I have stayed twice now. Each time gets better. It s more like an apartment, with a large very comfortable living room, dining area and a fully equipped kitchen. Also a large balcony with a view across the sea to Moorea. Eating out in Tahiti is very expensive, being able to cook your evening meal makes a huge saving. Being 2 minutes from the airport is very convenient, and Anita meets you with complimentary transport,( taxis are also very expensive) The beds are very comfortable and bathroom is first class, the breakfast excellent. Anita and her husband could not be more helpful. For the budget tourist this would be perfect as a base to explore Tahiti and Moorea, only 30 mins away by fast ferry.

I recently stayed at Fare Hau for a night in between the ferry back from Moorea and a flight out of Tahiti and the service was amazing. Anita & Moerani were more than willing to accommodate our travel needs (involving an extra airport transfer for my wife and two daughters, as they were flying to America to visit family). I would recommend Fare Hau to anyone that is in need of inexpensive accommodation close to the Pape'ete airport. Thanks again!

- Super clean
- Super friendly
- Super Service (Transfers, Breakfast, fully equipped kitchen)

If you are in Transit or planning a Trip around the Islands, choose the Farehau you would not belive their Service! The Staff was helping us in every case! We stayed there for the first 4 Nights to plan our Trip, and we will stay there again the last night before we leave.
It is very close to the Airport, with a free Transfer.
It was the best accomondation in the last few months, and we stayed in many!

Thanks to Anita and her Husband!

Please read all of this review. It has some goods but also some bad.
This is an ok place to stay overnight close to the airport.
House is nice and well located.
The owner take you to and from the airport and supermarket for free. They also offer a free shuttle to the closest hotel.
Our room was very small. I think It was the cheapest. They also have a few more bigger rooms for a lot more money. It was clean.
They offer breakfast because there is nothing nearby and you rely on them at all times to do anything. No many services in the area. Breakfast includes coffee, tea, bread, butter, jam and fruit. Nothing else as they mention on the booking. We did not get any fruit on our last day.
Internet works.
They say they accept cards but they don't. They only want cash.
They say they offer luggage storage but they don't. Check out is at 10am and they want you out.
We had a bad and unpleasant experience with them. They were not nice at all with us when we asked them to leave the bags for a few ours as our flight was late. We did not have enough cash to pay on the last night because we expected to pay with card and they did not like that either so they owner threaten us. We payed them to take us to the ferry at 8.10am. They said that due to traffic we should leave at 6.30. They owner came at 6.20 and say we had to leave. At 7 am we were waiting for the ferry. The owner also lied to us about the bus to the airport. She just wanted her money so she took us to a cashpoint at the airport first and then left us 1 hour earlier waiting for the ferry.

We stayed at FareHau on our first night in Tahiti and it was unfortunately an unpleasant start to our holiday. The hotel is close to the airport and the pick-up service is very nice. The rooms are also clean and well maintained (though we had to fix the toilet's flush system).

However, in all other regards the service was wanting. Firstly, when we arrived at 9pm we were incredibly hungry and asked about shops in the area where we could pick up something to eat. This is problematic because the hotel is in the middle of nowhere. The owners told us that all the shops were closed. That's understandable, but we would have paid them for some of the breakfast food, which turned out to be baguettes and cheese. Instead, after some discussion between themselves, they offered to drive us into town to get takeaway. In central Papeete there are numerous food trucks that serve great good until midnight. We were incredibly grateful and thanked them profusely for their generosity and help and discussed leaving them a substantial tip, yet discovered the next morning that they had added the trip to our bill and charged us per person, despite telling us that both of us should go! If they had been upfront about the cost it would have been fine, but we also would have only sent one of us to get food and bring it back. We couldn't help but feel like they had deliberately deceived us to make more money.

Unfortunately, the ride into town was not even the worst of it. We were taking the ferry to the island of Moorea the following day. Despite check-out being 10am, they insisted repeatedly that "it would be better" if we caught the 9.30 ferry. They initially told us that we should be ready to go at 8.30, but then changed it to 8am. When we asked why we couldn't take a later ferry (there was on at 12.30) they simply said that "it is better for you". It really wasn't. We had to wait in the ferry terminal for over an hour and then arrived at our hotel in Moorea four hours before check-in, exhausted from lack of sleep and uncomfortable. We couldn't help but feel that it was really better for them. They also added the cost of the trip to the ferry onto our bill without discussing it with us. Again, had they been upfront it would have been fine. But, nothing excuses kicking customers out before check-out.

My wife and I spent 3 nights at Fare Hau. Anita, our host, was very accommodating and helpful, as was her daughter. The accommodation was exceptionally clean and tidy. Shoes were to be left at the entrance. The breakfast was very good, fresh fruit, juice, bread made for a good start to the day. Our room, Moana, was the only one with a private bath. The other 3 rooms had to share a bath. The A/C in our room was wonderful and kept the temperature very comfortable for sleeping. Internet was okay, but you needed to be in the living area or on the lanai for best reception. On the downside, Fare Hau was EXTREMEMLY hard to find. We made one attempt upon arrival, gave up and spent the day driving around the island. We finally went back to the airport, rented a wifi hotspot and had to follow it, meter by meter, to the B&B. There are NO street signs anywhere so its next to impossible to map yourself to a place. Also, Fare Hau is fairly isolated from the downtown area, restaurants, etc., so you really need a car, else you're stuck there and have to call a taxi for any travel. Cabs in Papeete charge extra for going up a hill so it isn't cheap. Were it not for the difficulty to find and the remoteness from restaurants, etc., we would 've rated it much higher. As an aside, we met some amazing and wonderful people who were also staying there so we car pooled a lot, ate together, and made new friends. Finally, Anita makes/paints pareos which she sells commercially, so it was fun to watch her work. They were beautiful.

This hotel is relatively close to the airport (5min drive). You will in either case need a taxi, but the hotel has some good contacts. The staff is extremely friendly and kind and it will make you feel welcome and at home. The rooms are very pleasant and the overall decoration is lovely and exotic! This is definitely a great deal of a place to stay in Papeete.

Anita and Moa are really helpful. Waited for me to pick me up from the airport. Took me to a supermarket. The rooms are clean and its a great view from the balcony. Breakfast was good.
No problem to store some luggage till I'm coming back to Tahiti from my island hopping.
If you're on Tahiti before or after the other beautiful islands around it's a fantastic place to stay.

Unfortunately the area around is not really beautiful. Far to town or any other nice places.
If you want to do some things you need a car.

I had recently completed a long day of solo travel from San Francisco. I was very tired. What a relief to be picked up by Andre and Anita and helped me with the ATM before we headed into the hills to their house. I had a real nice room with a lovely private bathroom. I was tired and soon fell asleep in the comfortable bed. The room had it's own AC so the temp was quite nice! I woke up a bit early (there is an overabundance of roosters) and wandered into the kitchen where a nice continental breakfast, hot coffee awaited me. Nice!!! I was the only one around and it was very peaceful. I ate my breakfast on the large deck overlooking the bay and subsequently took a nce wlak in the neighborhood. They drove me to the airport later that morning. It was such a delightful stay; warm, hospitable, home comfort!

Accommodation is a bedroom in a large, clean 4 bedroom apartment with a large kitchen, dining, lounge area and a large balcony. The bedroom we had had an ensuite shower and toilet. The bedroom was small but fine for one night. When we were there there were no other occupants.

We were picked up from the airport very efficiently and arrived at the accommodation at about 8 p.m.at night and really there was no where to go and eat without getting another taxi so come with some snacks or eat before you arrive.

It might be better to pay a little extra and stay in an airport hotel if you just need somewhere to sleep on a stopover.
