Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Good view, good food, friendly hosts. Too many good things to write about. Check it yourself. Um, 102 characters left... the road to Lake Coleridge might be closed, the ZSig-Zag Rd is a good short cut. Ask Butch for more local info.

There is only one unit assigned for RCI or AFVC. The place is outdated musty and up for sale. It is typical of AFVC to get lousy weeks in the worst units. I have been a member for many years and hoping to see changes as just about every other week booked is a disaster of an accommodation, The facility is either under construction. pool, restaurant is closed.

Wonderful place great hosts, great views, great food and VERY CLEAN! Jo and Butch a very friendly and hospitable. Butch is the chef and delivers wonderful meals with great choices. Nice open fire to warm in front off and a very well stocked Bar for those who like a drink or two. The view from anywhere in the Lodge is amazing and changes all the time. The rooms were nice and warm and the kitchenette well stocked. I have travelled worldwide and I was astounded just how clean our unit was. Even though it has been built a few years, everything was so clean. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

We had a five night stay at Mr Hutt Lodge. We were made to feel so welcomed as soon as we arrived and our hosts couldn't have been more friendly or helpful! Our accommodation contained everything we needed for a comfortable stay and the views were amazing!

Butch and Jo, the owner/operators, are so kind and welcoming and happy to help make your trip wonderful. They treated us as family. They lent us a fishing rod to fish in the river down the hill from the lodge. And invited us to golf with them and lent us sets of clubs. So sweet! The area is beautiful, bucolic countryside with amazing rivers and lakes and mountains and welcoming small towns. The Rakaia River is down the hill and is your view out back from the unit. It is such a beautiful blue with a stone beach to chill out on. Bring bug spray to deter the sand flies, their bites itch but it’s a small price to pay. The view out back of the unit is of the river and gorge and Mt Hutt. Such an awesome spot to sit and watch the sunset and stars. The unit has all the essentials for a relaxing week including beautiful wool blankets to cozy up in on the cool evenings. It’s great to have the bar at the lodge to chat with other guests and Jo and Butch. We cooked all our own meals, but heard the food is great.

We had lunch here and it was great. The decor is a bit dated but the service is first class, we had a steak and the venison pies which were all superb., the fries were the best ever. The owners, Butch (the cook) and his wife Jo are extremely knowledgeable about the area, they would also have a million stories to tell, you only have to look at the photos on the walls to see this. Mt Hutt Lodge timeshare exchange Unit 5, Nov 4 - 11, 2022. The location in spectacular but the lodge/resort is aging, and it shows. I have stayed at this location a number of times as a timeshare exchange participant and was assigned an inferior unit on this occasion. Cleanliness disappointing.

We had a great week at Mt Hutt Lodge despite the unseasonal rain. Our hosts, Butch and Jo were very friendly and helpful while not intrusive at all. The location is great for anyone interested in spectacular walks, skiing (in winter), angling, jet boat rides etc. The Sunday evening information session run by Jo was very informative and provided information on more activities than could possibly fit into a week.

We loved our stay at Mt Hutt Lodge. Yes-the units are showing their age - but everything else is amazing. Butch and Jo are very welcoming hosts and the location and views are spectacular. There is SO much to see and do in the area-we will certainly be back.

Good one night stay. Kind welcoming hosts, who let us check in early and opened thier restaurant to cook us dinner when it would usually be closed. The rooms were a little cold in the middle of a cold winter, but plenty of bedding provided. View was amazing. Lovely and peaceful and not to far from Mt Hutt.
