Even though we arrived way before check-in time, the owners were very flexible with a latenight check-in. The apartment is huge and clean, the location is 2 minutes walk from the beach and the main strip of Playa de Santiago. Definetely the best choice in the area, the price is superb, staff are super friendly and will return this summer.

Spacious, well equipped apartment in the small village of Playa de Santiago.
Although located on the main street of the village no noice problems. All apartments are equipped with a private balcony. Moreover there is a large roof terrace.
La Gomera is a wonderfull island, that small that the location of a hotel/appartment is fairly indifferent (if you have a car). We love "walking by car" what is very well possible as there is only little traffic (and many curves).
Playa de Santiago is large enough to have various resaurants, although early Mai most of them were closed.

We found the apartment excellent value for money. It was immaculately clean as was the whole building and the roof terraces. There were sun loungers on the roof and views across the town to the cliffs and sea.
There was plenty of space in all of the rooms as well as a private balcony. The kitchen had 2 rings and a fridge as well as enough pots and crockery to make a full meal.
The Wi-Fi was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
For what you pay for the apartment we couldn't fault it.

We had to hire a car because it was 5 kilometers from the port but due to the mountain roads this equated to 23 kilometers !!. Once we arrived we found out they couldn't take card payments so we had to frantically find a cash machine. The area was good but everywhere was a distance away . I would recommend if you like scenery and walks.

The lady at the apartments was friendly but spoke little English. She then informed us that the credit card machine was broken. This meant a trip into town for a cash machine !!!!. Not the best start. The apartment was clean but there wasn't a kettle or microwave so we had to boil or cook everything on the 2 ring hob. The beds were twins not double and the headboards were screwed to the wall so you couldn't push them together. We had one pillow each which was rock hard and there wasn't any heating. The area was lovely but the roads can be tricky we had rockfalls high winds and rain for a couple of days. But the walks were great. If you like clean basic apartments then Marrtell is great but don't expect home from home comforts .

We are staying in apartments at the moment. There are 3 small flights of stairs up to first 3 apartments and 2 more to top two. No lift. It's quite a walk to Tecina, say 30 minutes, some of it up hill. Depends how fit one is. Several bars and restaurants near apartments. Ferry costs around 30 Euros each way, but all information is on their websites. We got a bus from San Sebastian to here costing about 3.50 Euros. Taxis are a lot more! There are apartments nearer Tecina.
