Fringed by the magnificent turquoise waters of the lagoon and beautiful high peaked hills reigning over the background, this is one of Yasawa's most magnificent locations. Here you will have the opportunity to sink your feet into one of Fiji’s most glorious white sand beaches, relax in the outdoor restaurant and bar, lounge in one of the hammocks scattered, swim and snorkel in the protected marine area and even join in a game of volleyball with friendly Fijian staff. We really enjoyed our stay here; absolutely stunning setting and beautiful resort itself but the overall atmosphere and service was not as fantastic as what we had experienced at the resorts before coming here during the same trip. The attention to detail of the bungalows was great, food really good although you cannot choose, there is just one option per mandatory meal (not an issue for us, we enjoyed it) but the staff often felt a bit harsh when asking a question or needed help (ie - we rented a kayak at 4pm which very clearly annoyed the member of the team as we had to return it by 5pm and they ‚needed to close the shop‘ (not an issue for us, we knew that anyways and told them so) to the point where they wouldn‘t even help us getting down to the beach or back - we were told about a traditional dancing performance but declined to participate only to rather harshly be asked again later and then also in the morning why we didn‘t come…just a bit weird) Overall the best place for water activities we would say but the way we were handled left us with a little bit a sour taste in our mouths but maybe we were just unlucky. Would probably return and try again as setting and amenities were so wonderful.

Hotel's Favourite
Fabulous resort for a vacation. We were a three generation family of six and had the best holiday ever. We were welcomed island style with song on our arrival. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay thoroughly enjoyable for the entire time. Nothing was too much trouble. Our stay came with a compulsory meal plan. Breakfast was buffet style - homemade breads, hard boiled eggs, bacon or sausages, fresh fruit, porridge and cereals. Juice, tea and coffee. Lunch was a delicious cooked meal and dinner was a three course meal consisting of a different soup every day and a choice of two mains plus dessert. The food was island style and beautifully presented. Also freshly made cake was served at 4pm for afternoon tea everyday. We certainly didn’t go hungry. Our Ocean View bure was lovely and clean and came with a king size bed plus optional single bed; outdoor shower for rinsing off; indoor open air shower with shampoo, conditioner and body wash all supplied; plenty of hot water; verandah with outdoor seating to enjoy the view and a hammock to relax in. Towels and swimming towels all supplied. There were daily activities to enjoy - some free and some charged for. Free use of gear for snorkeling, paddle boarding and kayaking all provided. The sea was crystal clear and lovely and warm to swim in, with the coral reef accessible from the beach. The tropical gardens are beautiful and well maintained. A very relaxing and enjoyable time was had by all of us. We were all very well taken care of and the staff made us all feel special. A huge heart felt thank you to all. Vinaka❣️

Oarsman's Bay Lodge offers everything you could want for a Fiji Island getaway. Pristine white sand beaches, wonderful snorkeling reefs right off the beach, multiple excursions available, genuinely kind and friendly staff, comfortable and air-conditioned accommodations, and delicious food that caters to all diets, including my vegan diet. My friends and I stayed for five nights in two different Oceanside bures, still very close to the beach. (We met many hostel/ dorm travelers that were also happy with their dorm accommodation). Each bure had a small dorm refrigerator, an outside shower, an inside sink and toilet, comfy beds, a ceiling fan and an air conditioner. Nacula Island is one of the last stops of the Yasawa Flyer, (the ferry) but in my mind definitely worth it! My friends told me they also enjoyed their food, so I wasn't the only one! There's a breakfast buffet everyday, then lunch, a 4:00 tea & then dinner. As a vegan, I was worried about meals as meal plans at most of the Yasawa resorts are mandatory & I wasn't sure what that food would be. I can say that Oarsman's Bay Lodge delivered delicious, filling vegan food every meal for me, excluding tea time (although they did provide fruit at tea time which was awesome). Which is fine because they fed me so well during the other meals that I didn't need to snack much! (I did bring some snacks with me, but didn't need most of them except a few energy bars and some cookies I eventually ate during tea time). Seriously, if there are any vegans reading this and trying to decide which resort to pick, the vegan food at Oarsman's was filling & always delicious. There was muesli, toast, beans, stir fry and fruit at each breakfast buffet, and one day they even made me vegan pancakes. Each lunch and dinner usually looked a bit like what others were eating. Every dish was well presented, tasty & very filling. I thanked the cooks a few times I was so happy ❤️ The snorkeling was great and I went on three snorkeling excursions, plus the limestone caves. Even in the off-season I saw two manta rays, and so, so many fish! Plus some reef sharks! We did a sunrise hike, visited the local village, took part in the kava demo, and still had plenty of time for lounging. My impression is that Fijian people are very friendly; even in Nadi we'd get hearty Bulas! from strangers walking past us on the street. Our staff was no exception. They were always helpful and very kind. It was an unforgettable girls trip and I highly recommend Oarsman's Bay Lodge, it's wonderful staff and pristine setting.

We spent 3 days at Oarsman's Bay at the end of March 2024 and our experience was incredible! We stayed in a beachfront bure (#9) and it was the perfect accommodation for us as a couple. King sized bed was comfortable, air con worked great because it was very humid, lots of outdoor spaces to sit (adirondacks, hammock, loungers), mini fridge in the room, outdoor shower which we loved and of course great ocean views. The open air restaurant and shared spaces were adorable and with only 20-25 guests at any time, never felt crowded/noisy etc. It was so serene. We spent alot of time just lounging and staring at the view which was spectacular! We were unsure of what to expect with the compulsory meal package but we were not disappointed. The food was fresh and flavorful. Breakfast was a buffet style with eggs, sausage/bacon, pancakes, beans, fruit, toast, pastries etc. Lunch was a set menu but always delicious. Dinner was a chicken or fish option and again, delicious! I am gluten free and the staff always ensure a substitution was available for me at every meal - including the 4pm tea. I also am not a fan of fish and don't usually eat it, but had it twice at lunch because that was what was on the menu and it was SO good! My husband was shocked I ate it all up =) We snorkelled, kayaked, did the cultural village tour and had a massage and a facial - we recommend doing them all! We wanted to do more activities but we lost 2 days of our trip due to a flight cancellation but we heard other guests raving about the reef hopping and snorkeling trips. The staff were friendly and attentive and we really could not have asked for anything more. After leaving Oarsman's Bay we stayed at a resort on the main island and it was so underwhelming in comparison to our experience at Oarsman's! We definitely plan to return very soon!

We stayed 5 days in Burre 11, which looked to be the largest offering small kitchenette , living sauce and bedroom w AC. The best part was the large covered deck out front w chairs which provided a great retreat for us when it rained. The view from here was directly out on the ocean w a clear sunset view. We also had two Lounge chairs we positioned out on the beach under the trees which was wonderful. The staff were excellent and friendly. Most activities weee chargeable and more expensive than Coconut Beach resort we stayed at before our stay at OB. Diving provided by Blue Lagoon next door, which was 165 FD a dive. Great fish dinners were provided a the option of chicken if fish wasn’t your thing. We found the food very good for dinners deserts not so much, lunch and breakfasts were acceptable. There is a wonderful coral reef that is directly in front Blue Lagoon that was a highlight. Great hiking trail up the mountain behind for fantastic lookout. Overall we would return to OB and would recommend it to others

The food was below average and needed improvement with flavour and variety, meals weren’t worth the set price. The accomodation was tight for 3 adults and housekeeping didn’t replenish with fresh towels etc. unfortunately some of the staff didn’t seem forthcoming, however the resort has a beautiful beach and the water is pristine. Snorkeling is great around the island and it’s very relaxing.

Response from Mereisi Togakai, General Manager at Oarsman's Bay Lodge
Responded 1 week ago
Bula, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We appreciate your positive comments on our beautiful location, the beach, and snorkeling which is accessible and not charged as the snorkeling equipment is complimentary for all our guests. We have gone through all of your other feedback, and we would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge these and also clarify for our future guests the points that may be subjective. We note that you stayed in our Beachfront Studio Room, this room can accommodate two persons only. We have also seen that your original booking was for a Beachfront Studio Room for two persons only and a Dorm for a third person. We then received a message where you insisted that you needed all three of you to be accommodated in the Studio Beachfront Room, and an oversight on our part this request of yours was unfortunately accepted. As rightly mentioned, the room is not meant to be for three persons, and the sole reason for the discomfort during your stay. We have always taken pride in our housekeeping team and the due diligence taken in the cleanliness of the inside and outside and garden areas of each room. As well as the nightly turndown service provided for all guest rooms in the evenings whilst guests are at dinner. We are at a loss with your comments on room towels not being replenished for the 2 nights that you stayed with us. The team has advised that your towels were replenished twice after being brought to their attention. For further clarification for our future guests, all our linens and towels are professionally laundered at the main Island in Nadi, and so at a minimum, the linens are changed after the second night or the third morning. We again appreciate your subjective feedback on the meals and the Meal Plan at FJ$129pp/per day. This generous Meal Plan includes a hot continental breakfast, a main dish for lunch, an afternoon tea that includes freshly baked tea cakes and fresh fruits, a 3-course set menu and an all-day tea, and a coffee station with fresh ginger, lemons, and honey condiments. For our future guests, our local chefs take pride in the meals that are served, our signature dish is the showcasing of the Island flavors in the local catch that we receive from the local villagers, which will consist mainly of fresh rock cod, coral trout, white and red snapper. We noted that you thoroughly enjoyed the basket weaving with Pete and on check out thanking him for his time. We appreciate your lengthy talks with Ana on Oarsman's on the improvements that have been made since you last stayed. Thank you again and we do hope that you have found the hotel that is well suited for you. Vina Du Riki. From the Oarsman's Team.

We arrived at Oarsman’s Bay by helicopter on a wet and windy day in March. Despite the weather the welcome was wonderful our bags were carried to the Beach Bure and umbrellas provided. We heard guitar music and singing, a welcome song, which during our 7 day stay, we heard everyday there was an arrival of further guests. It was amazing and set the tone of the whole experience of Oarsman’s Bay Lodge. We felt relaxed straightaway, we had beach front Bure no 1 with a lovely bed and bathroom area and outside a shower with an open roof, it was all so beautiful and totally what I had expected. During our stay we went on several excursions, to the Sawa-I-Lau caves, a fishing trip and my husband did the reef hopping excusion. All of these were great value for money and very enjoyable. I have to say the one thing that makes this place is the staff, they are wonderful, hardworking, kind and caring. Lucy was just amazing from making sure I had gluten free food at every meal to dressing my leg multiple times, when I injured it on a kayak, also Una was also there at meal times checking my gluten bread arrived always addressing us by our names. I had a two massages with Luisa they were amazing I felt so relaxed the best massages I’d ever had and again such a lovely member of staff who took photos of us as we made our baskets. We really enjoyed the Lovo evening and Fijian dancing again everything was perfect, this place truly is paradise. We were so sad to leave but the goodbye song was again wonderful guitars the voices harmonising, we had tears in our eyes. All the male members of staff who man the boats were great not sure of all their names but again just so willing to help and make our stay an unforgettable experience. Also Nina and Ana another two staff members who make this place what it is. If you want to visit Fiji and experience true beauty, white sands, blue sea and the best Fijian welcome you could wish for then go to Oarsman’s Bay you won’t regret it it will stay in our memory for many years ….. Thank you so much for making our holiday experience amazing.

Positives Lovely peaceful spot beautiful location. Spa and Louisa in particular was wonderful. Cons: Paying extra for beachfront wasn’t worth it, we felt some of the other rooms had easier access. A bit of finesse is required, our air conditioning unit was stuck together with a band aid! The rooms feel very dated, some might call it rustic! The meal plan might not work for everyone, it’s wholesome homemade food. There’s no ambience at dinner, some background music would be nice. In summary don’t expect luxury, you will get stunning views and it will be very peaceful but if you need luxury and entertainment maybe go elsewhere.

The hotel was very nice as well as the staff. The food always had some sort of meat in it (lunch and dinner) which such gets very boring after 3 days… If you get an extra bed for your bure be prepared to sleep on the hardest mattress you’ve ever experienced The spa is the best thing about the whole resort - Luisa does such an amazing job at everything!! We were so impressed by her lovely personality and her skills ☺️

Magical and serene. Everything was perfect but an exceptional shoutout to the staff and the best spa experience by Louisa. She is phenomenal and I find it incredible that the best massage I have ever had was on the remote Island of Nacula in Fiji…. Vinadu Bill Schmidt
