Detailed Reviews
The apartments are kept spotlessly clean and have everything you need, including a spacious private terrace for each apartment. The pool area is very well kept with sun loungers set out socially distanced and also a little pool bar serving drinks and snacks in the day time. There is also a very handy mini mart selling essentials and ice creams etc. There are hand sanitiser stations outside the lifts on every floor and all around the reception and bar. The whole place felt very clean and a lot of effort has clearly been made to keep people safe. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The apartments have lovely views over the hills and bay area and are conveniently located for bars, restaurants, shops and supermarkets. The air con was much appreciated too. Great place and would definitely recommend. Thanks for a very comfortable stay!

Stayed here for 11 nights in Sept 21. These apartments are excellent the hotel itself is in a great location for walking down to the centre, although not suitable for the less mobile. Reception manager Georgio is very friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble, cleaners attend daily apart from Sunday's and Tuesday's. Very clean lovely pool area and Heriberto who runs the pool bar is friendly and helpful, and does all the cooking and serving with a smile on his face! We spent many an afternoon there with friends and chatting. I would definitely recommend staying here the rooms are spacious and perfect for what you need with aircon and free wifi. Well done to all the staff for all their hard work are you soon.

Stayed here 27 Jul - 3 Aug, 3 adults. We had a 2 bed apt on floor 5. Both rooms had twin beds with huge wardrobe space. The air con only worked in one room but if you leave all doors open it gets cool. There is a terrace at the front with table, chairs and 2 sun loungers. This is quite open and everyone can see you. There is also a terrace at the back with 2 chairs, a small table and a shower!! The shower was perfect for the heat and totally secluded. The kitchen has everything needed for self catering - microwave, kettle, full size fridge freezer and all utensils. Pull out bed and TV in living room, very spacious. Power shower in bathroom. Maids come daily, except Sunday. All staff are really friendly. The breakfast was good at the bar which closed at 4:30. There was always plenty of loungers at the pool, which is quite shallow. The location isn't great. It is a taxi ride up to the Europa Centre, far too steep to walk. We tried it only once. You can walk down to the commercial centre, 212 steps, but again too steep to walk back up. There is nothing in the vicinity of the hotel, so you need to venture out for supplies. We preferred down the hill where there is a Spar next to Mogan Mall. Sunspot in the commercial centre is best for drinks, €1.50 a pint with nightly entertainment and Murphy's Kitchen for a jumbo breakfast! A lot was closed due to the coronavirus but we still had a great time, all the people are so friendly. I imagine Puerto Rico is a brilliant holiday place if everything was open, just too hilly for us.

I would have preferred to give this 4 stars, but felt it's not quite worth it.
We very much enjoyed the hotel itself. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the cleaners do an excellent job, sometimes spending well over half an hour cleaning an apartment.
The staff maintain the mask thing, as it's in their interests, as does everyone who works in the resort, but it's not pushed on you so much if you don't.
The mini mart only opens for a couple of hours and the pool bar only stays open from about 8 till 4pm.
The rooms are pretty good for Puerto Rico standards and things are pretty much up to date, with adequate cooking facilities if you want to do your own cooking.
A TV is provided, but we didn't see a single English channel not even BBC News.
Wifi is mostly adequate, but it regularly struggled when it came to even low quality video, which seemed strange, given that each room had it's own login credentials.
The balcony doors are very secure. They automatically lock on sliding closed, requiring a card to open from the outside. They're also the heaviest, most robust balcony doors I've ever felt too. They're the only way in and out, so if security is a big thing for you, it's top notch.
There's no entertainment and the whole resort was only operating at around 30% capacity.
Downsides?
Well, now we're getting on, we felt it was a bit out of the way. It's easy enough walking down, but given it hit 36c on a couple of days, even that felt like hard work. For younger people it's not a problem and to clarify, if you know the resort, it's pretty much in the middle of the CC and the Europa centre.
Of course, taxis are cheap, but be prepared to wait for a considerable length of time. We waited about 40 mins in the middle of the day more than once, at the main taxi rank. From what I heard, they're rationing the work because of the reduced demand, but it seems they've gone too far.
We can recommend the hotel itself, no problem, but nowadays we want something a bit better situated.

We booked this holiday 2 weeks before leaving and we weren’t too sure what to expect. This was my first time in Gran Canaria and the first time self catering!
When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised, the apartment complex was spotlessly clean, quite small, with very friendly staff. The apartment had a large terrace overlooking the pool, resort and the sea which was perfect to relax on with drinks. The room is basic but clean with everything you need. I was not impressed with how there was 2 separate single beds in the bedroom and the brown theme wasn’t exactly modern, but that was my only real gripe.
Rooms were cleaned each day except Sunday and Tuesday. Towels were changed, however bedding was not changed all week.
The pool area is excellent, as it was a small complex with around 50 rooms, we never had any issues with getting sun beds no matter what time of the day it was. The pool itself is quite small and shallow but that is all you need to cool off in. We spent most days on the terrace above the pool bar, it was like having a private area. We often visited the pool bar for lunch which was reasonably priced. Happy hour is from 3:30 and 2 large beers were 3.80€. The bar man was friendly and was there every day, making drinks, food and cleaning all by himself.
As mentioned in almost all the other reviews, the hotel is close to the resort centre down a steep flight of stairs. It was exhausting and I’m a healthy 26 year old, my calves have never been so big! I would not recommend the walk for anyone with mobility problems, most days we walked around 15,000 steps around the resort and up and down hills and stairs. The main shopping centre was around a 5 minutes walk down and the beach was around 15 minutes for us to walk to.
If you need to get supplies for your room, there is a small, basic shop in a neighbouring apartment complex, if what you want is not there then you’ll need to walk down the stairs to the next shop.
The resort itself was a mix, quite tired and dated on the whole, however, it is becoming modernised. The shopping centre had plenty of restaurant's and bars but be prepared to be harassed outside each of them at dinner time tying to get you in. Outside one bar, I was almost man handled into going into it! After that, we spent most of our evenings at the new Mogan Mall, a short walk away, there are many brands and designer labels and some fabulous restaurants such as the Taj Palace and Vinci’s Italian. We also had some fantastic cocktails at the Tipsy Bee opposite the Mall.
We had a lovely holiday at the Rocamar and I’m glad we went but don’t think I’ll be returning to Puerto Rico again soon as it wasn’t for me.

Going to Rocamar has become like home from home for us, and was lovely to find after 2 years this was still the case.
The shop and pool bar have reopened and with welcoming staff, both provide you with the necessities to make your stay comfortable. And housekeeping work hard to keep the place looking wonderful.
We found that as expected the hotel was quieter then previous holidays. however people are returning and Puerto Rico was definitely busier by the end of our holiday. I hope before long more people will travel. The paperwork to travel was not nearly has difficult to complete as I thought it may be.
The refurb the hotel had 2 years ago looks great and anyone travelling with children will be reassured by the glass safety wall around the pool area. The pool area in particular looks very smart.
We have 4 more holidays booked to Rocamar in the next 2 years. I can't fault it. Go and enjoy people

First time here and was very impressed. A complimey bottle of wine and water was waiting in the very clean apartment . There was a large comfy double bed, excellent shower and all the basics in the kitchen to get by to self cater easily. We ate out every day there is nothing close by it is a very steep walk down steps to the main area and beach about 10-20 minutes walk. We got taxis back as its really tiring climbing back up the long steps but its only 5 mins and £2:70 so well worth it. There is a small pool bar at the apartment the food is excellent and probably better than most in the town, we only used it on the last couple of days and would definitely eat there more next time. The pool is small but doesn’t get over crowded there is enough sunbeds and no need to put your towel on in the morning to reserve like too many do.

Nice Hotel , Ideal base for a self-catering holiday .
Good cooking facilities, Very Clean throughout
Small pool but fit for purpose, No problem getting a sun longer at any time.
No entertainment which was okay as we went out every night.
There was a small bar and cafe on site which served nice food and was reasonably priced.
There was also a small shop on site for the essentials .
Let down by the fact the Reception didn't open until midday but there was a phone to use if needed before this time.
Shops and Restaurants are not far away you can use the 200 or more steps or walk the road way which is longer.
Taxis are always available and varied in price no more than 5 Euros.
Be Warned if you Don't want your room cleaned , Don't sign a piece of paper from the cleaning ladies as you will Not get Your room cleaned for the rest of your stay unless you ask them to do it
All in all a Good hotel would Recommend and Would Return

Just returned home from a two week stay at Rocamar Apartments. We had an amazing stay!
The apartments are well equipped and clean. The air-con keeps the room lovely and cool during the daytime. Rooms are cleaned every other day with towels changed.
The pool area is modern and clean with plenty of sunbeds. Reserving sunbeds became necessary as more people arrived.
The pool is a good size and is never crowded. The sun shines on the pool area all day, everything you need for a relaxing holiday.
The apartments are located at the top of the resort, with around 150 steps down to the main centre. A taxi back to the apartments costs €2.50, so the location is fine and the centre is only a 5 minute walk.
All of the staff were lovely and will help with whatever you need. Apartamentos Rocamar definitely deserve the praise. The apartments are excellent value for money and a perfect place to stay for a relaxing sun holiday.
Trips:
We went on the Afrikat boat trip, which was amazing. €62 if you book online with all inclusive drinks and a tasty lunch. The trip includes a 2 hour swim stop and a complimentary speedboat ride. 100% recommend!
Aqualand Waterpark is a great day out. If you get the 70 bus it is a 30 minute trip from Puerto Rico with a €5 return ticket. Really fun day out!

We stayed here end of September, our eighth visit to Puerto Rico but our first to this hotel.
It is an excellent hotel, the staff are all friendly and the maids do a brilliant job, the hotel is so clean and well maintained. The rooms are a little dated but comfortable and have everything you need for a self catering holiday. There is free air con and WiFi, the air con was a definite plus point! Our towels seemed to be changed every time the maids cleaned, our beds were changed once. The cleaning was very thorough.
The pool area is small and sun beds were limited due to social distancing( during normal times there is room for many more sun beds)but this wasn’t a problem whist the hotel was quiet but during our 2nd week the hotel got busier and a lot of guests were reserving beds with their towels even though we had all signed a form regarding Covid procedures which included NOT to reserve beds!
There is a pool bar which serves good food and reasonably priced drinks, the staff work very hard in it, and there is a small shop for essentials.
The hotel is in a good location with great views over Puerto Rico and a 10 min walk to the shopping center and approx 15 mins to the beach.
All in all we had a great stay here and would highly recommend it.
