This 4-star hotel in the Felecin family for nearly 100 years is located just steps from the town’s plaza in a town of less than 2000 residents. Nino and members of his family were incredibly hospitable, making us feel very much at home, while Nino surprised us at each meal with his superb culinary skills. After some 30 visits to Italy, this hotel/restaurant in every respect is among the finest in all of Italy. Would we visit again? Of course, we would. Sonoma Tom
The location is in itself vintage Italy at its best.
The Felicin is cosy, personal, beautiful and special.
The family feeling you get there is wonderful. Some ARE the family and others are "just" part of the family and make you feel part of their family.
The food is excellent. The breakfast too. The wine cellar is of high quality and the pairing of wines to our taste and preferences were right on the money.
We are five friends and we have already booked our next visit. Unfortunately it is only in two years. We all hope we can go earlier as well.
I got to know Giorgio back then and now it is run by his son Nino. There is the same attention to detail that results in a great and wonderful experience.
Alba and the surrounding small towns are the center of what I consider the best overall combination of food and wine in the world.
The restaurant and wine list measure up to that level in all aspects.
And when it is run by a staff that is client focused as well as accommodating that makes it only more enjoyable.
As a side note the breakfast experience is also top notch with a wide selection of both sweet and savory.
Finally if one is going to Alba and the surrounding area, one might as well go in October during white truffle season. World-class all the way.
We had dinner in the restaurant on the terrasse twice, and it was excellent both times.
Service is warm and efficient, I can highly recommend this beautiful spot.
When we checked in we were shown to a twin, not a double room. When we explained it was our honeymoon we were told that the beds would not be able to be made into a double until the following day (despite it only being around 5pm). It was only when we said we would look for another hotel that a double room could be found.
The most upsetting part of our stay however was the attitude of the staff. Not even a simple 'congratulations'! The staff throughout our visit were so unfriendly and their negativity was really upsetting during what was meant to be a happy stay.
The new double room smelt badly of drains and had dogs barking throughout the night every time the church bells sounded. Two fellow guests left the hotel early for that reason. We did not complain on-site as we had only one night left and were trying to be positive but we did follow-up with a private complaint by email almost one month ago to give the owners a right to reply.
We never received a reply...
Genuinely the worst service we have ever received in Italy, avoid!
You won't be disappointed
