To be honest I was dreading the holiday a little after reading the reviews after I had booked , but I was pleasantly surprised. The Chalet had just been revamped so everything was new inside , carpets ,utensils etc. it was lovely and spacious. Although it could do with a towel rail in the bathroom as there was no where to hang one. The pool was clean and never really too busy . The site is getting a total make over so you do have the bear this in mind. The staff members were all lovely, helpful and friendly. They would do anything to help and all of them had smiles on their faces all the time.
The aqua attack activity could do with having more water pistols as there were only 2 for a group of 6 kids so there were arguments fighting over them. We have rebooked again for next year as intrigued to see how much would have changed and also for the price it’s not bad.

We booked 2 camping pitches here on the stanwix site. Unfortunately after putting up our tent in the rain, we discovered it was leaking badly! Reception staff were really helpful and found us a dog friendly caravan at short notice, discounting the price we had already paid.
The site is lovely and clean with plenty going on for families. The shop is well stocked and the food we had from the cafe was hot and tasty.
We didn't visit the bar in the evening but it has all the usual entertainment and kids clubs.
Lovely location, Silloth itself is beautiful.
We will definitely be back!

We’ve just had a fantastic Monday to Friday break at Solway, as a family of 6 we do sometimes find it hard to cater for all our children but Silloth took us back to basics. We’ve walked along the prom , watched the sun set and skimmed stones into the sea. We spent the morning in Allonby and ate delicious ice cream, the West Beach is a nice place to walk to from the park.

On the park as others have stated the investment in the park is quite unseen, I was told a lot of it was ground works but the new changing room, arcade and restaurant are all to a lovely standard and very clean.

We went to the pool one morning, it only has capacity for 50 . It is a dated area with a 1m depth but perfectly functional and Matt the manager in there was making sure the headcount was being checked regularly to ensure people were not having too much of a wait after us.

The staff on site are attentive and very visible. We took part in the birds of prey and laser tag activities. Keith at the birds of prey is very passionate about his birds and it shows through in his talk. His enthusiasm for falconry was great and he really engaged all of us the whole time.

Nell and Kitty supervised laser tag and made the game fair and the kids really enjoyed the way it had been set up in the tree clearing. I can imagine this gets a bit boggy when wet but would add to the fun.

We ate one night at the restaurant , the food was nice , hot and was served quickly. The cost of a main was Approx £14 - £15 and a pint of Madri was £5.20. For a place with a captive audience we felt this was reasonable. Lois, Owen and Scott who worked in the restaurant were very polite and made sure we got everything we needed.

All in all there pros and cons with every place you go to, we would definitely return to Solway

If you are thinking of camping on this site don’t bother. The pitches are in shocking condition, there is no camp etiquette with people shouting to their camp members early morning, car alarms going off and dogs yapping.
The toilet blocks although new looking aren’t cleaned often enough (make sure you take your own toilet paper) oh and the shower block had no hot water, had to get redressed and walk back to my flooded camp to phone reception and inform, they did remedy the problem fairly quickly.
Ate in the restaurant and the food was good just takes a while to catch a staff members eye to reorder drinks as she seemed more interested in looking on her phone.
The entertainment was great if you had kids but good look getting a seat snd good luck getting in the pool too.
Lovely town, lovely walks and lovely locals. Wouldn’t recommend camping there tho unless it was in a chalet.

Currently at the park and leaving tomorrow. We are in the tourers camp area. This situated at the back of the camp, out of the way. It's very muddy and not all pitches are accessible. The showers and toilets block is very new but it is only checked once a day. In the current situation with a packed camping area and only one wash/toilet block this is not adequate. Floors are filthy and no toilet roll, take your own. I have not had a shower as the floors in there are filthy.
I can't comment on the activities offered as although dogs are welcome on the park they aren't actually allowed in anywhere which meant us having to sit outside and although there is a covered courtyard it is too cold.
It appears there is a wait to use the pool whereas once full you have to wait until someone comes out and no one knows when that's going to be.
We ate from the chippy. My partners food was lovely but my fish was burnt and the gravy was cold. I was ill later into the night.
There is a cement works towards the rear of the camping grounds which begins loud banging at 6am in the morning and continues all day.
The rest of the camp has some really nice parts and some suspect looking parts so check your accommodation before paying.

We booked here for a weeks camping holiday been seasonal campers the weather doesn’t bother us however on arrival here we were told which pitches to avoid but what reception should of said was avoid all pitches. We got stuck and a local had to tow us out we ended up camping in a area we were told to avoid as it was partial Concrete which took a while to pitch a tent on but we managed having the correct pegs ect. The rain never stopped the whole time we were there which is not a problem as we have a tent that can cope but the ground was a issue we could t walk in The tent for the water and stones under the tent there was no drainage at all on the whole site and there was just no where for the water to go other than in pools on the field. This doesn’t happen on none commercial sites as they have adequate drainage. We left after 3 days due to this mainly but that was just the top of the experience. The site was in off peak times no problem but they are closing everything early so could see or do anything on site. The amusements staff were dam right rude the one time we played in there our money got stuck in machine so told the girl who nodded her head and I though ok your with customers I’ll come after but no as soon as she was finished she picked up her phone and was on that so I went over again and asked politely for it to be sorted in which case she still didn’t say anything came to machine counted the change out and slammed it on table. Sorry did I do something wrong I do t think so! Every where in the main faculties area is just blocked of areas full of rubbish. The whole place needs a good clean a tidy. We had one night in the bar where we had to move several times for smell of sick. I will say the though the girl who sang in there was amazing and specially it must have been demoralising as o my handful of people in there. The toilets were I’m disgusting everywhere we had the best on the camping field however they were newly built. They do need to be finished off a bit thought shelves in showers would be helpful and pegs to hang clothes on and couple of sick to clean your teeth as you had to go to separate block to toilets to find a sink. Why anyone would buy a caravan or Swazi al pitch on there must be mad there so much better out there. There is nothing in the village unless you want to eat or drink but would recommend fairy emporium for food and the staff were exception truly magical place. We will not be back and shame this happened and we cut our holiday short by half but we will learn from it. Solway you need to make major improvements before you loose business all together

Booked weeks ago requested adjacent pitches arrive an hour before check in to be told they were over booked and they couldn’t offer us adjacent pitches told at booking allocated on arrival but on arrival was told we should have requested this at booking, so they told granddaughters to park in a random grassed area rough un cut grass, we complained and said this just wasn’t acceptable surely our pitches should be ready for our arrival! The pitch we were told to drive onto we found was so water logged our front end literally sank into the ground up to our axles and we needed to be dragged out. Not happy campers went to reception very helpful staff full refund offered granddaughters couldn’t put awning up ground just like a bog.
Showers new and looked amazing but toilets were out of use no hand drying facilities hand dryers already broken which is very sad that they have been miss used already, kids unsupervised just running about emptying toilet rolls all over the floor very disrespectful we felt sorry for the staff who constantly trying to clean up. Entertainment had staffing problems only 1 bar person serving average wait time at the bar was 35 minutes it was packed!
Until major improvements we won’t be back in a hurry reception staff very apologetic and couldn’t be anymore helpful then they were.

We arrived to a chalet, not a caravan as we expected so were pleasantly surprised. Full size rooms, separate kitchen even a bath. A welcome pack in the kitchen with tea bags, coffee, sugar and milk, together with a tea towel, sponge, wipe and washing up liquid.

Pack of soaps and shampoo in the bathroom. Lovely.

However, although we arrived to full sunlight the lounge area was dark and dismal, three good size windows, but it was at the back surrounded by trees. The only light you had was from the electric one. So depressing.

On the Sunday I went to reception to check where to leave the key as I was leaving in the morning before reception opened. All very pleasant, they asked me if there were any problems and I said yes no daylight.

When asked if I had said anything at the beginning my response was no, as if they knew about the problem and they had other units they would not have used this one. Obviously I was mistaken as supposedly some people like the unit like that ???

Would not recommend or go again.

Been coming to solway a few times a year for many years. I admit the place was tired and needed a revamp, but the caravan was always spotless and comfortable. The staff in the bar were incredible and as it was dog friendly attracted a lot of dog owners. We visited this week a week after it reopened. My mother had experienced a stroke a few weeks ago so we requested an accessible caravan that was dog friendly. First impressions when we arrived was positive, however we were told there were no dog friendly areas anymore. When we arrived at the caravan we immediately noticed lots of areas that needed attention. The ignite button on the oven wasn’t working, door handles were hanging off and a cupboard door wouldn’t shut. These may sound minor to some, but as an accessible caravan these needed attention. My mum walked into the cupboard door numerous times due to poor vision following her stroke. Also, as the on-site shop wasn’t open we had to go back into Silloth to buy a lighter to light the cooker. (Who wants to put their head in an oven to light it?) these were reported the next day and nothing was done about any of them. Sadly this was the worst break we had in Silloth and we will not be returning again.

Believe this place has just been taken over and further money is being injected into it through winter and so alot of the recommendations will be rectified in next couple of years. We stayed in a chalet with hot tub, chalet was OK but very basic, could have done with bedside lights in master bedroom, TV in bedrooms, a bit more character in decor ( not very homely), shoe rack perhaps in cupboard and maybe a hairdryer. The hot tub was great, kept warm and clean. Would have been nice to have a small built in area for a bbq or a least a slab on the grass to place one.
The park itself needs a fair bit of revamping. An area which I think needs mass improvements for those with kids are the pool and outside Park. Pool as it is, is small and featureless, several occasions kids had to que for an hour to get in. The outdoor park looks really run down, with overgrown weeds etc... a large park with decent flooring and a larger variety of equipment needed, those large air pillows would be ideal here.
Needs to be more choice of things to do that is lower in price, ie. Crazy golf.
You can see the areas that have been revamped, which looks to be the main reception area and statics. Touring definitely needs hard stand for campers, shame that the dumping ground for park is also visible for touring part. Although the new looking washrooms for this area look very modern, clean and snart.
We will probably return in next couple of years to this sight, I do think it's a tad too expensive for what you get at the moment. Know they have to name money but charging for WiFi should most definitely be included in the price !!! What I would say though is that the staff are really a credit to this place. Kevin who took the axe throughing was so chatty and really made the experience. The young lass with long dark blonde/brown coloured hair who took the zorbing was lovely and very helpful and also the staff in the restaurant were very attentive and helpful especially our main server who was a young lass with long dark brown hair.
In all, we enjoyed our break, like I said still a lot of improvement needed but keep your staff and look after them, and I can see this park being great in the future.

They are fenced but some don’t have a gate and therefore are not enclosed as such. I’d call Simone who is responsible for holiday bookings and ask to get a Chalet that is fully enclosed.
