Detailed Reviews
Stayed 3 nights at Village Du Lac in our campervan.
No problems finding the place or checking in.
Receptionist was very good, we are Scottish but with a reasonable command of a French. All the info provided was easy to follow.
We were early for check in but walked around the site to check on pitches.
Found a good one, almost level with a pond view.
Electric hook up worked no problem, water tap next to pitch.
Toilet and shower block clean and tidy and warm.
Maybe pitches could be levelled and laid with firmer bigger gravel.
Grey and black water facilities good enough for the purpose and only a short walk from the pitches for black water dumping.
Shop was decently stock but a bit expensive.
We walked from the site to the tram stop next to the Matmut Stade. Took about 15 minutes to walk.
Got the tram into Bordeaux from there to Quinconces which is next to the Tourist Information Office.
If there for a couple of days, suggest getting a 10 trip tram ticket which is sufficient for 2 people for two days.
We walked a lot in Bordeaux as there’s a lot to be seen.
Would stop at Village du Lac again.

Easy check-in with clear Covid-19 instructions at the entrance (masks/distance/sanitiser). Allowed to choose our own pitch and found a large pitch which suited us for a motorhome with awning.
Pitch was perfect in good weather, but sandy surface could be an issue in winter.
Plenty of sanitary facilities, modern but a bit basic. The whole site is clean and tidy!
Pool area with sun beds and a separate kids playground beside.
Restaurant on site appears to cater to more expensive tastes, but there is also a snack/pizza hut with take out.
Small shop which provides any necessities. Friendly and helpful guy working in the shop. Laundry facilities were very good and easy to use.
For us, this was all about the location: you can take public transport nearby, but we cycled in to Bordeaux - mainly cycle paths and approx 8km with no big hills, perfect. We would return.

We spent 5 nights here booked prior to traveling. the greeting on arrival we very good and friendly and in well spoken english which save me struggling with my limited French. we were given a map and told to take any pitch that was empty. Now i accept that it is Feb/March and there has been a lot of rain over a considerable time but the majority of the pitches were a quagmire some inaccessible and others once on not getting out without a toe. some had some hard packed gravel but they were not much better. You had no idea if anyone was already using a pitch or not. finally we found one and took a chance no-one was due to return. The electrical hook up pylon was rotten and the connecting box was only held by the cable not inspiring confidence in plugging in safely. Water to pitch was off (winter, fair enough) though on same pylon as electricity so pipe is probably shot.
There seemed quite a lot of commercial staying and at times seemed antagonistic. Probably a concern for any women traveling. The shower and toilet facilities are ok and cleaned regularly but could do with some TLC and something to get rid of the prevailing smell of drains in the showers. Underfloor heating is nice. Pick you shower i trio one and never did get any hot water out of it.
On site restaurant was disappointing although the staff were pleasant and friendly, My food was luke warm due to being on a stone cold plate. and if asked how you like your meat at least do it that way. If we hadn't had such a long day i probably would have sent it back and argue about it but i couldn't be bothered.
Transport links into Bordeaux are excellent and frequent. I would recommend the €3 journey pass each day worked really well for us.
I would like to think this site would get much better in the summer but i feel the issues would be masked by the sunshine.
Great people shame about the rest. Overpriced.

We stayed in one of the small cabins. It was perfect for two adults and a child.
We got a taxi from the airport to the camp. It's about 20 mins and cost 40 euros (pre booked online with Tele Taxis) You can get a train to the city and back out to the camp but we went for ease over cost.
The camp is well laid out and easy to get around. There are enough activities to warrant spending a couple of days just at the camp.
If I had a slight niggle it would be that if you dont drive, the nearest supermarket is a couple of bus rides away (the onsite shop is ok for basics but not enough for proper meals). Make sure you order your baguette and croissants from the shop the night before and you can collect in the morning.
The restaurant has excellent food (and wine) and is great as a treat but too expensive for eating there every day.
Bordeaux is a beautiful city with lots to do. It so easy to get to from the camp. You can get a bus from right outside the camp. A 5 min ride brings you to the tram stop and then just a 15 min journey into the centre of the city.
If you download the TBM app you can buy a weekly pass for the bus, tram and river bus. It's very reasonable and makes travel to and around the city so easy.
Overall I would highly recommend he camp for it's great location and friendly staff. Perfect for a family for a 5 day break.

We chose the site for its position as we wanted to visit Bordeaux, it is ideal for cycling into the city.
We arrived on Saturday afternoon to find the sanitary block was filthy & the rubbish bins overflowing. We tried to have dinner in the Restaurant but it was booked for a private party, so off to town we cycled. When we returned in the evening it was still the same so we were not very impressed. Sunday morning no difference, I took a hose pipe in to wash the a shower cubicle before we used it.
I asked at reception why they were not cleaning them and they said it was difficult because the site was full ( but they still expect us to pay full price) and they were short staffed.
Monday morning was the same so I asked to speak with the manager who was completely disinterested, he said he didn’t have a cleaning team. I suggested as he is the manager he could do it himself, he wasn’t too impressed with that suggestion.
Also the two pitches we were allocated were like a building site with hardcore on the ground and hedges that hadn’t been cut all season.
So all thought we had a lovely time in Bordeaux which I can recommend, Yelloh Village was not a good experience.
We live in France and use French campsites a lot and know that the standards are usually very good, so Yelloh Village have got something wrong, maybe they need to sac the manager.

Pitches are uneven, sandy with weeds growing everywhere, signs put out saying “Warning, ground liable to sink. Water taps to pitches are locked off and you need to pay €5 to fill up. Restaurant is adhoc and opens periodically. Overall, the site is very tired and needs some serious investment.

Tossed up between 3 and 4 stars, because although it’s a good site, it fell a little short of our expectations of the Yelloh Village standard. Our site was a good sized, shady pitch, but unfortunately it was right beside a sewer point and as there is a shortage of chemical toilets in the park, we had the unpleasant experience of people using the sewer point to empty their toilets. One motor home pulled in to discard their waste water. Furthermore, the best equipped amenities block was quite a distance from our site, and the nearest one was used by people around the pool, so was never really clean while we there. In general, the amenities were not cleaned as regularly as many of the sites we’ve stayed in, and even at 7.30 am, I was unable to find a shower in the main block that had been cleaned after use. On the positive side, the site has a really good pool area, a restaurant and bar, and a supermarket that stocks all the basics. Access to Bordeaux is easy; by bus and then tram.

I couldn’t have put it better than Malcolm L did. The best things about this site are the Wi-Fi & the bus service to Bordeaux.
We paid our €5 for 200 litres of water according to reception - the water flow cut off before our 130 litre tank was full. If you want to empty your toilet cassette, a further €1 is required to rinse it. It would appear that Yelloh Bordeaux do not want campers here.
This our 3rd visit, first since Yelloh took over. We won’t be back!

Very clean and well kept. Good service. Not too big. Wash facilities very new and the grounds are well kept. There's not much immediately in the vicinity but public transport looks decent. Watch out - they charge 5 euros for half a tank of water for Motorhomes and 1 euro to rinse the sanitary cartridge

If you are intending to travel to Bordeaux for the wine and tourist sites, and wish to stay at a near by campsite, you cannot choose better than Village Du lac. Connected by a excellent tram service to the centre of Bordeaux, this modern campsite allows tents, caravans and has static 5* huts. The service is excellent and the amenities are extensive, swimming pool, play ground, restaurant and a shop for food and fresh bread. Electricity on site and BBQ positions are also available. highly recommended.

Check out Google, looks like 20 mins n a taxi, c. €30.
Looks quite a lengthy process on public transport (and maybe looks worse than it actually is) but much cheaper. There is a bus stop directly outside the campsite.
I’d call the campsite and see what they recommend.
Yes. Staff will give very good advice.
Bonjour,
