There are 2 beaches available but both are down long flights of steep stairs. The beaches are stony and sun beds are expensive. This made the lack of a pool at the hotel an issue. We used the sun deck on the roof most days. Only 6 sun beds available but we always managed to get 2 . There is a shower to cool off, but it would be good if there was a small bar up there.
During our stay the bar was unmanned most of the time. You helped yourself to beers, wine, soft drinks and coffees and wrote down what you had taken on a sheet of paper. This was added to your bill at the end of your stay along with the tourist tax of €3.50 per person per day.
The drinks terrace had stunning views of the bay and over to mainland Italy. There were similar views from the dining room.
Breakfast was buffet style and sometimes they were slow at topping up all the items. Hot items were scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, vegetables and a quiche. There was also the usual selection of cold meats, cheeses, cereals etc. I wasn’t keen on the fruit juices - pineapple, pear and orange which was very dark.
We were in room 308 with no balcony, but a view of the sea if you leant out of the window. Average size room, comfortable beds and sufficient storage.
The shower was strong but not very high on the wall - could be an issue for a tall person.
There is a lift from the roadside to reception and then a further lift up to the rooms.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Overall a good base for exploring Taormina.
The highlight of the hotel is the view and location, very close to the cable car to the nice area of the town.
Beaches are nice with amazing views, but at the end of the day you have to return to the box room.
The website photos only show the nice rooms at the front of the hotel and the beaches they overlook, what it doesn't show you is the naughty corner at the back of the hotel, the dreaded room 310....
As you can see from the photos you have an amazing view of the fire escape, once you have found your way to the secluded corner of the room to open and peer out of the windows.
Also you should notice the TV in the room, it's the black box next to the wardrobe, blink and you will miss it.
Breakfast might as well be first come first serve, eggs were cold and the bacon was no existence but the staff were very freindly.
All being said the views are amazing and makes you want to get out of the box room and explore the amazing town and landscape.
Rooms 1
Very outdated room, screen on an airplane felt bigger than the TV.
WiFi is touch and go.
Very small space and no natural light. Bathroom has no lock, shower is tiny and trickles out.
If you want to run a bath best start it in the morning ready for lunchtime.
Food and drinks 2
Only had breakfast and was cold all 3 mornings of our stay, best get up and book an early slot otherwise you are picking up the scraps after the first 2 Services.
Drinks are nice but feels awkward having to walk to reception to have to pay for them.
Hotel view 5
Great view from the reception area or on the top floor.
Overall the hotel is very good located near the cable car to Taormina and a good local bus stop 1.90 euro per person plus other excursions like the hop on hop off bus, local mini market shops. Restaurants in the area are generally good but you can walk up to Issobella along to you right from the hotel up the hill where there some good restaurants.
The rooms were clean and comfortable as were the communal spaces. The view from the verandas is stunning and the hotel is so well located for the beach and local curiosity, Isola Bella. The cablecar to Taormina was not working but there was a replacement bus service for just over a euro. We walked up to Taormina several times, which is possible with a reasonable level of fitness. We even walked up to Castelmola one day after getting the bus to Taormina (although there is a bus if you don't have the fitness required). The views of the dramatic landscape are exceptional from up there with Mount Etna dominating the skyline.
I would certainly recommend this hotel to others and would stay again.
Service is kept to a minimum, lack of knowledge about the area and how to avoid tourist traps, and they are everywhere...
Dirty area with lots of litter spread all over the territory.
Overpriced and a typical tourist trap...
Carpark is of difficult access but a major plus on a super crowded area. Taormina is a mini Disneyland, not to be visited again!

"Lovely restaurants outside of this hotel, beach is within a very short walking distance, Isola Bella is also only a few meters away "Read full review
