(Also in English below) It is a family inn, also suitable for 'romantic' stays, in a very small typical village, in a calm and relaxing atmosphere and with a breathtaking view. The sofa by the fireplace, the very comfortable rooms with very good quality bedding including 'child' beds, the restaurant with half board or not, succulent dishes and wines at very reasonable prices far away the excesses of certain resort restaurants... The 'locals' and the surrounding villages know and recognize the quality of this establishment and its restaurant where they go to eat and spend warm and festive moments. This inn reflects the image of its owner Virginie and her team: wonderful, rare, warm, welcoming, attentive to the well-being of each of their customers... Virginie: you are an exceptional person and you make (and will continue to make) your hostel a 'magical' place where we feel very good, a bit like we were family... for all that: thank you , thanks thanks... --------- It is a family inn, also suitable for 'romantic' stays, in a very small typical village, in a calm and relaxing atmosphere and with a breathtaking view. We are a family of five that just visited this wonderful family driven hotel for skiing in Alpe d’Huez. We got so positively surprised both by the awesome food, the cozy dinner hall with a fireplace and games and the lovely clean, big room - but mostly by the warm welcome we got from the family who owns the hotel. It is the sweetest family that goes beyond and above anything we asked for, always with a big smile. It is like staying with some of your good friends, and they will help with anything possible. The food is French when it is best, and we enjoyed every minute of the four nights we stayed there. It is a bit tricky to find by car and it is placed in quite hilly surroundings. We drove every morning the three minutes to Auris where we rented skies and right outside the ski store is a lift that can take you to Alpe d’Huez, for those interested in skiing in perfect surroundings. We have skied all over the world but have never stayed a place with such a special, warm family atmosphere. We will be back next year! Thanks for taking such good care of our family and for making us feel special and at home!

The reviews in this listing seem to be from before the current owner took over about three years ago. So this review is for the wonderful current owner and staff.
What a find! The setting and views are outstanding. The room is comfortable and clean. We had half board and the meals were delicious, prepared by a professional chef. Everything was perfect.

The Auberge de la Forêt is located in a small hamlet a few minutes from the Auris station, a station integrated into the Alpes d'Huez ski area. This place is quiet, relaxing and has a shaded terrace with a magnificent view. The rooms are nicely decorated in the mountain spirit, the bedding and bathrooms are recent and of high quality. The beautiful vaulted room of the restaurant has a large fireplace with a sofa, an ideal place for family games or aperitifs with friends. The catering, beautifully presented, is excellent both with half-board and à la carte with a very good choice of wines. Don't hesitate to try the different mountain specialties on offer (fondues, raclettes, etc.) and for chocolate lovers, I recommend the Royal Chocolat! The breakfast buffet is plentiful and unlimited. We cannot describe this inn without mentioning Virginie, the owner. His welcome, his smile, his naturalness, his dynamism, his good humor, his passion to make your stay unforgettable, add a soul to this exceptional place which makes it a rare place to absolutely know!
