In July 2023 we were shocked to watch the wildfires that engulfed the Asklipio/Kiotari area, and obviously the devastation that resulted. With so much of the area burned, and buildings destroyed we, as a matter of course, automatically thought that our forthcoming planned October stay at the Hotel would be cancelled, as it did not seem possible that the area could recover within such a short period of time. It came therefore as a very pleasant surprise to learn that, after a period of closure, repairs had been made, and the Mitsis Rodos Village (RVH) would reopen for business in time for our planned stay.

Whilst it was a pleasure to return, we were surprised as to the number of guests, especially children, who were there at that time in October. It was rumoured that, in order to mitigate the lost revenue due to the period of closure, certain German Travel Agents had made deals with their clients, ‘Kinderurlaub gratis’, perhaps. It could just be however, that the Pied Piper of Hamelin had called by!

Irrespective of the reason, the RVH was, for that time of year, crowded and the staff to guest ratio was not what was expected.

With the above in mind, this was our 7th visit to the RVH and I shall try to segment the various elements which, when combined, provide the rationale as to why we return.

The Location.
We initially chose Kiotari, approximately 60k from Rhodes Airport, because it is a quiet, yet convenient, area with a good beach. The resort is neither densely built up nor hectic, with about three other large low-rise Hotels, a Boutique Hotel and a small number of private high value, upmarket, villas in the central vicinity, with a number of other 5 Star Hotels having recently been built on the outskirts.
Added to which there is, in normal non fire times, the beautiful surrounding countryside with delightful coastal walks, one of which takes you to the beaches and town of Gennadi, it's about 5km but there is a regular bus service back to Kiotari. In addition, the charming village of Asklipio with its Churches, local Museum, small Cafe/Bars and the Venetian/Byzantium Castle is within walking distance, approximately 6km from Kiotari. It was pleasing to note however that Nature is making a comeback, as during our walks positive regrowth of the burned land was occurring.
Apart from the countryside, Kiotari contains a number of small shops to the right of the Hotel, and to the left a local General Store cum supermarket which stocks, at a competitive price, a large number of Greek food, drink and household goods, including balls of twine/string – see The Room.

Public Transport.
There is a bus stop just outside of the Hotel, from which busses travel to Rhodes, Lindos etc, the busses are fairly frequent and do follow the timetable. The single fare to Lindos is, depending on the season, approximately, 3 Euros with Rhodes being 8-10. There is however a ferry which, in season, leaves from Kiotari beach to Lindos. The fare was, at the time we visited, 7.50 Euros and 15 return, it is a delightful trip and a wonderful way to enter Lindos, payment is made on the ferry itself.

As is common in mainland Europe, whilst you can pay the bus fare on entry at a bus stop, at a terminus such as Lindos Town the tickets must be purchased at a kiosk and are date and time stamped for a specific bus.
For trips to Rhodes, Impress Travel based at the Panoramic Express Agency in Kiotari, provide a day return service which at approximately 20 Euros return, is quicker than the standard bus rate and also avoids the 'queuing' at the bus stop.

At the stop by the shops on the right of the RVH, a bus runs twice daily, check timetables, to Prasonisi which in Greek means Green Island but, in Summer when tides are low, becomes a peninsula attached to Rhodes Island. On one side is the Aegean Sea and on the other is the Mediterranean and, apart from it's geographical interest, the beach has become a haven for kite-surfers. There were however, at the time of our visit, only two busses making the return journey to Kiotari each day, again check timetables.

The Hotel.
As the Hotel has obviously been built into a rocky hill, we are very impressed with the skill of the Architects and Structural Engineers who designed, constructed and subsequently transformed the original virgin site. Whilst the Hotel is large, in terms of room occupancy, the buildings are mainly low rise, spread over a wide area containing plants, trees and flowering shrubs which all combine to provide a tranquil village atmosphere. It is also kept immaculately clean. In addition, there has been major refurbishment and enhancement of the Hotel and rooms which, I believe, is planned to continue.

By definition however, being built into a hill does mean that the RVH does not occupy a flat piece of land and the use of lifts or the shuttle service may be required for those with walking difficulties.
Once registered, a map of the Hotel was provided along with room keys. There is no charge for the towels or safe. Within Reception we were also able to exchange GBP for Euros, at a very attractive rate compared to the Banks in Rhodes and Lindos.

The Food.
As per our previous visits, we generally ate in the main Lindos Buffet Restaurant. As always at Breakfast, the fruit, natural Greek yoghurts and honey were excellent and suited us perfectly. At Lunch, the salads, especially the tomatoes, were superb and along with the cheese, olives and fresh bread, with a dessert of fresh fruit, made for an excellent meal. Obviously, the RV has to cater for the majority of its guests and, in this instance the emphasis seemed to be placed on German, especially Bavarian tastes. There were however certain exceptions, the Cuttlefish in Ink and Squid dishes for example, were delicious as were the vegetables such as the crushed Fava beans, so perhaps a selection of more traditional Greek food could be reintroduced.

I must also add that, the waiting staff worked liked Trojans, trying to ensure that as each group of diners leave the Restaurant the table is cleared immediately, a fresh tablecloth laid and new cutlery and glasses set. This practice was made more difficult by the sheer volume of people but, even more so, by those odd persons who piled their plates with food and then left the restaurant with the food untouched!

Apart from the main Lindos Buffet, there are six other Restaurants with Waiter service, the a la carte ones are Italian, Greek, Tex-Mex and Pan-Asian along with a Souvlaki, and a Burger Bar. The first four require advance booking, but in this instance perhaps fire damage had impacted the kitchen, because in previous visits all four of the a la carte restaurants provided excellent meals of very high restaurant quality and presentation. After eating in all four of the restaurants during the first week of this visit, we cancelled the advance bookings for the second week. I’m sure however that for the 2024 season, ‘normal service will be resumed’.

In addition to this extensive list, there is also the Beach Bar, see below, and the Creperie.

As I do not have a sweet tooth, apart from natural honey, my Wife informs me that the Crepes served, both sweet and savoury, in the Creperie were delicious and as good as she has eaten in France. She also highly rated the quality and variety of the Ice-Cream.

It was also very pleasing to note that, unlike certain Hotels, there were no stray dogs or cats in the restaurants, bars or grounds. We do appreciate that a number of people do enjoy stroking and sharing their food with animals when on holiday, but we prefer not to. There are plenty of cats, as well as donkeys, in Lindos

The Drink.
The red wine is very palatable and the Ouzo and Gin were of good quality. We would generally have a pre-Dinner aperitif on the Terrace of the main bar, where it was very relaxing watching the Sunset, whilst enjoying an Ouzo with water and a Gin and Tonic.

The coffee was also good, actually in comparison to those bought in Rhodes, Lindos, Symi etc, very good. The availability of iced water was much appreciated.

It must be said however that in both the Day and Night Bars, there were inordinate queues. In the Day Bar there was often only one person serving, and apart from coffees, beer, wine etc there are approximately 24 varieties of alcoholic cocktail available from 9am onward. Making a cocktail is labour intensive so, unless the numbers of staff are increased, it may be more efficient to restrict the sale of cocktails until the traditional cocktail hour. There is, after all, a certain cachet in pre-Dinner cocktails, which is not achieved in the morning.

The Room.
We stayed in the main Hotel block, Room 310, which had been refurbished to an exceptionally high standard. The shower room was large and extremely well designed, the beds were phenomenally comfortable, there was a luggage rack and apart from being pleasing to the eye, the room was spacious with good storage space and a large balcony. The air conditioning worked perfectly and the shower pressure was excellent. It was also kept spotlessly clean, with the towels and sheets changed frequently, the towels being on a daily basis. The toiletries were replenished as required and, as we always bring our own, it was pleasing to note that the Olive Oil soap, shampoo and shower gel were the same brand as we use in the UK . Coals to Newcastle!

The room refrigerator was stocked with water, beer and soft drinks and replenished every two days. In addition to tea and coffee making facilities, there was also a Nespresso coffee machine.

The only thing about the balcony of our room, apart from the extremely comfortable chairs and the wonderful view, is that there is no external clothes dryer. Rather than emulate our neighbouring room guests, who placed their laundry into the wooden dividing slats, we rigged up an unobtrusive clothes line, using the ball of twine/string purchased as mentioned above. No-one could see and it worked perfectly.

The Beach.
Is accessed either via the private bridge, or across the quiet main road and down a ramp. As the bridge does involve a number of steps, the latter is more suitable for buggies, wheelchairs etc. One of the reasons that we chose Kiotari is that the beach is wide and in good condition, mainly composed of sand with pebbles at the sea access and, as these can become very hot, 'Croc' type footwear is beneficial. The sea itself is clear, and depending upon the time of day there are a variety of fish and squid to be seen when snorkeling.

As it is a private beach the facilities are of a very high standard, the toilets being kept spotlessly clean and the outdoor showers providing a constant stream of warm water. There is also an ample supply of sun-beds and parasols.

The Beach Bar, apart from alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, including ice cold still and carbonated water, serves a good variety of food, ice-creams and fresh fruit. Last, but by no means least, there is also a separate pizzeria with a traditional wood burning oven producing delicious Margherita pizzas, which are then sliced and served.
As the Beach Bar has a small terrace and chairs, it is a pleasant way to relax.

The Staff.
When entering the MRV we were delighted to see Nikos in Reception, we had last met him at the Mitsis Ramira in Kos but many times previously when he was in Rhodes. Being both efficient and courteous, Nikos is the ideal person to represent the front of house.

In the Lindos Restaurant, it has been our pleasure to have met George many times and he really does demonstrate traditional Greek hospitality and is a wonderful ambassador for the RVH. We then met Zeta again, now at the Day Bar, and are always extremely pleased to see her as she is unfailingly welcoming, charming, extremely hardworking and professional.

Nikos (who used to work in the Night Bar) is now at the Beach Bar, and Juliano (who used to work in the Beach Bar and is now in the Gelateria- Creperie) are unfailingly cheerful and who must have the patience of Saints!

Congratulations to Emmanouela, (who used to work with George in the Lindos Restaurant) has now, due to her personality and hard work, been promoted to Customer Services Manager.

A special mention for the gentlemen in the pizzeria who, despite the heat inside and out, not only produce great pizzas but never cease to smile. In addition, whilst we have never met her, the lady who cleans the toilets and keeps them spotless, is doing a fantastic job. It is much appreciated!

Throughout our stay we received exemplary service from all the members of staff that we encountered. In every instance they were friendly, courteous and totally customer focussed, which makes guests feel welcomed rather than tolerated and contributes greatly to the warm, friendly ambiance of the RVH.

For those individuals who we could not specifically name, especially the very hard-working cleaning staff, Many Thanks, as each and every one of you makes a great contribution to our very enjoyable visits. It is much appreciated.

It was a pity that, during the period of our last visit and subsequent return, both Dimitris, the Manager of the Specialist Restaurants and Mr Stelios Matsigkos the General Manager of the MRV have left the Hotel. Both were exceptionally good at their job, and Mr Matsigkos in particular always reminded me of the General Managers that I have met in both the Oberoi and Taj Hotel Groups. Always ‘walking the walk’. In terms of continuity however, I believe however that the new General Manager was here when we first arrived in 2015. Plus ça Change!

Information which may be of potential use.

When visiting Lindos and especially the Acropolis, certain parts of the town are steep and the Acropolis is even steeper, so please do wear flat shoes with a non slip tread. We did see certain people, who had paid their entry fee, having to stop well before reaching the summit. Again, even within Lindos Town, we had to supply disinfectant wipes and elastoplasts to people who had fallen and badly grazed their knees and elbows.

In 2024 the Greek Government replaced the Accommodation Tax charged to hotel guests with a Climate Crisis Resilience Charge which ranges, depending upon the time of year, from 1.5 Euros per room per night for 1 and 2-Star Hotels, to 7 Euros for 4 Star Hotels and 10 Euros for 5 Star.

Conclusion.
As stated earlier, this was our seventh time as Guests of the Rodos Village Hotel and, due to the wildfires, there were certain problems as mentioned. I’m sure however that these were ‘one off’ aberrations since, as we do travel frequently, it is difficult to find other European Hotels which meet the consistently high benchmark standards set by the RVH. We look forward to returning.

This is possibly one of the best hotels I have stayed in within Europe. We stayed in an updated room which was small but met our requirements. The decor in the hotel was amazing as was the service and the range and quality of the food. We had no trouble booking into the restaurants. Drinks and cocktails were nice and I did get my hands on some premium brands when I was drinking them as a drink rather than as a cocktail and asked nicely.

The pools were large enough but not so big you loose the kids, clean and well maintained although could become a little crowded at peak times. We usually found somewhere to sit. The kids weren't overly keen on the salt water pool as it did sting their eyes but they did put up with it to use the slide. The facilities and sports at the beach were good and the pizza oven made a nice change on an evening stroll.

The animation team were great and both the kids and ourselves joined in lots of activities.

The hotel is on the other side of the island from the airport which made a trip into Rhodes town a bit of a treck in a hire car but if you want a relaxing pool holliday with lots of amenities on site it was great. We took a taxi from the airport for about 90 Euro's and this was the same price when we picked one up outside as when we pre-booked in the way home. We did venture into the sister hotel but prefered this. There were only a few other British families which made it harder for the kids to make friends but as we have two boys this wasn't as much of a problem and the animation team allways spoke in English as well as French and German. I don't think that the hotel would be suitable for people with walking difficulties due to the slopes and steps although there is a lift and the oportuntity to walk off some of the many crepes and ice creams we ate.

The good

Food: the main buffet was great. Lots of diversity and delicious meals. The pancake and ice cream terrace was great as well. all kinds of sweets and drinks served over there
Animation and staff teams: we made some great memories and friends with the staff and animation team such as Sam, Wilily, Paul, Aris, Pavlos, Eryeta, Aglea, Orge, Cristof….list goes on. Without them, the resort would be depressing.
Beach area: nice pizza place there and two beach bars with fruits and snacks. A watersports rental place was right next to the pizza place. 5-10 min walk from lobby
Pool areas: didn’t spend that much time in the pool but was decent size. They have three pools.
Hygiene: Rooms and facilities were clean alll the time we were there and maintenance done daily
Lounges and sitting areas: enough places for everyone to find a seat and relax with live music and open air areas

The bad

Use of off-brand sodas. fresh orange juice only available in breakfast. No options for taking food to your room. Only with room service which is a paid service

Beach/pool chairs were without comfy materials. A thin beach mattress for those chairs would have been a huge upgrade.

If you plan on sleeping early, then make sure you don’t take any rooms that overlook the lounges. Noise can go on until 1-2 am.

The communal areas are lovely, with plenty of seating in various lounges and bars and a high level of cleanliness. Our room (450) was good for 2 adults, with a great sea view and close to the pool and restaurants. The negative for this room is that we had booked for 2 adults and our 14 year old. The issue to be aware of is that the 'sofa bed' is a bench with a small, hard mattress. We had booked directly via MITSIS and were charged for 3 adults as our son is over 12 years of age. I understand this policy if he was given a proper bed. After 2 sleepless nights we asked to move and we were offered (at a cost) a far less central location. I declined and asked for a mattress to be put on the bench, which it was and then problem solved... something to be mindful of if your child is tall.

We booked some of the a la carte venues before arrival via the MITSIS concierge on the website. These were fine and the Pan Asian was excellent. The buffet was standard fare and edible, but it is our personal preference to avoid if we can.

The reception staff were far from friendly however the coffee bar and crepe staff were very good and well trained. The lady that changed our pool towels each evening was lovely and always smiling!

There are elements that leave this hotel as a 4* such as no service around the pool and no coffee/tea service at breakfast. Little elements would elevate the experience.

Location is good, we had a car and were close to Pefkos and Lindos where we ate out some evenings.

Dear guest, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us online. We are grateful to read you did appreciated most aspects of your stay. It is rather strange to hear that your son did not fit in our sofa beds as the dimensions of the mattress used there is the exact same with the beds of our rooms. They were ordered that way so we could avoid such issues. To our understanding the sofa as a sofa was disturbing as the new room you got had the same mattress in the same dimensions and the same softness. Thank you for your kind words and thank you for giving us stand to clarify this issue for our future guests. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future. We holidayed at the Mitsis Laguna in Crete this summer which was exceptional. We loved Mitsis so much, we decided to squeeze one more weeks holiday in before the children returned to school. Booking Rodos Village on a whim, we took the chance as we really wanted to visit Rhodes and we haven't been disappointed.
In all honesty, the negative reviews here have surprised me. We haven't experienced any rude staff, everyone has a smile and is representing Mitsis beautifully. They work hard certainly but that's hospitality all over the world. Management are on hand and lead from the front. Uniform and manners are immaculate. Any requests we have made were dealt with timely and efficiently. The hotel room is perfectly modern, with beautiful views and our fridge was re stocked every two days with a superb level of housekeeping who visit daily.
Despite the negatively we have found the buffet restaurant to far exceed the standards of the majority of the 5* hotels we have stayed in but admittedly I am not a fan of a buffet which is why we stay with Mitsis as you're always spoilt for choice when it comes to dining. You can eat at the beautiful pizza restaurant on the beach, the delicious burger or gorgeous Greek kebab restaurant by the pool. There is also a super crepe and ice cream restaurant all without reservations and with friendly table service. On top of this, if you use your reservation ID you can pre book at the A la cartes. We found every dining option to be delicious, except perhaps the Tex Mex where ingredients such as tacos were a little stale. The Italian restaurant was just devine and the Chef here deserves enormous credit, we loved brunch at the Asian A la carte which was fabulous also. The entertainment is good and the hotel is modern, picturesque and with beautiful ocean views, with plenty of gorgeous areas to relax and unwind. The environment and atmosphere during the day and evening is excellent and staff do an incredible job of cleaning 24 hous so that everything is immaculately presented. However I do believe (and feel the need here to critisise) that the pools are too small for the amount of guests and the salt water pools are extraordinarily salty which should be addressed. The children couldn't swim in the childrens pool which led to overcrowding at the one fresh water pool in the complex hence the poor reviews and daily sunbed dash. The patio and umbrellas surrounding the children's pool should also be updated to be more in keeping with a Mitsis and high levels of standards that we have come to expect. This would provide guests with a greater 5* experience and a more aesthetic view when dining at the A la cartes. We took an evening taxi to the 'old town' a medieval marvel and another one evening to Lindos which I'll remember for a life time. The kids have loved our Mitsis adventure once more and we have already booked our next two Mitsis stays on other Greek islands for next year. Thank you for a wonderful stay and family holiday to remember. Keep up the great work! x

Stayed her for 1 week after spending the prior week in another hotel on the other side of the island. First impressions where great, stunning hotel to luck at, very clean and beautifully decorated. We originally booked a ‘superior Bungalow with sea veiw’, not sure how they can advertise it as a bungalow when in reality it was a standard room with tiny view of the sea that was blocked by buildings and trees, but fine, the issues started on our proper first day, getting a sunbed by any of the pools where impossible unless you got up at 5am to do so, for the size of the hotel and the amount of guests, there was simply not enough, maybe 1 sunbed for every 15 people, the annoying thing was that there where plenty of sunbeds with towels on them but nobody used them at all throughout the day, the hotel should maybe put a policy in where you can’t reserve them on the off chance you want to use them. We spent a ridiculous amount of money on this hotel but in the end we decided to try and upgrade our room to one with a private pool so we where guaranteed sunbeds, this cost us an extra 360 euro but we couldn’t move in until the Monday, we decided to do so and it was so much better, although we where not in the main pool, we where happy we got 2 sunbeds waiting for us everyday and our own pool. Being served was also a nightmare, simply not enough staff and only 2 bars for hundreds of people, we watched the entertainment most evenings and only managed to get 2 drinks each within the 2 hours the singers where on, the bar staff didn’t seem like they wanted to be there and when we got our drinks they where only half full and flat. Buffet food was average at best, we booked into all the allocate restaurants a few weeks before we arrived and I’m so glad we did because you couldn’t eat there unless you had a booking and it was always fully booked, Italian and the pan Asian where the best, but again not enough staff running the restaurants and you almost felt rushed so couldn’t really enjoy the view/atmosphere. The evening bar was advertised to close at 2am but each night at around midnight the staff turned the lights off and you where made to feel you had to leave so we did. On the day of check out the reception refused us a late check out, even though we had requested days in advanced and the amount of money we had spent, (we where happy to pay the late checkout fee), so we had to leave by 12pm and we didn’t get picked up until 9pm so that was a pain. We asked for towels at check out so we could use the pool/communal showers and the receptionist didn’t seem happy that we asked, we where then told we could put our suitcases in the holding room, as we where doing so a member of the concierge team ran over to us to tell us it’s full and we couldn’t use it, I was starting to get a-bit irritable at this point and he then proceeded to shout at me and my partner when I told him reception said we could use this service. All in all we had a fabulous 2 weeks in Greece and I love it there and can’t wait to return but I would not recommend or be staying in this hotel again.

Room was pleasant but it is directly over the amphitheatre. Having children who are 2 and 5 and the entertainment starting at 9pm (warm up music from 8pm) until at least 11:15pm, and very loud, this left our children more tired than they arrived and evenings very stressful for us. I think some thought could have been put in by whoever allocated the rooms!
Upon asking to move the night we checked in we were offered an alternative room. It was smaller and literally to the side of the amphitheatre. Alternatively we could pay an additional 30€ a night to actually have a quiet room- they clearly care about guest satisfaction. I don’t expect anything for nothing but some empathy for the situation would have gone far instead we got a shrug of the shoulders when we said it was too much more money!
Do not even consider the possibility of getting beach towels outside the allotted times as they seemingly have no spare towels at all across the resort so this left us with very disappointed children after a morning out.
The timings to get towels are 10-12 or 5-7pm, we were left hanging around with our children until 10am waiting in the mornings. They often weren’t there at 10 so if heading straight out and not back until after 12 as happened to us then it’s tough!
No irons available so any international visitors who's clothing may have creased can either make do or pay from 3€ an item to use their pressing service.
Both swimming pools are freezing. The one by the slide is salt water which is fine but the huge problem at this pool is that the floor is seriously slippery when wet. Not safe with excited children running around.
Range of food is good and it’s generally clean.
Staff hit and miss, some friendly, others grumpy.
Not sure how the Greek star system works but not what I would call 5* least of all when it comes to resolving issues.

Dear Valued Guest, We are sorry to read you review. For you information the Greek star rating system has nothing wrong, it shares the same values as all European countries share. So in our case it is not the system wrong, it is our hotel description in which you did not bother having a look before booking. We state that our pools are not heated ones, we state that we do not have an iron is our rooms, we state the towel exchange policy, we state our animation times, food and beverage offering and numerous other useful information for our guests. We are here to provide the best possible for each of our guests under certain guidelines which we have the courtesy of sharing them online. If you missed to receive these information is a totally other thing and not an excuse for your disappointment. We would be very happy to provide you our hotel description and our all inclusive program if your travel agent failed to do so. Kind Regards, Mitsis Rodos Village team

Having stayed at Mitsis Alila and being fond of the Mitsis brand we thought this resort would have been similar if not the same sort of quality. We were wrong, number of issues when we arrived there was huge queues of guests checking in with one Porter at reception, we had to wait 45 minutes until someone helped us with our luggage up the hill to our room. Having one toddler and one baby we were given a room far away from reception and the path had stairs, so we could only go walking up the hill on the road which wasn’t ideal, never the less we still kept an open mind.
Mini bar is stocked every 2 days which is odd considering this is a 5 star hotel! Cleaning of rooms is hit and miss we had to call to get our room cleaned, which again has never happened when we had stayed at other 5 star resorts.
The buffet restaurant food was the worst ever, we never usually are picky, but most of the food was catered to German clientele and the there was a lack of variety, both on mains and desserts!
Drinks were all unbranded cheap spirits, most things had run out even tonic water. Again this should not be happening especially if it’s meant to be a five star!!!! The bar tenders were hit and miss, you could get a bad drink and a good drink depending upon which bar tender served you. Shows the lack of training.
Creperie was ridiculous, had a young boy serving who was very rude and didn’t want to be there, the menu said they do waffles but they have apparently stopped doing this.
Despite the nice picture gallery that this resort has posted, don’t be fooled into thinking this is a five star - the Mitsis brand is truly inferior and not premium as they claim they are!
Never again!!!!

So I really had high expectations from the reviews and the pictures but about a week in I am feeling conflicted.

The grounds are stunning with amazing views and decor, pool area kept nice and tidy. There is a massive issue of people waking up at the crack of dawn to reserve sunbeds via towels (which is against the rules but nobody actually enforces it) to the point i have seen beds empty all day sometimes with the same couples/families on them the next day so I can only assume they leave them on over night. Also queuing seems to be foreign concept to most of the holiday makers, something not helped by dome of the bar staff who will always serve them first and it is down to other guests to mention it.

Also I feel like I was duped by the room pictures. Our room felt like it was from the 90s and was basically falling apart, TV doesn't work half the time and when it does it only has few european channels(I'm pretty sure smart TV was advertised to me which this isnt). I was so disheartened when I walked into our room I genuinely felt it set the tone for the rest of the holiday, I had saved hard and went over budget for this holiday to be perfect and I essentially got a 2/3* room.

The staff were mostly very nice and polite, always happy to help. Bar one lady who after we were told we could take our masks off, very aggressively told us to put them on while ignoring a room full of people without masks, but I digress.

The food so far has been average to good, I was really looking forward to the restaurants and have only tried the Greek, Souvlaki and Burger bar and they were all pretty good. I wouldn't go as far to say they were amazing, but definitely more then happy as part of an all inclusive. The buffet is your typical 4* buffet.

The one bizarre thing I have found with the food is that it is impossible to get a 'snack' anywhere, by this I mean you can only have sit down meals, no take away options. When you are feeling peckish and need something to see you over till dinner there is literally nothing for you. (In the past usually toasties/sandwiches/chips etc. Would be available somewhere in a hotel).

Also they do not give out bottles of water anywhere so make sure you stock up in your room as once the shop closes there is nowhere to get a drink until the bars reopen.

The beach area just a few minutes walk is lovely and you actually have a chance finding sunbeds there with the pizza oven and bar that actually serves snacks it's probably the best place to relax and enjoy the sun and sea.

I really wanted this holiday to be perfect and the staff do work very hard, but things just keep adding up such as lack of drinks, dated room, no snacks etc. I wouldn't describe this as a 5* holiday experience unfortunately.

Dear Valued Guest,Thank you for posting your impressions online.Every feedback is well appreciated and welcome. As you already said there were some positive aspects of your stay as well and we thank you for mentioning them.We are glad to hear that you appreciated our helpful staff. We are sad to read you did not find what you expected in our hotel. We hate to admit but most of your saying are rather confusing. You say you did not find any snacks in hotel that operates with a rich ultra 24-hour all inclusive service. You accuse us of things that were only your expectations and not the terms you booked for. We admit we have our renovated rooms and our non-renovated rooms. The fact you booked a non renovated hotel does not allow you to judge us negatively for not providing you a renovated. We hear your comments, and we will use them in order to improve our services and we cannot thank you enough for that. We feel that overall you had a nice vacation and that you enjoyed the services provided by our kind and helpful staff. We hope to welcome you back soon. Kind Regards, Mitsis Rodos Village Beach Resort & Spa

Arrived late at night…reception staff seemed stressed and unorganised.. they first couldn’t find our names on the list.. found it hard to understand (partly due to masks)what she was saying as everything was rushed.
As soon as we got to the room we opened the curtains
to look at the view of “the hotels lovely gardens” and we were greeted with a roof and sky lights of the kitchen …. Not what we signed up for … the room was 2 ⭐️.. dated.. grey grout in the bathroom… the kettle had what can only be described as “vic” in it .. and it smelt like “vic”… tried to phone reception for a new kettle and the phone didn’t work …we went to reception to ask for a room move to be told come back in 2 days when there would be a manager available.. we didn’t unpack as we thought we might be moving… back to the room … first night we were kept awake by the constant rumble of a generator and one glass pain rattling in the door ( the rest of the week we wedged a chair against it to stop it rattling ) all week we had the constant noise of furniture being moved and plates …
The staff in the poolside bar were ignorant and rude .. stood waiting to be served while they looked at me and carried on looking at their mobiles ..
2 days later , back to reception to ask about room move… even offered to pay and upgrade but apparently no rooms available… we were told “ it is a standard room” yes we agreed but it’s not a standard 5 star room!! The manager was well aware of our issues and more or less said “ yes the garden view and rumbling noise is a problem”…. It would seem it is out of their hands which I get however the higher management/owner should be advertising these bedrooms as 2 ⭐️ bedrooms and pricing them accordingly . The reception staff must dread every time they give someone the keys for these bedrooms… no wonder they have attitude…
“ Eventually we were shown the room the “complaining lady” had just vacated because of the noise and it being directly above the bar!!

We decided not to waste any more time and stay where we were..

On the whole food was good, the restaurant staff were very nice …. Our room lady was lovely and we had clean towels etc every day…pool bar staff and reception staff were unhelpful with attitude …the bar staff in reception and near the outdoor area were good… looking at other remarks it seems a lot of people agree.. need to look at the common denominator here and act on it !
Would I come back. No.. no welcoming feeling at this hotel .
