pm. Our flight was leaving at midnight, and at the last minute was cancelled. The hotel staff were very accommodating, and let us have our room back without any additional charge.

I saw the cruise terminal/docks right in the city centre- it is a massive and impressive looking building (totally unexpected location and presentation!). The Tahiti Airport Motel is just a short walk down a slightly rough driveway to the main road that goes into town. I saw a bus stop there and have no doubt that it will have very regular bus service into the city. If I was you, I would stay at the Tahiti Airport Motel (especially if you arrive at night and want to save money- it's cheap for Tahiti and clean) then ask at reception about the bus. If the bus option turns out to be 'too hard' (which I very much doubt), there are taxis that hang around the motel. Good luck!

Yes there is an elevator, but you have to walk up a few steps to get to it, there is no ramp.
