Picture This. An Ocean View Room so close to the ocean you can hear the breakers all night long if you wish. You can sit on your balcony and watch the moon light shimmering on the waves(depending on the moon phase) while sipping on you favourite drink with your favourite companion. We chose Ocean view Premium but any accommodation at this resort is fantastic. We have always appreciated the extras that come with Premium( previously Diamond Club). With Premium Club you can choose to have a quiet breakfast outside with the best service you can imagine and a tasty healthy breakfast and come back for lunch for the same pleasure. We enjoyed the buffet but really enjoyed the El Gourmet fine dining dinners. We had fantastic lobster 3 times. Other meats are maybe limited but coming from Canada we can eat all of those meats at home. Mussels, fish, and clams are plentiful at the buffet. We had the best beef carpaccio at the La Cocina. The bar service everywhere was fantastic. The rum was as good as it gets. There were a few occasions when you could not get the same drink everyday but it was fun to try something new. For those of you who read too much internet news, we always had electricity and transportation. Our plane had fuel too.

The service on this resort is over the top by all who work here. Naming them risks missing someone who should be named.

Our room was cleaned everyday and the the in room fridge stocked with beer, bottled water, and pop.

If you want to extend your fun into the evening, there is a piano bar that provides you with all the right reason to go to bed way too late. Roger the guitar man knows how to keep everybody enjoying the late evening hours.

I do not understand why it does not cost twice as much as we paid to go to this resort, but no complaints from us.

The resort is a good distance from any major roads. The only vehicle you hear in the morning is the tractor cleaning the beach daily. Weather permitting, snorkeling off the beach is fantastic.

The hotel is an adults-only hotel and in a quiet location, with only one or two other hotels in the neighborhood. Just right for those looking for relaxation. The hotel is located between Havana and Varaderro, each about an hour's drive away. The beach is extensive with palm trees. There were always enough free loungers on the beach. The loungers themselves were mostly in good condition. The rooms were very good, the mattress was great, I slept very well. The air conditioning was very quiet and the temperature was easy to adjust. The bathroom had a bathtub with a shower head, and there was also a hairdryer. Very friendly staff, always a smile on their faces. There was nothing to complain about in the catering either. There were several types of meat and fish which were freshly prepared for each guest, as were the pasta dishes. There was also pizza. I can only recommend the specialty restaurants.

It was our first time as brits in Cuba and we absolutely loved it!
I’ll start with some reassurance if you’ve booked here but are concerned about the economic issues in Cuba. You needn’t worry about this affecting your stay, we constantly had water, the hotel supplied shower gel, hair wash and body lotion. As two vegetarians we were happy with what we had, there’s more than what we expected for veggies! For meat eaters and egg lovers there’s plenty for you! We spoke to some people who stayed in other hotels who did experience issues so note that this is at the hands of the hotel and especially their staff (and their hard work)that the stay was so smooth, relaxed and stress free.

As for the entire stay, the staff were amazing. I have stayed in many countries and many hotels and nothing has compared to the service and amazing personality of the staff here. Especially all the love to Yordy and his son! Yordy is such a lovely person who guided our group hike beautifully and helped me and my husband when I needed a life guard at the beach and was in distress Yordy was amazing-so very grateful to yordy.

Do research and read up on Cuba and the area so you know what to expect, rooms and decor are tired but understandable, I would absolutely stay here again I can see why people keep on coming back. Tipping isn’t expected but do tip where you can as the staff absolute do deserve it and if baggage allows bring some extra toiletries for the staff.

Some heads up-
The public can use the beach on weekends and it gets rammed so be prepared to not be at the beach on the weekend.
The pool beds fill up quick In the shade and everyone leaves their towel on the beds to mark their territory. There are signs not to do this but it’s not enforced. So expect seats gone after 10am.
There are two snack bars, one doing toasties and one doing burgers but didn’t seem popular so either bring your own snacks or have big breakfasts and lunch’s to make sure your full for the days (or have lots of the lush piña coladas they do)
Bring bug bite cream and relief as is the nature of Cuba being tropical not the hotel. trust me on this you’ll need it!

Thankyou to the hotel for the amazing stay. We loved every minute, two weeks wasn’t enough! Thankyou

First..... clear your mind of all the previous all inclusive vacations you've been on. This is Cuba and there won't be as much varied food and the accomodation won't be to such a high standard as you are used to.
Then....come to Cuba with an open mind and you will have a good time.

This hotel is the best on offer, being part Canadian owned. The food is great and the rooms are clean. The beds are MASSIVE and comfortable.
The beach is cleaned of seaweed every morning around 5 am. Great snorkelling on the reef just offshore (free snorkel and flipper hire for one hour per day). There are also a few pedalos and kayaks.
Pool is very shallow but perfect for a dip to cool off.
Evening shows are very well done.

Being all inclusive, you don't have to spend a penny, although giving the maids and waiting staff a few dollars is always well received. Most of the tips are shared, which is a great idea as it's really difficult to pick out specific staff who deserve tips over the others..... they are all excellent.

There are some great walks around the hotel and you'll meet many friendly locals who will gratefully receive your gift of hotel soap, shampoo or sweets for the kids. Come on.... it costs us nothing !!

Many folk we met had been to Memories Jibacoa numerous times so I think we made the right choice.

Hola everyone,
It gives me great pleasure in this review. Please note, I have dealt with evidence and facts for 46 years so my reviews are accurate and not B.S.
I have been at this hotel countless times but not for a few years. The receptionists are outstanding, the bar and restaurant staff too. The buffet is very well controlled with lots of variety of food.
I love the servers serving you, this prevents idiots touching food or piling it up to the sky!
There are problems here but I believe you can select something you can enjoy.
Yesterday was my first day here and the first day of sunshine for the last 5 weeks.
The speciality restaurants here are great, snorkelling or scuba diving here are great but requires good weather and calm seas.
This hotel is for people who want to unwind, relax, chill and just enjoy the tranquility, it is NOT for clients who want to party after 9 pm.
After 9 pm it's an old peoples home.
It is very quìck service here at bars.
Tip, $ 1 USA is 320 National
Canadian is 200, with Cubans, NOT bank rate.
No need to change money for tips etc, leave USA or CDN.
Go out of hotel and buy rum for 6 USA approx, not in stores at 25 plus in USA moneyx
Do not pet dogs, they carry diseases like scabies.
Dogs here are not adorable like other countries.
Enjoy Cuba and its people, wishing you a wonderful sunny holiday.

This hotel deserves to be visited., even several times. It doesn't matter which block the accommodation is in, you can feel comfortable anywhere. Each view from the balcony offers a different or new view of the garden, sea or pool.
I have been there several times and always looked forward to being back. Why? The location of the hotel is quiet, in the middle of the country, there are no other large hotel complexes next to it, you can get out immediately and is in the middle of it or you are on a short way to and from the sea. The sea is ideal for swimming, snorkeling and diving. There is the possibility to take the catamaran out to sea accompanied by an experienced catamaran driver.
The food was very varied this year, perhaps some lack even more variety. However, given the supply situation in Cuba in general, the offers are outstanding. Unfortunately, during our holiday, one or the other typical drink, such as Cuba Libre or Mojito (no cola or mint available) was missing. That was a pity, because growing mint in the hotel's own area would be possible.
There is an animation team in the hotel who are very friendly and non-intrusive about their offers. The shows in the evening change and are sometimes more or less accepted depending on the theme or number of tourists. Overall, these can be rated as good. When it rains, the shows take place inside the disco, which I found too loud and only used once.
The real gem of the hotel is the staff. They are friendly, warm, helpful, polite, hardworking and always available for fun. This is despite the fact that this is certainly not always easy for them. Outside the hotel there are daily ongoing power outages, the transport and supply situation is very difficult and the workload is very high.
Please remember to bring small items when choosing this hotel. All cosmetics, pencils, exercise books, chocolate, vitamins, perfume samples, lipsticks, chewing gum are accepted with the utmost joy. Please also remember not to forget anything for your own needs. We were happy that we had 2-3 spices with us, which we like to add to the food at home.
Important to know: take enough cash with you. In the hotel you can or must pay by credit card (no Amex), for everything else you need cash. There is no cash from vending machines, either in the hotel or in Santa Cruz del Norte, 15 km away.
We recommend excursions with the classic cars waiting for you in front of the hotel with their chauffeurs.

Hi …Im not sure where these positive reviews are coming from? Maybe quality and service has slipped in the last few years, or people just have low standards. My experience was not great, although the country is beautiful, a lot was missing in this 4 star hotel, j in use that loosely, because 4 star in Cuban standards. The first snd m oh at annoying thing was the Internet…never worked, only in the lobby of the hotel and sometimes. When we checked in (2 adults not a couple) the staff didn’t want to give us a second key, twice we were told to come back tomorrow, until I asked to speak to a manager and then I got my key. Even though I was told they take Canadian currency I was constantly being gauged and charged double or triple what the actual international currency rate was when trying to pay in Canadian or even Pesos…all the staff wanted US funds wherever you went in Cuba. Just a few examples for the o pi people that might be skeptical…at the cigar/rum shop in the hotel a box of 5 Cuban cigars was $30 US or $80 Canadian…at the airport 1 bottled water was $2 US or $5 Canadian…makes no sense right? They gauge Canadians…even though there are no Americans there. The room was very average…the phone wasn’t working, the tv was blurry and hardly worked and there was 1 outlet for the small fridge, tv and coffee maker, so you had to decide what you wanted plugged in. The shower was weak, and the water trickled out…something was wrong with the plumbing. The grounds were ok…well kept, but I’ve seen better in other countries. They seemed to ration everything, the soap, shampoo, towels, I felt like I had to beg everyday for an extra towel. Not 4 star material…not from other 4 stars I’ve stayed at around the world. We were also fighting mosquitos in our room everyday. The 3 restaurants on the property…2 of which we tried were average…nothing to brag about and I’ve eaten at some really nice restaurants around the world. The buffet (breakfast. lunch snd dinner) again average…food wasn’t hot off the hot buffet…some if the stews were flavourless, the meat was not great, small, chewy cuts of meat, mostly the same food everyday. The only thing I found good was the seafood and some of the fruit like the pineapple, papaya, passion fruit, etc. Again not what I’m used to at a 4 star. Still must out f the staff were nice so we tipped them in pesos everyday. Another I remember is shortages at the bar…one day they would have mojitos the next they wouldn’t. They were constantly out of things. I wouldn’t go back and it’s a shame because I really wanted to support Cuba…it’s a beautiful country and I’m glad I saw it…we did as lot of tours snd sight seeing, but I wouldn’t stay at this hotel again…maybe I would go to Varadero next time and stay at a 5 star, but I don’t know…the country is missing a lot of the Western comforts that I enjoy when I go travelling.

We’ve just returned from a 2 week holiday at memories in Cuba. We had an amazing holiday and one we will never forget!

The hotel internally is very traditional (as to be expected in Cuba), the facilities are fantastic and offer something for everyone wether you prefer to relax or fancy something sporty. The entertainment it very good too both during the day and in an evening.

The grounds of the resort are immaculate. The gardeners work tirelessly every day ensuring it is prestige not to mention the fresh coconuts they give you on a daily basis! This has to be the most stunning setting we have stayed in especially with it only being 100 yards from the beach. It’s worth noting that it’s all completely flat, we’ve stayed in some lovely places but there always seem to be hills or lots of steps - this is the opposite!

The rooms are spacious and in particular the blocks are nicely spaced out so you don’t feel on top of one another. Although some parts are a little tired this didn’t bother us in the slightest as we spent most of our time outside. The rooms were cleaned every single day to a high standard including fresh bedding upon request and were spacious. The balcony’s are a great size too.

As mentioned in other reviews definitely do your research on Cuba. Seeing how the Cuban people live was a huge eye opener and it has certainly been an experience we won’t forget. You need to be open minded when going to Cuba, you can’t just pop to the shops and buy snacks, toiletries or medication as these are very rare to come buy so you need to take these with you. Some of the tours and activities are out of this world, we visited Havana on a guided Tour along with a boat trip and paragliding - all of which were amazing.

After speaking with several people at the airport on the return home, it was made very clear this is by far one of the best resorts on the island if you haven’t got a bottomless budget.

Overall I’d definitely recommend going here, we thoroughly enjoyed it. Just make sure you do your research on Cuba so you know what to expect!

Tips:

Take dollars & lots of 1 dollar bills for tipping
Take snacks, medication & lots of mosquito repellent.
Take your own snorkels
Take a thermal cup for your drinks (instead of small plastic cups)
Take a portable kettle, the coffee machines in the room are nearly impossible to work/use

Not a highlight, but nice guests and friendly staff.

Since some of the bad reviews, some things seem to have improved.
1. our room with a wide double bed was large and the mattresses were OK. Because of the cold weather, which is untypical for December, we asked for a second blanket, which was brought immediately. The bathtub and fittings are old, but the bathroom and toilet were cleaned daily. Like all other equipment, they are in short supply, and I don't think replacing them because of a bit of rust is necessary. The toiletries are easy to tolerate and have a subtle scent. The towels are pleasant.
2. Service is mostly friendly and very attentive, sometimes a little clumsy. Anyone who arrogantly criticizes the sometimes somewhat offensive tip request should remember that this is essential for survival on a monthly salary of 15 to 25 dollars.
3. There is an abundance of food. Culinary highlights are not to be expected. Like other commentators, we missed sauces and spices. The meals are never really hot either. The table wine is bad, the cocktails are probably watered down. In addition, only members of the Diamond Club can enjoy better alcohol. More quality instead of quantity would be the better solution. I hope that the leftovers from the buffet will benefit someone else. Given the large number of obese guests, the mass eating and liquor consumption typical of all-inclusive hotels is simply obscene in a completely impoverished country.

Hello, my experience exceeded my expectations, from the reception we enjoyed great attention from the staff, the simple rooms were very clean with very good taste from the waitresses and in the different eating spaces there was a wide variety of very good foods. prepared and presented. From the general image I can tell you that the maintenance of the green areas, the room complexes and spectacular views are very good. We really had a wonderful time and hope to visit again. A visit that will not be forgotten
