We stayed for New Year in the sun... Great friendly welcome from Benz, he explained what the hotel had to offer & took us to our villa where by magic our suitcases was waiting! Lovely clean hotel & surrounding areas. We stayed in one of the villas by the pool, nice clean villa, the towels were a bit tired & thin if I have any suggestions. Breakfast was limited, but nice - particularly overlooking the sea. Peter (the manager) came round daily to check all is ok, nice touch. Massages on the beach was top notch, Ping knows what she's doing, she knew where to leave & where extra attention was needed. Should I go again, yes.

Very nice beach hotel with free shuttle service to Lamai. Very nice staff as well.
The room was spacious with 2 beds, sofa, working table, closet with the safe box. The bathroom was a bit small, but clean. There was also pretty big balcony with sitting sofa.
Swimming pool area is great, with palms and other tropical plants. The property is facing the beach. So, you can swimm in the sea or swimming pool- it’s up to you.
The only thing I didn’t like so much was the breakfast. It was a bit poor in choices for 4* hotel. But, it was delicious. I expected more tropical fruits- mango, passion fruit, mangosteen, etc. No sausages and ham as well. Nutella spread for pancakes would be plus as well. So, all the things for breakfast were delicious, but choice was poor.

This is a difficult hotel to rate due to a mixed bag of positives and negatives, a Mercure Branded resort which on the whole we enjoyed staying at. There were some little problems that are worthy of note. Those being
1. Noise from roadside traffic can at times be very loud. (I accept the hotel can do little about this given its roadside location next to the main highway round Koh Samui). 2. Drain started to smell after a few days use - this was however rectified by staff almost immediately. 3. If mobility is an issue for you be aware that the hotel has lots of stairs and no lifts. I’m sure the hotel would accommodate people in ground floors if requested early enough. 4. Laundry prices are very very expensive and incur a 100% surcharge. A cheaper alternative is across the road.
The good points: 1. Breakfast buffet is good quality, eggs etc cooked to order. The hotel noted my partners birthday and presented us with a cake at breakfast on the morning of. Much appreciated. 2. A free shuttle bus runs into Lamai town hourly and will save you a small fortune on taxi fares. This should perhaps be advertised on the website, would reassure people put off by the distance between the hotel and town. 3. Plenty of sun loungers round the pool, shouldn’t have any issue getting one. 4. The beach the hotel is on is very quite and secluded. 5. Daily cocktails on offer and happy hour at the Nest bar. Very reasonably priced. 6. The staff are very professional and helpful, they make the stay at the hotel worthwhile.

It was an awesome time in Mercure. Direct access to the quiet beach and really helpful staff made our stay pleasant. Hotel is located far from the main crowd which make it even better, but for those who like noisy places they offer free shuttle each hour to the center of Lamai beach for free. Also you can get awesome cooking class (high quality of education) at reasonable price and you can book all your trips at Tour desk at the lobby. Also manager of the hotel fulfill all our requirements. Thanks a lot!!!

Really sorry but the website over promises! The staff are lovely so really not their fault but the rooms were not great, the road noise was awful (set up a bit like a motel) and the breakfast offer pretty rubbish too. We checked out after 1 night to go stay somewhere else as it was a special holiday and we wanted the experience want we expected. If this was marketed as a 3 star that would be fair and people would know what they were booking. If you are looking for a great 3 star in Lamai though the view of the beach is really special.

Absolutely not a resort – appalling from the smell in front of the hotel to the disgusting state of the rooms. Don’t consider if you have sight or mobility issues – lots and lots of steps and no lift.

Arrival experience was not even reach the minimum of a loyalty guest welcome. The room assigned was informed by staff that this is the best room we had to offer. The room was just okay like a normal one (no hotel chain management) but this is Accor really??
The room and property in desperately need a major renovation. The look gives hotel far older than it is in my opinion. Plus, low maintenance perhaps makes it worse.
I decided not to use the swimming pool because it did't loook clean and pleasant eventhough not many guest used it from my observant.
Last night my room was made up but it seemed it was unfinished, the used forks for previous night were still there uncleaned. How is this hotel manage to survive under the brand Mercure?? I have no clues!!
Terrible experience, not value for money at all and lastly this is the last time! Trust me if anyone ask me, i won't recommend your hotel. My point of view if you will spend this amount of money as i paid this hotel. You should be looking at iBis, lower price and i think you won't regret it or pay a little bit more, you'll be in a nicer hotels too..

On the day we arrived, we first of all noticed that was very little or no parking at all. We checked in, which was fine but considering that this is my 6th time to Thailand and all the rest of my trips to Thailand I stayed at magnificent resorts, this was far from. Just by looking at the Hotel, (as it can not be considered a resort), we noticed that it was completely different from where we usually stay. Don't be fooled by the pictures on the website. The pool is very small, the beach is rocky and stones are everywhere. The ocean is filthy. The AC is extremely unreliable. Don't waste your money!

Thank you for your review through Tripadvisor, I was a little bit surprise on some fact on the review. The size of our resort is 6,400 Sq. m. with many parking space in front of resort. Our parking lot rarely get full, more than 15 cars can be parked here. We are one of the hotel on the island that have good parking space. Also our beachfront swimming pool is very large, decorated with purple tile. If compare to other resorts in Lamai area, I'm sure that our swimming pool size is the number 1 or 2 largest.

I’ve recently got home from Mercure & Lamai
Lunch is not too bad at Mercure but turn right out of hotel and 200 metres you will see a 24/7
Toasted sandwiches 25 baht !!
It really depends on what’s your budget
I would budget £25 per couple for an evening meal in Lamai (couple of drinks & a meal)
Go to Kangaroo or Fanta restaurants
