Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My wife and I spent 6 nights at Terry’s and it was great! This is the perfect a place to come where you can just relax and enjoy your surroundings. We didn’t feel pressured to engage in any of the activities, but they were happy to arrange a trip if we were interested.

Terry is a great cook and the portions are incredible. On our last night she cooked us fresh caught octopus, fresh fish, fresh clams and cassava.

We spoke to a couple who stayed at a nearby resort and they were complaining about how expensive the food was and how small the portions were.

Terry’s family is incredibly kind and gracious. It’s such an awesome experience to live with such a great family in such beautiful surroundings. Keep in mind this isn’t a resort (it’s 5 times less expensive than the one on the island), like others have mentioned that power is limited and so is water during the dry season.

I would recommend buying bottled water from the general store attached to the resort on the other side of the island, if you come during the dry season. While you can ask for rain water, the family sustains itself on limited rain water during the dry season and you may be depleting their limited supply.

The best part of our trip was asking Terry and Eddie about their family, culture, and Fijian history. We always long to learn more about the people we’re visiting and they were gracious enough to spend many meals talking.

Vinaka and we hope to keep in touch!

Staying with Terry and her family was amazing. I truly felt like a part of the family, and I felt closer to the Fijian culture than I ever have before. They were always happy to help me and teach me about their life! I can’t wait to return to Nanuya Lailai. I highly recommend taking advantage of their well-priced activities, especially their trip to Sawa-i-Lau caves because they take you early before anyone else gets there from the other local resorts!

Terry and the rest of her family were amazingly welcoming during my stay.

The food was excellent, the walks around the island were great and just living the island lifestyle for a few days was so refreshing.

I would highly recommend this is as an authentic Fijian homestay.

Always amazing coming back to this lovely spot ❤️.

It's located on the other side of the island which is only a small walk away from the incredible Blue Lagoon. Absolutely amazing views and amazing people to be with.

I can happily say I'll always have a special spot in my heart for Terry and her family. 🥰

I stayed 2 nights with this great family. I have very nice chat with some of the family, They explained me how is the life in the fijian islands and how they live.
Food was very nice. Always a good quality. Fishes, veggies and fruit from them own farm.
The beach was very beautiful, Its important to check if the wind comes from the east. The room with bathroom on suite was very good too. Amazing to sleep with the breeze there

We had a great time on this remote Fiji island with a true local experience. Terrys food is great and she effortlessly catered for us being vegan too.
The accommodation is simple and “real”, within a few footsteps of a beautiful safe beach and choice of walks to the other side of the island where Blue Lagoon is.
The whole family works hard to welcome guests and share their many talents from hula dancing, fire dancing, or sharing local knowledge. A wonderful experience and a slice of paradise. Highly recommend.

My experience at Terry’s home was my favorite of my whole trip to Fiji. Of all the places I stayed, it felt like the most genuine and authentic in terms of Fijian culture. She and her family are the kindest, warmest and most accommodating people who took such good care of me. I couldn’t imagine going back to Fiji without coming back to stay at Vunidaka. It really felt like I was home.

terry’s homestay is an absolutely amazing place to stay in the yasawa islands!! you absolutely need to stop here on your way through the islands ✨☀️🏝

like you, perhaps right now, i had gone through all the amazing reviews for vunidaka homestay while at home and had high hopes and expectations coming in, however this incredible spot has definitely even exceeded those expectations!

the homestay is in a truly beautiful spot nestled among the palms and with so much tropical greenery, plus of course the beach out front is truly idyllic 🤍

terry is super warm and welcoming and makes you feel at home in no time at all, and the whole family is super lovely and it’s been a pleasure to meet them all!

terry truly does make such delicious meals that many other reviews have also raved about 😍 i am vegan and terry was so accomodating in making a whole array of fantastic meals for me, which i was so grateful for 🤩 there is also rainwater for you to drink if you don’t want to bring your water, which i would really recommend 💧

just across the other side of the island is the blue lagoon beach which you can walk to easily and snorkel with so many incredible and colourful fish! 🐠 🤿 there is a small shop there and a bar attached to the resort on that side if that’s your thing too, but otherwise everything you need is at the homestay!

i was supposed to stay a week but have extended my stay since it’s such an amazing spot 🥰

vinaka vakalevu terry and all the family for having me and for opening your amazing home up to strangers so we could experience a slice of island life 💕

We booked Terry's homestay through airbnb. The one regret we had was only booking two nights! Terry and her family made us welcome from the start, offering us fresh lemon leaf tea when we arrived in the rain, a free upgrade to a bure with a private ensuite and the chance to join in the kinds of impromptu activities resorts don't offer - like searching for mudcrabs in the mangroves, kayaking and snorkelling out with Terry as she dove for octopus and an island boat tour that let us learn more about local history, current issues and land rights. The location itself is impossibly stunning - there is a beach on your doorstep and the blue lagoon a 30 minute scenic walk on the other side of the island. A highlight for us was the food and accompanying conversation - curry mud crab, octopus in lolo, fresh caught fish, eggplant and pumpkin curry, coconut roti and pancakes - often served with slices of sweet papaya and watermelon. Terry's kids were so generous with their time and talents, letting us join for a night boat ride to see them perform to a great soundtrack at the resort. We also enjoyed the downtime, playing with the children, patting the dogs, watching the sun set and the moon rise. This was definitely the highlight of my time in Fiji and I can't recommend it highly enough for a unique experience that is made truly special by a lovely family.
